Dr. Thummala joined Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada in January 2006. Previously, she was practicing in a single specialty group in Texas. While practicing in Texas, she acted as the physician liaison appointed by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and served on the Cancer Committee. She also worked as a Medical Director for a Hospice Program.

Dr. Thummala focuses on the treatment of all types of cancers with a special interest in breast, colon and lung cancers/​research. She also published a study on the treatment of hot flashes in women with breast cancer, a trial using preoperative ceftuzumab in rectal cancer patients and recently a randomized phase 2 study of PD 332 991, a cyclin-​dependent kinase (CDK) ⁴⁄₆ inhibitor, in combination with letrozole vs letrozole alone for first-​line treatment of ER+/HER2– advanced breast cancer (BC).
