Border Grill was called «a stylish funky, pleasantly raucous place,» by Travel + Leisure magazine, while Gourmet stated simply, it’s «one of America’s best restaurants.» Started by famed chefs Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger, this lively Mexican restaurant is expansive. From the bar to the patio views of Mandalay Bay Beach, every table has a little fire of Food Network’s «Too Hot Tamales.»

Border Grill at Mandalay Bay has been named:

* Best Margarita 2014

* Best Spirit Pairing Dinners 2013

* Best Mexican Restaurant 2012

* Best Brunch in Vegas 2012

Mandalay Bay

You’re not a tourist, you’re a resortist. That’s why your Vegas venue should be a unique escape, full of relaxation, entertainment and excitement. Our shimmering gold towers mark the city’s premier beach experience, Shark Reef Aquarium and the culinary workshops of eight celebrity chefs. Enjoy the city’s most breathtaking view of The Strip, and since Mandalay Bay Resort has everything you’d want, venturing out there is entirely optional.

History

Established in 1999.

In 1985, Chefs Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger packed a VW bug and took a road trip far south of the Mexican border. Never setting foot in a «fine restaurant,» they learned the recipes and techniques of market vendors and home cooks, from street corners in downtown Mexico City to back road family barbecues and taco stands along the beach. When they returned, they opened Border Grill in Los Angeles and «applied the same intelligence,» noted Los Angeles Magazine, «to green corn tamales and cactus-paddle tacos that other chefs might to a lobe of foie gras.» Border Grill quickly established a new standard for gourmet Mexican fare.

Cooking together for over 25 years, Mary Sue and Susan have started several restaurants, written five cookbooks, and starred in nearly 400 episodes of Food Network’s «Too Hot Tamales» and «Tamales World Tour» series.
