Backyard Bar-B-Q

Good Bbq not great Bbq. The Cuban sandwich however is one of the best concoctions I’ve ever had close to my body. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say the beans are bus he’s baked beans. Maybe some doctoring done to them. Maybe not. Definitely original recipe. Either way great place to go if you’re looking for Bbq. Also a great place to go if you’re looking for anything else. Great sandwiches too.

This place was good. The food was good and the service fast and friendly. There wasn’t anything that jumped out though. I had the pulled pork flatbread sandwich with slaw. It was good but nothing insanely good, nor was there a variety of sauces to try.
The inside of the restaurant is having an identity crisis, there is patio furniture next to artsy painted chairs and plush deck chairs. There are also fully set plastic tables hung on the wall.
I would come by here again from time to time. I’m not sure I’d be a regular though.

A bbq place that DOESNT cater to the keto crowd. All they have is sandwiches and the few bbq plates they have are really pricey and come with a few sides, all of which arent keto friendly. I asked if they would sell me a plate of their buffalo chicken, but they refused. Normally if a restaurant doesnt have keto, or glutin free options it doesn’t bother me, but a BBQ place should have a little something, thats a no brainer. If they were willing to sell the meat alone they’d have all my business.

Tasty food, fast service. A little expensive. The interior is done in a «picnic» theme, a little too cutesy for me. The thermostat could use a bump in the northern direction, if you know what I mean. Freezing in there. I like Backyard BBQ for the chow.

The is a quaint, home-​towny like place in downtown, and it really had charm. The day I visited was rainy and just a tad cold, but Backyard Bar-​B-​Q was exactly what I needed!
I ordered the South-​Western and for the price, it was very tasty!
I’ve had better BBQ elsewhere, but the location, the price, and the quaint features of this establishment created a value-​added experience that was better than most in it’s price range or quality of food.
The service wasn’t amazing, and I was left a little hungry after visiting, but if i worked downtown or needed something within walking distance for lunch, I would be a regular at Backyard Bar-​B-​Q!

Being from the South, I’m sure I’ve got different standards when it comes to BBQ joints. I decided to give Backyard a shot and opted for a pork sandwich and a side of potato salad.
The pork sandwich was decent but nothing special. I should’ve known I was in trouble when I asked «what types of sauces do you have» and the guy behind the counter blankly stared at me and said «uh…barbecue sauce?» The sauce they use is ketchup based, and while I much prefer a Carolina-​style mustard-​based sauce for my pork, theirs was good enough. The sandwiches were served on flat bread, a first for me and BBQ sandwiches, and topped with slaw. While certainly not the best sandwich I’ve had, it was relatively cheap and quelled my BBQ cravings for a while — so I’ll call it a success.
The potato salad left a lot to be desired. The portion was pretty small and lacked any flavor or seasoning whatsoever. Sure, they used bits of egg — a favorite of mine — but it was just very blah.
Backyard made for a decent lunch option but I honestly wanted something more.

Who doesn’t love BBQ right? Tried out this place after going on a tour of the state Capitol building because I can’t ever pass up a BBQ place. The setting fit the name, complete with patio furniture, cute little saying on pieces of wood, and funky painted stools. The staff was friendly and the food was decent. It was a bit too sweet for me and I was surprised to see that my sandwich was wrapped in a pita. I think I would have preferred a bun but it was filling and hit the warm sandwich-​BBQ spot. I would be back mainly because the staff was so friendly.
