Darin Swainston, MD, FACOG – WHASN

Dr. Swainston is wonderful. Yes his staff could definitely be improved but that is not solely up to him. I have been forgotten and I prepay visits then later have to call their billing department to have them apply it, but he cares about his patients and really listens to you. Once I had a horrible sinus infection and couldn’t get in to see my primary care physician so he gave me a script for it.
He did my surgery for endometriosis 11÷5÷14 and is now working with me to help me get pregnant. He is wonderful.

I love Dr. Swainston & his staff. The nurses are all very nice. His office is almost always very busy but I don’t mind waiting and haven’t ever waited over and hour to be seen. This is my second pregnancy and I have been amazed at the differences from my first pregnancy experience with a different doctor. I highly recommend him :)

Dr. Swainston is by far the best I’ve had. And he also performed my surgery last July and it went great. I would recommend him to anyone. I’m now taking clomid to become pregnant. I trust him in that also. Thank you Dr. Swainston. Your patient Crystal winford

Dr. Swainston is a great physician HOWEVER his staff is horrible! The office manager Kendall plus the scheduler Alexis have horrible customer service, they could careless about you or your unborn baby. STAY AWAY FROM THIS OFFICE !!

First, I want to say how amazing Dr. Swainston is. I love him and wish that his staff could be ½ as amazing as he is.
Because of his staff including office manager, I have decided to go elsewhere. His staff is very incompetent and nasty to deal with. From forgetting about you to not getting you the proper information (rx, instructions for procedures they are doing).
Then to top it off, you have to deal with their billing errors & department (who take forever to call you back with no real answer). They tend to over charge you, even after they verified what your copay is going to be. Then to request a refund is like pulling teeth. They over charged me almost a year ago and I have yet to receive a refund even though I have requested on several occassions. STILL WAITING FOR MY MONEY BACK.
I wish Dr. Swainston would care enough about his patients and find staff that meet his excellence so I can come back.

Good doctor but horrible care.
Dr. Swainston’s office is horribly managed. From three hours waits for appointments, to «forgetting» to send prescriptions to the pharmacy to «forgetting» to follow up on positive lab test results, and «forgetting» that you are there for an appointment, they are the worst run medical practice I have ever seen.
I understand that some of the problem may stem from the fact that Dr. Swainston is a good surgeon and he has a busy practice. But lots of doctors have busy practices yet they have adequate competent staffing. You can never get access to him and it’s almost impossible to even get the attention of a nurse. You have to double check everything that is being done as they promise to do things and then do it wrong or never do it at all. You have to constantly be on hold only for them to take a message and then not bother calling you back.
For a prescription that was supposed to have several refills authorized, I had to call nurse to get it, called twice without a call back, and finally gave up trying to get the nurse. I got an appointment to see the doctor to try to get it filled, get told that they had sent it in and that pharmacy had made a mistake, told me they would resend it to make sure, never sent it, had to wait for 4 days over a long weekend to get a nurse to call me back to try to get it authorized. Why does it take over a half dozen phone calls and an additional doctor visit to follow up just to get one prescription that was supposed to have refills already to get written properly? Why does it have to take 6 hours out of my life to get one prescription properly filled?
This is just one example.
I had a surgery with Dr. Swainston several months ago. I had a lot of complications. And I believe that all of them were due to the fact there was not proper care before and after the surgery. So does it matter how good a surgeon is if the pre-​care and post-​care is crappy? I suffered needlessly for months due to their bad care.
If you have any other choice, avoid this doctor. He’s good but his team is clearly overwhelmed and/​or does not care enough to improve the care it gives it’s patients. It’s just not worth it. It’s really a nightmare dealing with them. I am so glad I no longer need to deal with their practice again.

Out of all my life, I’ve never HATED a practice this much in my life. Whenever I call I’m on hold for 15 – 25 mins minimum. They call me and tell me my results are positive and then they send me a letter saying my results are negative, so which one is it then??? So I call them waited on hold just for them to tell me «THEY DONT KNOW and that They have to call me the next day «. Mind you I had my Pap smear January 31 and didn’t get results for 2.5 weeks, and the ONLY reason I got my results by phone is because I called them 4 times, but those 4 times they told me they’d call me back, NEVER DID. and come to find out my results never came back from the lab. Then I get a letter 1 week later saying my results are normal. I go to get my medical records from them to change doctors and wait 40 mins for them to tell me they can’t get it off the computer because «they have a new system». The staff is absolutely horrid and inappropriate. I only went there once and they have put me through way too much. These people don’t care about their patients at all.

I hear Dr swainston is great for pregnant patients, but you better hope you never have any other issues (bad pap etc.) I started going to his office to see Dr Reynolds when I found out I was pregnant with my first child and I loved her. She was always so kind and easy to talk to. after I had my son I changed my insurance and sadly it was one of the two that Dr Reynolds didn’t take so they hooked me up with Dr Swainston. The nurse practitioner did my annual pap and she was great also. Then almost a week later I get a call from the office saying I had an abnormal pap and that it could cause infertility if not treated and that I would have to take some meds 4 times a day for 3 weeks (that’s a lot of meds!). So I said okay and they faxed my pharmacy and I waited a few hours and then went to pick it up when it was done. I went to pick it up and the pharmacist mentioned that Dr Swainston had ordered the only thing I’m allergic to (and have been for many years and it’s all over my Dr forms everywhere!) ! Tried to call the office and it was closed. The pharmacy tried to get a hold of the on call Dr. with no luck. And the next day I called Swainstons office and was told that he was in surgery all day and they were trying to get a hold of him and he wasn’t answering. And my pharmacy called them twice to try and get something resolved but with no progress. Here I am day 3 with no new prescription and no word from Swainston. I called the office again this morning and apparently Swainston can just drop off the face of the world any and every week day. Seriously how long does it take for him to send a simple message with a new prescription?
A professional Doctor office does NOT call you tell you that you have a bacteria that can cause infertility if not treated and then prescribe you medication you are allergic too and then avoid you for DAYS leaving you in pain, stress and slight panic with avoiding you and not fixing the problem. I am NEVER going back to this practice ever again. My body and future may not be important to «Doctor» Swainston, but it is to me.

Pardon me for not being as funny and silly as I usually am, but ladies you need to know how seriously awesome this practice is. Incredible care! Not to get too personal, but I am a really large woman. I’m also about 10 minutes away from being 50. Finding a good ob/​gyn is even more difficult for women of size and menopausal age. I don’t know if you would call it a speciality, but Dr. Swainston knows how to examine larger women. He knows the obstacles and concerns and made me feel incredibly safe and comfortable and accepted.
Everyone in this very busy office takes the time to make sure that patients are getting what they need. Be prepared that it is a busy practice and sometimes it takes a few tries to get through via phone. But hey, this is a practice for women and babies about to be born. There are going to be emergencies and delays right? However, everyone in the office knows how to get information. I’m a relatively new paritent and I had an unexpected medical emergency, unrelated to gyn issues — blood clot in leg. Dr. Swainston called me at UMC, a hospital where he does not have privileges, to check on me. He brought me in after I was released to make sure that my gyn care matched my needs in terms of the clot medication.
He’s incredibly kind and honest and easy to talk to because he is a listener. Most importantly, he is talented and knowledgable, A friend had a complicated pregnacy recently and Dr. Swainston ahd his associate took over her care. The job they did was amazing. Mother and baby are beautiful and healthy.
Ladies, I don’t care that sending you here will make the office even busier, you must go to this doctor!
