Delphi Glass

It is about classes at Delphi Glass. They offer several classes in 5 different crafts. I would like to try many of the beginner classes to see what I might like, and in what I might be good. Unfortunately there is only one class (in stained glass) which doesn’t require participant to come to the class with his/​her own tool kit and materials. All other classes require, besides hefty price for the class, and often extra (and hefty too) cost for materials, purchase of additional tools and materials. If I just want to try a class I am not going to spend additional $ 200 — $ 300, or more, on a kit, or tools, and supplies I might never use again! The person I talked to told me that this formula works for them and they are not going to change anything. Pity, because with more friendly and logical approach they would have more happy and returning class participants, as some classes are empty.

I have been buying from Delphi for years. I purchased a high end grinder bit for 43 $. When I received it the screw set would not thread pass the first thread. My son took a look at it and could see the threading was poor quality. I went to our local hardware store to see if they had another screw set I could try. The store clerk tried all sizes to find a fit. He then tried metric. They all hung up on the thread. Okay, so this was a quality assurance issue. I called customer service. I explained the situation and that I was requesting an exchange. The representative said he needed approval from his supervisor and put me on hold. He then came back on and said it was not approved and wanted to know if I had used some kind of lubricant on the thread? What? I then demanded for a refund! Very poor customer service! So they are processing my card for the refund after he talked to his supervisor! Wouldn’t have been better
customer service to just have mailed me a new one? I found Gel Bits online better and cheaper. They lost me as a customer. Frankly I don’t think they care.

I was there last week, the young lady who helped me was extraordinary. She knew exactly where the glass I wanted was. I brought in an old piece from a previous project hoping to be able to find it… She was extremely helpful and professional.

I am really frustrated with my first (and only) experience with Delphi Glass. I ordered a *set* of 8 drawer pull blanks on July 19, 2014. I received 2 of them on July 23, 2014, with no explanation of what happened to the other 6. I emailed the company on July 28 to find out what happened. The head of Customer Service emailed me back. Here’s her email text, sent on July 28, 2014:
«At the time we sent you those pulls, we only had the 2 in stock. Unfortunately, our warehouse workers when pulling an item do not know if there were only 2 due to simply being out of stock, or if the item has been discontinued.
«I see that we now have them once again in stock and the last 6 will be shipping out to you tomorrow. If I may be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.»
By August 2, I still hadn’t received the 6 pulls. I confirmed on my credit card statement that I had been charged the full price of all 8 pulls plus shipping. I emailed the company head of Customer Service again and asked what happened. I got no response by August 4, so I called the company and spoke to a customer service rep who said that the pulls were being held up from shipping for some unspecified reason. He promised to go and send them himself immediately. I spoke to him about an hour ago so I will edit this review after I see whether he did what he said he would do.
I am extremely disappointed and upset with this company and their lack of concern for their customers’ satisfaction. I will look for another supplier if I want to make drawer pulls in the future.

I have shopped with Delphi online for years. I live in Virginia, and there aren’t many stained glass supply stores near me. I’m glad I’ve found Delphi! I have purchased many supplies from them over the years both for stained glass and for fusing. Their customer service is great and when some glass arrived broken (due to carrier mishandling), Delphi quickly sent me replacements with no hassle. I can spend hours looking online through their product selection — it’s a wonderland of supplies!

Good customer service… Great glass supplies… Lots of misc art supplies for many different interests!

Delphi is a stained glass supply paradise. The quality and selection is the absolute best. Creative Nirvana. HOWEVER, my last 3 trips were less then stellar when I encountered probably the worst employee attitude I have ever experienced. After the first encounter I wrote it off to the employee having a bad day. Not acceptable. but I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt. But after a 2^nd and 3^rd visit and encountering less then acceptable customer service, willingness to answer questions, simple common courtesy and a plain nasty attitude, it is clear Delphi has a rotten apple on their staff. For a business that encourages creativity and art (at a not cheap price)… why would they ruin the consumer experience with a nasty, curt employee? Her behavior even made other Dephi employees uncomfortable.
This is not the way I want to be treated after a 2.5 hour drive to Lansing and much anticipated «fun» afternoon.
Shame on you Delphi for not reining in an individual that is detrimental to the success of your business and discourages customers from asking questions and spending a substantial amount of money. We had planned on taking classes this fall and winter… but frankly, opted out largely because of this nasty employee.
Delphi is a 5 star business with a 1 star employee attitude.

I was disappointed in the selection I received. I bought a $ 25.00 piece of glass, 8×10 size. It came with tons of flaws. Now if I was fusing the piece, it wouldn’t have been an issue as these flaws would melt OR if I had bought a large piece I could have cut around it to make the kaleidoscope I wanted. But as it was, I couldn’t use it. The response I got from Delphi was lame: «Our warehouse does not know when a customer orders fusing glass for a project other than fusing, to be able to select a different part of the glass.» So, when a customer orders a small piece, why not just give them a GOOD piece, and leave one that’s flawed for people who order a larger piece? I’m paying retail. I expect to get a quality piece if I’m paying $ 25.00 for an 8×10 piece!!!
It will cost me ½ of what the glass is worth to ship it back, so I guess I’m stuck.
This is not the first time I’ve had issues with them. In another order I got an assortment — clear + black: and got one clear, the rest black.
In a previous year I asked for two day shipping and when it didn’t arrive I found out that it hadn’t left the building yet as I hadn’t asked for a rush to pull the items, so I was out my glass for the job I needed it for.
I will say that they do have a great selection of product.

When I go to Delphi, I feel like a kid in a candy store. All of the brightly colored glass sheets calling my name! Their supply of glass is just awesome. From stained glass, to mosaics, glass slumping and more! They offer classes and one day I hope to take one. They have a gorgeous mosaic car out in front of their store. It’s so inspiring! The staff is so friendly, couldn’t ask for a better store. Check them out, you’ll be so inspired!

I had never touched a piece of art glass before 2005, and now I can make stained glass panels, mosaics, stepping stones, marbles, fused glass objects, enameled copper decorations… They offer lots of really interesting, inexpensive classes geared at beginners as well as advanced seminars for the artistes. And their selection of glass and tools can’t be beat. The staff is really friendly and down to earth, and they all work with glass so they are knowledgeable as well (the folks wrapping your glass may also be their class instructors)! Prices range from home crafter to top of the line, depending on what you pick. And you can walk into their store and ask for anything in their catalog (even if you don’t see it on the shelves) — they pack their catalog orders in the back of the building and can bring out anything in their «wish book». Each April, they also have a glass art festival that professionals and amateurs enter, and the artwork is on display in their store all month.

I make jewelry from a variety of materials and am always looking for great suppliers. Delphi Glass is excellent for all kinds of glass products. I get a lot of my fusing glasses and supplies from them. The customer service is excellent. I have called them on the phone a couple of times for advice on different projects that I am working on. Being a bargain hunter, I definitely like it that Delphi is always having a sale on something. Sometimes shipping can be slow, but their products are very good.
