La Posada Hotel Suites

I had business to attend to in Laredo so my girlfriend and I stayed here on 06÷12÷16 for one night. This is not my first time to stay at La Posada. Perhaps I’ve stayed here at least 4 other times. I enjoy this hotel more everytime I come here. I had time to relax and swim in the pool for a couple of hours. Margaritas are delivered poolside. refreshing! The room is quiet and comfortable with plenty of space. I had a junior suite. Tax included, the final bill was only $ 125.00. Free covered garage parking. I will definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a great experience while traveling to Laredo.

My wife and I just celebrated our wedding reception at La Posada in the San Agustin Ballroom and were extremely satisfied with everything!

Crossing at Laredo? If so, this is the perfect spot to stay. We do, each and every time we cross. Located just 5 minutes from the border and the river view rooms gives you an opportunity to see just how much traffic is crossing over.
Affordable luxury. Spacious rooms that are immaculate and tastefully furnished.
Covered and safe parking.
Gym with all types of decent equipment including weights and cardio.
Dining room serves excellent food and one of the best French onion soups I’ve had in a long time. Classic wedge with bacon and sugar pecans and the turkey burger on a scrumptious bun sends you with a full tummy into their oh so comfy beds.
The grounds are beautiful and the pool is surrounded by courtyard style rooms.
I can’t imagine staying any place else when in Laredo.

La Posada Hotel was a delightful respite from the chain hotels! The beautiful colonial Spanish architecture with lovely grounds and native plants added to the charm. The rooms were spacious, well kept and did not disappoint. Even though the hotel sits right at the border, actually just a short walk across the bridge into Nuevo Laredo, the secured entries and parking provided reassurance of safe lodgings. The Zaragoza Grill was very good and happy hour was an awesome value! I can’t wait to go back to Laredo so I can stay at La Posada Hotel again!

If you’re visiting Laredo, for whatever reason, you absolutely must stay at the historic La Posada.
I’m going to have to preface this review by admitting my opinion is quite biased; skewed by the nostalgia of literally living here the entire summer for two consecutive years (2012 & 2013).
That said, I have stayed at the other more upscale chain hotels all over this town, and none of them have compared to the overall experience here. If I tried to include everything I love about this place in this review, it would become one of those longwinded rambles most users of Unilocal find hard to get through.
Some highlights:
* Maintained in a way that has preserved and enhanced its historical elegance over the years. Just look at some of the pictures.
* I cannot even begin to tell you how courteous and responsive the staff are here. Some of the most well trained hotel staff I’ve ever encountered.
* There are two beautiful courtyards, both with very big and awesome pools.
* State-​of-​the-​art fitness center with gym quality machines of all types, accommodating both cardio and resistance training. It even has a full rack high-​quality rubber dumbbells.
* If you get one of the nicer rooms in the west building facing south, you’ll likely have a very spacious private balcony with a fantastic view of the Rio Grande.
* Rates are fairly comparable to other nicer hotels.
* The two very best restaurants in Laredo are part of the hotel: The Zaragoza Grill, and the Tack Room.
Some things you should know:
* It’s located in downtown Laredo. You can’t get any further downtown because the hotel is the last thing before crossing the river into Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. While downtown Laredo is loaded with all kinds of historic charm, it’s also an extremely shady area that I wouldn’t recommend braving alone. Otherwise, the hotel itself is practically a fortress if you stay in.
* Parking is interesting if you decide to self-​park. You must park below in what I call «The Dungeon» of the hotel. It’s really just an older parking garage, but there’s a lot of interesting things you’ll discover if you decide to explore it. One thing you absolutely must know is that upon entering the downward ramp, you have to stop, reverse, and correct your turn inwards, or else you will scrape the side of your vehicle against the outer wall. It’s just too tight of a turn. You can see years of paint on the wall memorializing all the dumb-​asses who tried to complete it in one turn and tragically ruined the paint job on their drivers side doors.
Despite any not-​so-​attractive aspects I might have described, again I urge you, if you are visiting Laredo you will be doing yourself a huge disservice if you don’t stay at the La Posada for all of the far outweighing benefits.

