Market Barbeque

I give this place 1 star because Unilocal won’t allow me to give negative stars.
This is without a doubt the worst barbecue I have ever had. To call this food barbecue is an affront to barbecue across the world. A McDonalds McRib is closer to authentic barbecue than this abomination of precooked reheated garbage.
The brisket is dry and has no smokey bbq flavor. I am unsure how to describe their sauce. I cannot compare it to Rudys sauce as it would be unfair to compare it to one of the best sauces available. This bbq sauce tastes like they bought a gallon of Hill Country Fair BBQ sauce, mixed it with a gallon of ketchup, and added toilet water to taste. I don’t know how it can taste both bland and sour at the same time but they apparently found the secret to that flavor.
The sausage looks like a slice of Oscar Meyer bologna that was put in the toaster so it could brown. I hesitate to make that comparison though because I can only assume Oscar Meyer bologna would not taste as terrible as the disgusting slice of «meat» I was given.
The sides are worse than anything you could get at a local grocery store deli. The beans were cold and flavorless, I would completely believe that they had just opened a can of pinto beans and poured them out. I would not believe that this was Bush’s baked beans though, this was definitely some sort of generic brand pinto bean similar to what you’d find in a high school cafeteria.
I was however impressed by one thing at this restaurant. Potato salad is pretty hard to get wrong, but low and behold the brilliant «chefs» at Market Barbeque found a way to make it inedible.
Overall I would not recommend this food to anyone. Given the choice between eating this food and being waterboarded I would immediately choose waterboarding. I would rate this as not only the worst BBQ I have ever had, but I will go as far as to say that this is the worst «food» I have ever eaten beating out the roasted cat I ate in Afghanistan.
The only good thing about this restaurant is the location within walking distance of HEB allows you to quickly buy Pepto Bismol to settle your stomach and some mouthwash to disinfect your mouth from the assault this food will commit to your taste buds.

Best tasting Barbeque in Laredo. Our Family had a great meal & have found a new place to enjoy time together after work & school. Hubby Love the Pork ribs–
we all shared & ordered more to take home to our sons.
BBQ brisket, large baked potato my fav /​daughters loved smoked lean turkey, corn & potato salad. Finally, found a local down home country style BBQ place to eat at often.

Friendly staff an convenient location. I also thought that although small, the dining area was nice. I have allot of friends who love this place but, unfortunately, I was not as impressed. Ordering is confusing; there are no signs telling you where you should order and the person we gave our order to seemed to be bothered that we did not know that he only took the meat order and sides was taken by another person. The person taking the sides orders was not there. Looking into the kitchen there was a little bit of a mess but what really stood out was a dirty kitchen towel on the food counter. One of the two biggest turn offs was the meats are pre-​sliced and stored in plastic bags. The bags are kept in hot water steamers. The pulled pork and sausage I had were both cold. The sides I ordered were both cold and the fries ordered by my sister took way too long to come out. They were the only hot side we got. It was later explained to me that some of the sides may be cold as their «heat lamps» were out. Heat lamps was the second big turn off. I usually do not like to use allot of sauces but tried their regular and spicy BBQ sauce. The regular was pretty good however the spicy was flavorless and tasted like red vegetable oil. Will go back to try again but it sure is going to be hard to get past pre-​sliced meats and heat lamps!
