Owen Biddle Photo School specializes in personalized photography instruction. We offer private photography lessons, small photography classes, photo field trips and photo salons (informal gatherings for sharing pictures, getting feedback, leaving inspired). Instruction is at all levels and can take a student from beginner to advanced. Many special topics are also offered, such as Night Photography, Abstraction, Babies and Children and other photography workshops.

History

Established in 2010.

Owen worked in photo retail for about 30 years, and also taught photography at local adult education programs, for about 30 years. Programs where he has taught include Mainline School Night, Mainline Art Center, and Haverford Adult School. When he retired from the retail-​end of photography he was able to devote himself full time to his two passions: taking pictures and teaching photography. He established the Owen Biddle Photo School, first in his home/​studio in Havertown, but recently moved to his new studio above the Historic Theater in Lansdowne.

Owen grew up in Bryn Mawr, PA. He attended Episcopal Academy and then Villanova University. He first started taking pictures as a young man when he worked for the AudioVisual Department at Elwyn’s Davidson School, taking pictures of «student life». Owen fell in love with photography and pursued the art at Delaware County Community College, and also under his mentor, David Lorenz Winston. For many years he worked in camera stores, where he became deeply knowledgeable about cameras and camera equipment. Through his years of experience teaching at various adult education programs in the area, he has developed a curriculum and teaching style that have inspired many many students over the years.
