David Copperfield

This show is awful. Waste of money and time for a ridiculously juvenile and dissapointing show. I am never one to complain about price as long as the quality is in the product. However, I would’ve been disappointed with this show if I had paid $ 20 not the gouge price off$ 100 plus.
Lame, lame, lame. A robotic alien that is a Yoda rip off that you found @ Roswell?
I am also disappointed in my fellow Unilocalers, as your reviews were very misleading. I would hope that many of you would have better taste. If you could sit through this show without nodding off or having your eyes fall out from rolling so much because of the lame set, then I wouldn’t trust you to pick out my socks in the morning.
Again, this is a PSA. Do not waste your money on this order hyped, over rated, has been, Con artist.

My husband and I both loved this show. David Copperfield is timeless. I have seen him on television, but this is the first time I had the opportunity to view his show in person and I was not disappointed. I loved the message that he incorporated into his performance and the fact that he used audience participation. He was engaging and had me wondering how he performed his magic. I was thoroughly entertained and captivated by the production. It was a lovely evening!

I have been here in October 2013. What an amazing show. So many things i still don’t understand. How is it possible to do so good tricks and skills while you watching live. He have blown me away! The show was really good. He really played his tricks with the visitors.
The show was in the MGM Grand hotel. If you are staying enough days in Vegas you should go here, I bet you have a very good time here.
Maybe in the future i will come back visiting a show of him again. Vegas or not.

If you happen to be up $ 100+ gambling then I would consider seeing Copperfield otherwise I would spend your money elsewhere. Copperfield has been on my list for quite some time now and I can finally cross it off. The show just isn’t worth the money they are asking. While Copperfield himself was fantastic and very engaging with the audience the show was just ok.
I was really expecting more magic and less like an episode of Sesame Street with all the story telling going on, some of the skits just drug on too long. Sure there was some cool stuff but I really just wasn’t impressed with the overall theme of the show. It felt very gimmicky and not authentic.
Again Copperfield himself was great and overall entertaining especially with his interaction with the audience but it didn’t make up for the actual show being not so great. If you are expecting to see a magic show, expect some magic but you will most likely be disappointed. Instead prepare for story time with a side show of some magic.

This is the worst experience Ive ever had in Vegas. And I won’t even be afraid to use the word «scam». Yes, this is a total scam and a ripoff.
It may be good for a 7 – 10 year old, but if you have an above average iq, stay away. My bad for being carried away with his illustrious name and not reading Unilocal reviews prior to that awful experience. Shameful, really.

Can’t believe I spent $ 130 on a ticket, my seat is at 9A 4, I’m literally against the stairs at stage. The sound system is so bad I couldn’t even hear what David copperfield is speaking. I should maybe go see a doctor right afterwards because I have neck pain due to the stage is on top of my head. Many of the magic and drama make me doubt if David is an illusionist or actor. Come see the show if you hate to lose to the Casino and don’t know where else to spend your extra money.

Amazing show! David Copperfield is both magician and entertainer during this show. He is funny and can make you want to cry all in the same 90 minutes.
I don’t even know what I liked best, his entrance, his tribute to his family, the napkin, finale, I honestly am not sure. All I know is we loved his show very much and will for sure come back again. Our kids would love it!
I also loved his message of Living the Impossible. It is such a great message for anyone to never let someone tell them they cannot accomplish their dreams. It is about exceeding the limits of what you think you can do. Do not let anyone tell you that you cannot do something or be something.
I honestly never realized David Copperfield was so funny but he truly is. We laughed at many moments of the show, due to his personality.
If you have the opportunity to see him live, DO IT! You will not regret it.

I was hoping for a great show. something that would blow my mind, but all I saw was some old tricks that I’ve seen before elsewhere. His tricks weren’t very innovative and I left disappointed. If the tickets were cheaper than it wouldn’t have been so bad, but for the price that my sis and I spent, i was expecting something more extravagant.
If you watch magic shows or magic tricks done by other magicians then you’ve pretty much seen it all. The tricks are all very similar to each other, but in different formats. Nothing too surprising.
I wouldn’t buy tickets to this show again. I’ll use that money for food or to get tickets to other shows.

Wasn’t as good as I had thought. The magic parts were cool, but audience involved, really just stood around on stage, was stupid.
I was let down, bored. And the ending really was a let down

David Copperfield has been around for a long time. There is a reason for this. His delivery and timing when performing are flawless. There are other magicians who do some of the same illusions but none with the believably of Copperfield. Copperfield doesn’t confine himself to the stage, he gets into the crowd. His opening illusion had him make a man levitate and disappear while he was standing in the audience. He has a bit using a robotic character.
You won’t be disappointed if you go to this show.

Back in 2010
David is a great magician but I personally I think he can be a bit full of himself. From his show you will get him and his magic tricks. No scenary and no story just him. However he does involve the audience quite a lot and everytime he has a lady go on stage to help him he always points to his cheek at the end of the trick for a kiss before the lady goes back to her seat in the audience. So all you ladies out there that want to have a chance to possibly kiss David Copperfield then go and see him but personally I prefer Lance Burton.
I am not saying that I do not like David as I do as I have liked David for a long time but since I saw Lance out there on same day I compared both men and there shows and personalities and Lance comes out on top more than David.