This hotel gets an A+ I was staying here with my band for a wedding we were playing in town and wasn’t expecting much with the accommodations provided for us but upon pulling up to La posada you’re met with a beautiful quaint peaceful looking hotel in the center of downtown friendly staff and good food at the restaurant. Most of all why this place has my undying appreciation is after a hectic morning the day of our check out I realized I didn’t have my wallet or iPod they sent someone up to my room to locate both. My wallet was discovered quickly and returned to me but my iPod was not, however I did just receive a package in the mail and lo and behold there is my iPod carefully packaged thank you La Posada!

Meh is all I can say I understand where they are trying to go but they really have not kept it up. We came on the forth and the pools were crazy full and loud with kids but the sound but surprising the room was quite. The room is a good size and clean nice décor but that is it. We came in straight to the parking lot and then had to make the walk to the front desk. The attendant never bothered treating us with nothing more than «your name?» Only spoke Spanish and did not bother giving us a map of the hotel. Got into the elevator and After asking 4 people where the desk was we had walked from one side of the property to the other just to have to walk back. At the front desk they never greeted us just took out cc. Also watch you cc they just copy it on a piece so paper for anyone to steal. Get to our «balcony» room an it faces a wall so that was our view. Close the rr door after you use it because it takes about 20mins for the toilet and the tv does have a high volume.

Let me go ahead and get the negative over with… The swim-​up pool bar has been closed for some time… disappointing but I got over it– real quick
This is the most elegant, charming hotel I have been to in years. The staff is most attentive. My husband recognized many of the staff members from his stay there in the 60’s on the day the hotel opened. Very courteous and dedicated team.
The grounds are beautiful, and pool areas well kept. The rooms are magnificent. We were moved from our room to a suite due to cable issues in our original room and it was a warm, inviting 2 room suite overlooking the river.
We enjoyed drinks at the Zaragoza Grill prior to dinner. Esteban was one of the originals there as well, and we enjoyed reminiscing with him before heading off to dinner at the Tack Room.
This is must for dinner. The prime rib at the Tack Room was delicious, the service perfect, and ambiance elegant. Understand, this is a small dining room up stairs.
Limited seating inside and a few tables outside, so go early. Dinner for 2 was $ 93.00 with a glass of e. wine for each of us… and worth every penny.
We only went for one night– a Friday– and will be back for a longer stay. It’s an amazing hotel, with the staff and amenities to match. Don’t be disappointed and stay for only a day…

Pleasantly surprised with this place. Love the décor, the architecture, the rooms are spacious, the employees are friendly.
However the beds are the most uncomfortable beds I’ve ever sleep in. The comforter smelled like stuck water, and I could never figured out how to get the right temperature for my room… For wanting to look expensive and the amount of money they charge per night you will think that they would ay least change the carpets…

Classic hotel with loads of charm long gone in today’s chain hotels. Our room was lovely and nicely furnished though it showed some age with some spots on the furniture and a bit of frayed carpeting, Hotel staff was accomodating and helpful. The hotel site is an interesting and historic part of old Laredo. We enjoyed the museum located next to the lobby.
We parked ourselves in the hotel’s garage located underneath the hotel. Be prepared for a tight squeeze as you wind your way down to lower levels.
We would happily return.

