Amish Country Store

Cute little market a bit off the main drag of West Bay but easy to find once you get the street right. Right off 13^th St. across from Diagnostic Clinic. I went around 1 o’clock on a Friday and there was plenty of street parking.
Old fashioned country store in a small old house with a little sprinkling of antiques and meandering aisles that invite you to wander. The folks are not Amish, but they import Amish goods from Pennsylvania & Ohio. They also feature local bakeries and other local fare. Depending on the area of the country you’re from, you may see some familiar items (Squirt Soda and Utz Chips!), but you’re also sure to see some that you’ve never seen before. In addition to the groceries They offer freshly made sandwiches and entrées to take home.
Some items are a little pricey (I confess I paid way too much — $ 15 — for 2 ½ pounds of Amish rolled butter, but hey, this is BUTTER we’re taking about here and who can put a price on that?!), but the deli sandwiches and side dishes are delicious and very reasonably priced, including a take-​home-​and-​heat homemade shepherds pie for $ 10.95.
One final word of advice — if you don’t try anything else you must have the Rumslinger sandwich $ 5.95). Just have it. Seriously. Get the sandwich. I’m not kidding.

Excellent portions for the price. The trio salad is my go-​to. A bed of lettuce with a scoop of ham salad, chicken salad, and tuna salad. All of this for $ 4.50! I am originally from the PA area so being able to buy these products in Florida is great!

Finding this place was a pleasant surprise. I picked up Lebanon Bologna, Middleswarth BBQ chips and birch beer! Way to make a girl originally from PA happy. It’s comforting to see nostalgic brands.
A friendly gentleman greeted us when we walked in. There’s a couple of tiny rooms featuring a good selection of candy, chips, soda, cheeses, meats and jarred items. The prices are good too.

Stop in here for a YUMMY custom made sandwich! Don’t forget to order it with SWEET Bologna! So yummy!!! Huge portion and cheap priced sandwiches! Support your towns local privately owned businesses!!!

Everything from back home in Pa. Root beer, middlesworth chips, chow chow. Omg. Sandwiches made to order. Pulled pork! I got a triple decker club (enough to share) almost a pound of slaw, and ½ lb horseradish cheese. $ 12. Sandwiches are out of this world. Beef sticks and lebanon the best I’ve had.

Another hidden gem in Largo. The Amish Country Store. This store is WELL hidden too. Largo Medical Center is on 14^st SW, this store is just east on 13^th st SW. They even recommend that you call for directions.
My wife has raved about this place as a great stop to get takeout lunches. She was so right. But this store is so much more. It’s like you stepped into the 1920’s or 30’s country store. Shelves lined with containers and bags of candy. Turn the corner and there are heavy pots and pans for sale. Enter into the back room… you are now in a Pennsylvania Dutch grocery store. Brand names I’ve never heard of, but if you’re from Pennsylvania, you will feel at home here.
The meat case will make your mouth water. A great variety of deli meats, Amish and specialty cheeses. Scrapple, sausages, bacon, hot dogs, ring bologna to name a few.
Their sandwiches are made fresh to order deli style with Pennsylvania Dutch luncheon meats & cheeses. All sandwiches are served with green olives and wrapped for takeout. On this day they offered a special roast beef sandwich. When I arrived home I was surprised to find it warm. It was more like a pot roast sandwich with incredible flavor, it was wonderful!
They also have a variety of freshly made salads and soups. Their hot specials change from day to day. On this day it was meatloaf with mashed potatoes.
Hours are Tues thru Fri 9 – 5 sat 9 – 4 Closed Sun and Mon.

I tasted and purchased some Adrondack Diet veverages in Pigeon Forge, TN and after coming home to DeLand, Fl I tried to find a local store. The nearest one was some Health Food Store in Brooksville, Fl. When I called them they said they would not get it because of the Splenda sweetner which they would not buy. I found The Amish Country Store and they ordered 9 cased for me. Even though it was on the west coast of Florida for me it was worth the trip. Thanks to all the people at The Amish Country Store.

They have birch beer and Lebanon bologna, ‘nough said.

Stopped by this store a few days ago between appointments. It’s located in a small house, which limits their offerings a bit. But they definitely take advantage of every space, packing it with all kinds of products from Amish country, mostly foods. They seem to have every imaginable bagged snack food I ever saw in my travels up that way in PA, a good selection of beverages, a lots and lots of deli offerings (the sausages looked great.) I had already eaten lunch, so I wasn’t inclined to try one of their sandwiches, but I was sorely tempted. I schedule on for next time, for sure.
The refrigerator cases are filled with lots of drinks from that area, too… I recognized many brands. For some reason reason I had never tried authentic ginger beer, so I asked what it tasted like. The kind woman said, «Kind of like root beer, but red.» I said, «What does red taste like?» and she answered, «I’m not sure, but it tastes red to me!» We had a good laugh, and as I always live life on the edge, I gave it a try, and I had to agree… it tasted red!
They have a huge selection of bulk spices, at what I thought were good prices, too. I’ll likely go back there when I need to replenish the stock at home. They also had a big selection of used cast iron frying pans in good shape and what seemed like good prices. A convenient way to pick up this essential cookware if you don’t want to hunt them down at thrift stores or yard sales.
Amish Country Store is definitely worth a stop if you like foods from that part of the country.

Although it boasts two rooms, this shop isn’t much larger than the ad they run in the St. Petersburg Times, which is how I discovered it. Still, they creatively have managed to ultilize every last square inch of space, stocking shelves, counters, nooks, and crannies with delectable Pennyslvania Dutch foodstuffs and attractive gift items. A refrigerated case is filled with a seemingly endless array of meats — a wide variety of bolognas and sausages, kielbasa and franks, and smoked baked ham — cheeses, including a rich Amish Swiss and a super-​sharp white cheddar, and salads, such as pickled beets with eggs and pepper cabbage with a heady dressing. You’ll find jars of apple butter, pickles and relishes, jams and preserves, candies like licorice sticks, sassafras drops, and peanut brittle, bottles of molasses and maple syrup, bags of potato chips and pretzels, and boxes filled with mixes for shoofly pie, funnel cake, and pancakes. Barrels are filled with bulk items such as pearl tapioca, noodles, spices, oats, and dried fruits. Non-​edible merchandise includes cookbooks, tablecloths and napkins, tea towels, pot holders and aprons, hand-​crafted dolls, rugs, and brooms, homemade soaps, and wind chimes. Tucked away on a side street and out-​of-​view from the main drag, they rely heavily on word-​of-​mouth, repeat business, and that tiny ad. Unique stock and reasonable prices have lured the crowds since 1997. If the sausage I’m preparing for dinner is as good as the cheese and slaw I had for lunch, I’ll be a regular for however long I remain in the area.
