Specialties
This business focuses on providing the community with support, service, repairs and maintenance to resolve and maintain all types of ponds in the greater Las Vegas valley and Boulder City.
With a «Go Green» emphasis, (take for instance by using aggressive evergreen aquatic plants to consume the nitrates out of pond water, thus out-competing algae for food), pond problems are addressed, which takes patience for an ecosystem to become established, but once it is established, it grows stronger each year. The many benefits of creating an ecosystem, rather than forcing clear water through the use of chemicals such as algaecides, blockers, floculents, expensive UVB light bulbs, is enormous.
Filtration design is key to success and is so very important because if a filter is not designed to be easily and quickly cleaned with minimal fuss, then the customer is unlikely to stay up on cleaning the filter. Most filters on the market fall far short of the mark of being easy to clean.
History
Established in 1991.
Paul Des Roches began designing and building exotic animal habitats (all of which contained ponds and custom filters) in 1991, working in the pet industry, with an emphasis on reptile and amphibian exhibits. Following that came 6 years as a professional waterfall designer /builder. Paul found that Las Vegas was desperate for a company with the focus of resolving pond problems in 2002, by learning that there is an epidemic of poorly designed ponds and unhappy customers, and has since worked full time running this pond service business.
Meet the Business Owner
Paul D.
Business Owner
Paul has been caring for exotic animals his whole life. He began the company Lizard Wizard in 1991, which had two focuses. One was the designing and building of habitats for reptiles and amphibians, and the other was building heating rocks, trees and windowsill heaters which were reptile safe because there was an epidemic of large reptiles being severely burned by the «hot rocks» on the market. The artificial rocks and trees being produced gained so much popularity that Paul was asked to sculpt the handrails at the Rainforest Café at MGM Las Vegas, 3000 miles away from where he was residing. In 1997, with Las Vegas booming, Paul moved here to continue to grow in rock and waterfall sculpting services and worked in that field for 6 years, with a number of pond requests coming in. This gave him the background needed to couple all of his exotic animal water filtration experience with pond and waterfall design experience to become proficient at pond problem resolution.