At first I enjoyed my stay with only a few minor pet peeves. But, then I was forced to endure «checkoutgate.» I have never been so insulted with a customer service experience! I was a speaker at a conference & used my 30 min. lunch to check out… With NO LINE or other customers to attend to, they took over 20 minutes attempting to process the parking charge. I finally pointed out that I was going to be late for my speech (I was!) & that if they could not charge me for the parking they should comp it because I had to go. Their attitude was atrocious! Finally they handed me a receipt that said «refund due $_​_​_​_​» But, because they were so snarky I decided to check with CHASE to see if they charged me. Sure enough, they lied. They charged me! So I call back to explain that they either need to process the promised refund or issue me another receipt so that I can expense the charge. What followed was a horrid experience. They called me all kinds of insulting things and hung up the phone. I would call back, ask for a Manager, they would hang up again or give me some excuse (along with more insulting comments). Clearly they have caller ID because eventually they stopped taking my calls. I call from my mom’s phone, they answer but once they hear its me its expletives and yelling and «don’t call us again!» and… Long story short, no matter what I did those two jerks at the front desk would keep me from accessing someone in Management and I was getting so furious now I was screaming. Long story short, I asked another conference guest to call the front desk and ask for Catering. THEN, I finally get a Manager. At first The Manager didn’t seem to believe the story (they ARE the nicest hotel in town, after all…). But, when I provided the information trail including the number of calls, he apologized and promised to look into it. Absolutely the worst experience ever!

My wife and I just returned from a trip to Laredo and spent two nights at the La Posada. This is our second visit and the only thing I can say is that we cant wait to return and stay there again. It was clean, quiet and comfortable. A perfect stay!

Good Location near downtown Laredo shopping. Room was large and felt old fashioned — in a good way — like a ski lodge. Helpful staff, good restaurant. Wifi wasn’t working.

I used to go here with my family back in the day, but recently went to meet up with my boyfriend, who works in South Texas. It is the nicest place you will stay or eat in Laredo. I will probably be back again.

tip: Since it’s not super busy like other hotels in major cities, the valet is not always around, resulting in some waiting. I would suggest calling the valet a few minutes before you’re ready to leave if you want to avoid this.

As far as location goes, it’s ideal. A few exits away from the mall, the border (if indeed it were safe to cross) and the downtown shopping. Cute hotel, I liked the set up.
Pros: the location, the double bedrooms were adorable. The free wifi is helpful, the concierge level is a MUST. Breakfast was free and so was the booze. The woman who runs it was sweet, attentive and caring.
Cons: the valet barely spoke english, he told me my car was parked on a level that it wasn’t (which was worrisome that close to the border). The front desk didn’t speak proper english and were very rude.
I paid a good price for the quality of the room. The service, not so much. Also, some things I think worth mentioning…
I asked the concierge where was an upscale place to eat and she said she had no idea. I asked about places nearby and naturally, she suggested the zaragoza grill attached to the hotel. I had my cup empty several times, the waiters were so busy conversing. All I ask for at a restaurant is clean dishware and a smile when they feed me. Can’t even get that. Shame.

I recently stayed 4 nights at La Posada with coworkers on a business trip. We found the place to be overall a fine hotel. Some things to note that I remember:
Positives:
* Beautifully restored historic building in old downtown part of town — right on the river and the US-​Mexico border (may be positive or negative, depending on whether you plan to visit Nuevo Laredo while in Laredo). Building has a lot more character than most hotels of this price range.
* 3 fine restaurants on-​site
* Very reasonable rates (with our corporate discount) & breakfast included
* Each room has French door entrances overlooking a courtyard
* Multiple pools
* Free Wi-​Fi internet
* Convenient covered parking under the building
Negatives:
* Some may consider the area beyond the courtyard in front of hotel to be undesirable, or even unsafe at night, but hotel vicinity is fine
* Hotel difficult to find, and signs at border crossing can be confusing (Trust your GPS when it tells you to go PAST (but not through) the border crossing after you get off the freeway!)
* Phone reservations were poorly done — given smoking room (asked for nonsmoking), name incorrect, rate incorrect, no email confirmation sent as promised (email address was noted incorrectly), so we did not find the errors until check-​in time
* Had flooding problems when raining. Many lobby doors, and some room doors were barricaded with towels and sand bags.
This hotel has more charm than the chain hotels at a similar (or even lower) price point. The neighborhood is authentic Laredo and that is a negative or positive depending on how you take it. I would recommend the hotel to my friends, as I think if they are staying there for the first time, they will come away pleasantly surprised.
