Fort Collins / Poudre Canyon KOA

This is an alright place if you like rude people and traffic noise. When we checked in, for some reason the man did not enter our party into the system. Subsequently the person who came in on the next shift came to our campsite and rudely demanded to see our receipt. He then stormed off with the receipt to the office. He never apologized for his unbelievably rude behavior and he won’t get the chance. I wouldn’t stay another night.

My boyfriend, our 1 year old and myself stayed here over Labor Day weekend. It has alot of positives. Conveniently located, the grounds were clean, the staff was friendly and courteous and best of all… most people were very understanding about a 1 year old waking up crying at 5am.
I only have one negative for this place and its a BIG negative for me. It is located close to the highway so you can here alllll the cars and trucks day and night. If you are looking for a remote location… this is not the koa for you. There are a lot of other camps spots in the area. I would suggest those instead. However, of you are passing threw and just need some place to stay for a night or two… this is for you. I really wish I could give them 3 stars, but the highway noise really bummed me out.

Stayed for the full summer great place, workers are very friendly. Campsite is well kept.

This place was conveniently located 30 mins from the camp my kids were at so we gave it a shot. Nice facilities, some of the staff were great, but the owner is a rude individual. Were told that had we stepped one foot onto his property (lived onsite) with our dogs, he would have made us leave right then and kept our money for the week. Never stayed at a KOA before and doubt I will in the future.

Rude ownership!!! Drunk Bikers welcome but not families!!! This guy «Don» shushed my wife for complaining about the drunk bikers keeping us up all Monday night with Lynard Skynard music and racist jokes. Weird place. Will never return!!!

2 year old son was practically crying needing to go to the bathroom, we stopped in hopes of using the restroom and within seconds they were in our face about where we stopped the car. My wife was running in with the boy and I was watching for anyone coming (no one ever came) but they sure gave both of us a lot of grief!

Okay, so anyone that camps knows that KOA’s are for convenience, not beauty.
They are located where they are for ease of traveling.
That being said there’s not much to see here and you get to listen to cars all night.
The facilities were pretty clean, and accessible.
The #1 positive here is the staff. Our battery died at the campsite and the camp manager came down, no problem, and really helped us out by jumping us with this truck. We really appreciated that and the great attitude he had.

I want to give this place 1 star, but that wouldn’t be fair.
In summary, if you 1) don’t mind being really close to a major highway, 2) don’t need a firepit at your campsite, 3) like tiny campsites and being really close to other campers, and 4) like having the convenience of a gas station across the street, then this place is for you!
We pulled into this KOA, having paid $ 35 for a reservation, and spent about 5 minutes there before bagging out and going up the Poudre Canyon to a US Forest Service campground that was 100x better (for less than half the price at $ 17.) The dealbreaker was… get this… no firepits at their campsites! Instead, they offer to roll out a tiny charcoal grill for you and say, and I quote, «it’s just like a campfire, only it’s on a pedestal.» We drove around and saw someone using one. It’s a small charcoal grill. NOT a campfire. And in my book, it’s NOT camping if there isn’t a CAMPFIRE involved!
Why not just 1 star then? Well, I’m sure the place has some appeal for somebody. It’s got a bunch of RV sites with hookups. It has a playground that looked like it would have kept my daughter entertained for about a half hour. And it does have a small pool. The owners tried to be nice about everything and gave us a raincheck. So it’s not the most horrible place on earth to stay and the people who run it aren’t mean, but let me be clear. This is NOT Colorado camping. This is a small slice of grass to put your tent for a night.
Rather than stay here, go up Highway 14 to one of the many awesome campsites along the Poudre River. They cost half as much, they’re spacious, and have some of the most gorgeous scenery in the area. And yes, they all have firepits!
