Mako’s on the Rocks

Two years ago this place seemed pretty legit; bands music, divers atmosphere. Lately it feels as if it’s ending into the trashy side. The last two times there were overly drunk, arguing guests that weren’t asked to leave and the band might have been good if the volume weren’t making my ears ring. The two goods are outside seating and generally a fairly clean restroom.

Of dives, think about all of the shit bags you made fun of in high school and then image them congregating in one location, wel that’s makos.
The music personifies the worst part of the nineties while attracting the flounders and bottom feeders of largo and pinellas park, except the girls don’t have he young cuteness of high school … The atmosphere is upbeat, and that’s a good positive thing, however no matter how good you feel, the girls simply wont look any better.

I’ve been in to Mako’s twice. It’s not a bad place, but its a strange vibe, imagine a lounge a dance club and a bar had a baby…

Was at the beach and heard this place had live music so I called and was told yes we have Sweet Spot tonight. I asked what time he said about 7 so we headed there since it was 6:50. Got there like 7:10 and there was a $ 2 cover. Paid it. Was one guy singing to recorded music but I’m thinking band soon. Ask bartender what kind of music band plays and he says they don’t start til 10:30 so I’m like why did we pay a cover at 7. He got an attitude and said its like a football game. Really? No comparison. We are not going to be here at 10:30. Got the $ 4 back and then he pretty much insisted we cash out like we are trying to stay for band and rip them out of the cover. Never will darken their door again.

I went at Makos few times it good place to go out if you 50 and up. Good atmosphere not expensive drinks every day live music.

Went here last Friday, they had a band that was A-​ok, drinks are reasonable and the place is clean… Clients are every age range from 21 – 61, so can’t mis the mark there. Just a Normal no frills attached kinda place. Staff was friendly, people were people were ordering pizza from across the way so assuming they didn’t serve food. Thankfully we were just drinking. Will return if in area again.

I was at Mako’s a couple of times through the past winter season. Their entertainment is exceptional, the staff are friendly, and everything is reasonably priced. Can’t wait to head back there this winter… Last year we went on a Monday afternoon and the place was packed!!!

This place is very popular in the area. The times I have been on weekends it is packed. They had live top 40 type bands playing dance music. There were lots of people dancing, and lots of folks congregating. When you have lively music, drinks, and a lively crowd, you can have a good time. The atmosphere did kind of give me a throw back to the 80’s vibe, with the format and the bit older crowd.

I absolutely love this place. It is a fun spot to just relax and get drinks. The drink prices are very reasonable. They have $ 1 drink nights on Mondays and $ 2 fireball and pinnacle flavors. The staff is upbeat and deliver great service. I enjoy all the events they have going on. It’s always something new and exciting. I love this bar!

The bartender told me this place is about three years old, so I’m not sure why it’s not on Unilocal.Anyway, we came here on a Saturday night and it was PACKED. Parking was overflowing but it was definitely worth the trouble.
It’s more of a bar/​club than anything. Big dance floor, live and very, very loud music, but this is mostly a 35+/divorcee place. Lots and lots of single women scanning the area for their next victim. I got hit on so many times, I thought my date was going to throw down and start some fights. And the girls far outnumber the guys here so, guys, if you’re looking for single women, look no further.
They also have a very nice patio area with a little tiki bar that has Longboard on draft (yay!) so I was very happy. Bartender was very friendly and quick. Great people watching too. I saw so many 50+ guys who were denying their true age and dressing/​styling their hair like they were 30 years younger. One of the highlights was this 50 year old dude wearing a sequined shirt. Yes, a sequined shirt. Funny stuff.
But yeah, I’ll definitely be back soon.
