History

Established in 1988.

Was previously the Charleston Heights Bowling Alley, opened as a casino on April 22, 1988. In September of 1988 a race & sportsbook with 12 TV’s and seating for 30 people was opened. The casino also had their first bingo games in a tent towards the back of the property until a room is built.

Major construction and renovations took place in 1992, the bowling alley was closed. Several restaurants were added and the original Sourdough Café was relocated.

The casino was bought in 1998 by Carl Ichan. Live keno was opened in 2000.

In Feb. 2008, the four Nevada properties — Arizona Charlie’s Boulder, Arizona Charlie’s Decatur, the Stratosphere Casino Hotel and Tower, and the Aquarius Casino in Laughlin — were bought by American Casino Entertainment Properties.

In April of 2010, the first fully inclosed non-​smoking slot room in the city was opened.

Meet the Manager

Ron L.

Manager

Ron Lurie is a 32 year veteran of the gaming industry and is the executive vice president and general manager of Arizona Charlie’s Decatur.

Ron has been a resident of Las Vegas for more than 50 years. In addition to his career in gaming, Ron has also been very involved in the development and growth of the Las Vegas and surrounding communities. He served 14 years as a Las Vegas City Councilman, four years as the Mayor of the City and six years as a member of the State of Nevada Wildlife Commission.

His commitment to the betterment of the Las Vegas community as well as his service as board member and past president of many local charitable organizations as well as governmental boards, makes him a highly sought after advisor in our community.

Ron’s desire to make sure Las Vegas is a better place for future generations is demonstrated by

his history as a pace setter in and dedication to the community in which he lives and works.