This is the fifth time I’ve seen David copper field and he is always amazing! He changed his show to include a dinosaur trick but he cut out some of his better tricks like cutting himself in half and walking down the stairs holding his legs.
He also didn’t do his large audience disappearing act.
There was too much talking with the alien and I don’t really enjoy the prediction tricks as much. Glad to see he cut out the cheesy show girls from his act.

Loved every moment of it. At first, I did not want to go at all. Now, I’m glad I went because its one of the highlights of Vegas. Very entertaining and he involves the audience as well.

Let me say this, this is a pg 13 type of show, def not G. There are innuendos and some language but nothing that you won’t see or hear on tv. I took my wife and kids and we enjoyed the show and were very well entertained. David had a good story line going on which allowed for introduction of illusions. Some illusions were really good and others made you really wonder if they were crew planted in the audience. I won’t spoil the details of the show by being extra specific but there are some points that of the show that seemed a little hokey i.e. Large Flying object. Especially with the type of technology available these days.
David did some illusions so close to us that it was amazing very cool since not all Vegas shows come up close and personal. I’m giving it 4 stars because I can’t do 4 ½, the show wasn’t totally flawless but just a minor visual thing I noticed because of my sensitivity to details of things I see.
I’ve seen some really really good up close slight of hand illusions which David still does well, but I saw some stuff that give a hint of what was going on to creat the illusion. Up close illusions are tough especially with large crowds, lighting and cameras showing everything but he still pulled it off well, didn’t mess up big to kill the illusion but wasn’t flawless.
Overall show was still amazing and thinking back, I’ll go see him again in the future.

If we didnt have to pay 125 $ per ticket, but 35 – 45 $ I would give 3 stars. Coz that feels like fair price. Just saw him on 29^th, truly disappointed. Everything seems rushed, man lacks enthusiasm, I don’t know but there were none of that wow factor.
Ever since watching him on TV back in USSR, i dreamed to one day attend one of his shows… Disappointed…
Should have gone to one of the cirque du soleil shows instead

This was the worst show ever, please don’t waste your money. Half of the show was dedicated to him talking to an animatronic alien and making fart jokes to the audience. At the end he makes the little alien go home in a space ship which he shows flying out over the MGM Grand with crappy computer graphics. Was I really supposed to believe this?
At one point I think the PA system messed up because a bunch of canned audience laughter came out from up and behind us.
Also he makes a bunch of semi racist comments to the «audience» members he selects.

I was a little skeptical on coming out to watch this show being a magician’s assistant on the strip for two years here in Las Vegas, but surprisingly, this show blew me away.
I was excited to watch this living legend, but in the back on my mind I thought the show would have the same tricks as most magic shows have here in town. I was wrong. He delivered his illusions with ease and had his audience engaged the whole time. He had the largest props but everything went so well with the help of his stage crew. I was a little disappointed that David didn’t have any female assistants in his show but by the end I realized that he was so good that he didn’t even need any female distractions.
A standing ovation from me to David and his male crew of 20 because the production was seamless and brilliant!!! =]

I don’t quite know where to start with this one…
I’ve always been a fan of magic and illusions, so when the opportunity arose to see the master of illusion, David Copperfield in action, I jumped on it. I shelled out $ 170 for my girlfriend and I to go (that’s getting discount tickets too) in the hopes we could have a memorable evening.
It was definitely memorable, but for all the wrong reasons.
First and foremost, the alien bit that everyone complains about is truly as bad as it is made out to be. I have NO idea what the point of it was, he could very easily have accomplished the same trick in 5 minutes rather than 30 if he took out the boring story around it.
The second thing that struck us was the use of casual racism in the show. He was talking to an Asian gentleman in the audience who clearly didn’t speak much English and he made and repeated a comment several times referring to the guys penis as his «egg roll» which was not only racist, but just plain weird. He also put on a fake Asian accent at a couple of points. Another person of Asian origin was in the audience from Seattle and was American. David made a couple of comments and started talking to him in Cantonese saying he was going to teach him «his own language»! Pretty awful.
Was hoping for the big saw finale, but nothing of the sort. He just played a video where he hugged his dad and appeared in the middle of a dark auditorium.
He came across as washed up and plugging cheap jokes and making fun of people, rather than actually impressing with his illusions.
Would not see this show again, hopefully others don’t get stung with paying to see it either.

Yes, when I was little I had a crush on David Copperfield. My parents and I would watch his shows on VHS (I’m old) and I used to request magic kits for my birthday.
SO seeing David Copperfield live was a dream come true!!! I don’t want to spoil the show for anyone but I’ll just say it’s well worth it. Definitely sit in the second Row from the front/​Center for best seating. We sat on the front far left and were kind of bummed. Seating is crucial for this show!
But still totally worth it and I would come again! Just wish I hadn’t forgotten our cups.$ 20 rum and Coke that comes in a giant souvenir glass. Worth it because they pour HEAVY, and you get a cool glass!!!

