History
Established in 1955.
The shop was started in a basement in 1955 as a hobby by our grand father, Wilbur J.D. Ingham .He needed something to do to keep himself busy in retirement. Wilbur made frames for family, friends and neighbors as the need arose. Steadily the client base grew and with many people coming back on a repeat basis, it was obvious he needed help to get the work done. As this hobby grew into a business, our father got involved and it moved into a larger basement in Lansdale. In the 1970 ‘s and 80’s picture framing became more popular and the business continued to grow a broader client base and also needed to move to bigger stores to accomodate the growth. We have occupied 3 other store front locations, prior to moving to our current location at 25 Susquehanna ave. in 2002. We are a 3rd generation family business still doing quality work at a fair price and seek to keep our customer’s needs as our priority. We look forward to meeting you and I hope you have a great day.
Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner
Hi and thank you for taking the time to read this. I grew up here in the Lansdale /North Wales area and graduated from North Penn H.S. I got involved in the shop in 1977; just helping out my father in law on occasion by chopping and joining frames when it got busy. As The Mitre Box grew, those occasions of coming in to help became more frequent and I started to also learn more aspects of framing. At the retirement of our father in 1992, my wife Beverly and I purchased the business and continued to serve the south eastern PA. region with the creative and quality custom picture framing the area has come to expect. My wife and I have 6 children and each one has spent time working here at the shop in some capacity. When you stop in, you may even see one of my grand children sweeping, cleaning or watering the plants. We truly are a family business and we still live /work /and play here in Lansdale.