Excellent show and master entertainer. Still trying figure some of the tricks out. Ticket price at $ 72 was reasonable and good seating in J section. My wife and friends thought the show was incredible.

Not bad but was expecting more illusions. Maybe I was spoiled when I used to watch
the David Copperfield shows on CBS when growing up. I thought it would be like those. Oh well. :P

It isn’t entertaining. He did a few good illusions but they need to overhaul his tired, sentimental, and cheesy act. The contents of this show are shallow.
There are so many other good ways to spend your time and money in Vegas.

We went here after seeing «O» the night before. David Copperfield was simply spellbinding! Don’t want to give anything away from someone else’s experience, so will leave the description out! Best advice, GO SEE HIS SHOW, you will not be sorry!

It breaks my heart that my mom spent as much money as she did for tickets to this show for my family. For the price, I was disappointed. If you get tickets for ~$ 45, then fine, but not more than that.
David Copperfield has been an icon in magic and inspiration to me since I was a kid. But after all this time, he just seems tired and over it and it comes through in his performance. He was just going through the motions and talking through the lines; it’s the same performance he gives twice every night. I’d get sick of it, too. There’s a substantial amount of audience participation, so if you want to be involved, you have a higher likelihood when sitting in the front section.
Oh, and just so you know what you’re getting into, 40% of his show involves animatronic aliens in the storyline. Seriously. It was. a strange selection at best.
POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD:
Illusions? Sure, there were a bunch. Magic? Hardly. What you’ll get: a bunch of «Look at this empty metal frame! It’s very empty! Now I’ll cover it and. boom! A ridiculously large object!» There were also some tricks involving technology, such as receiving an email on your cellphone, or using a flash drive that «had information on it.» If you’re remotely technologically savvy, you can see right through those tricks, and it becomes sad and gimmicky that he resorted to them. The demographic for these shows are young children and senior citizens, so I guess it goes right over their heads easily.
There are also one or two extremely, extremely basic illusions that you can find at your local magic shop for a few bucks. Plus a little bit of slight of hand.
Ultimately, was I astounded? No, not quite. Did I see any brand new tricks? No, I wouldn’t say so. But was I left puzzled as to how he pulled some of them off? Sure! There was a couple of pretty cool ones. I mean, I couldn’t exactly get up and look around, but from my vantage point, and as a relatively smart and aware young person, I was definitely left with a thought of, «Huh. How’d that get past me?»
2 stars because I expected so much more, could see through some of his more «technological» tricks, the de-​railing choice of incorporating aliens, and because David himself just felt and came off tired.
Wouldn’t recommend unless you got really cheap/​free tickets or simply enjoy burning money while killing time being moderately entertained.

Why is David’s show getting some bad reviews? Here’s why…
It’s too perfect. David is king — for a reason. He’s just the absolute best illusionist on the planet. These «bad reviewers» don’t know what they are talking about. One said about David’s prediction effect that it was «easily perceived to be staged.» Oh. My. Gosh. Really? It isn’t staged you moron. I KNOW how David does it because I’m a professional illusionist. IT’S COMPLETELY LEGIT. David isn’t using plants of that nature.
But you see, this is why some people are rating it low. Because what David does seems truly impossible. It’s SO good that there’s no conceivable way to do the illusion unless you figure everyone is somehow in on the tricks. But you need to go into the show with the understanding that he is NOT using plants to help him do the illusions. He really is that good…
I’ve seen him multiple times now… and I’m going again this weekend. He’s amazing and every bit as amazing as he was years ago. GO SEE THIS SHOW. But remember — it’s not staged… and you will have NO idea how he does it. :)

I have to say it was very disappointing to see this show. The show started 15 minutes late to begin with. I feel the show was more of comedy then any magic show that I was expecting. If you are a person who loves magic find another show.
A lot people where picked from the audience to be part of the show that was not planned. It felt more like TV show tapping. The only positive I felt was the staff at the MGM. It’s not the David Copperfiled I used remember. It was so bad that me and my guest walked out middle of the show.

David Copperfield is a great magician, don’t get me wrong. He has charm, talent, and showsmanship. But this show was just disappointing. Although he had some pretty wow performances, some were easily found out.
For the prediction/​mind reading/​supposedly random tricks, they were easily perceived to be staged. I saw another watcher of his show being talked to by staff, and even saw another watcher escorted backstage. Both watchers were «chosen» randomly. It was quite disappointing, and probably even more disappointing to the watchers once they realized the magic wasn’t real. If you are smart and aware of surroundings, you will see how some tricks are done. David excels at vanishing and conjuring objects though, which made his show a little more worthwhile.
All in all, I’d say this show was mediocre and quite cheesy. There’s a lot of talking and unnecessary rambling, but my main complaint was the transparent tricks. If I had the chance to go back in time, I’d probably watch Penn and Teller instead.

Mind blowing! Absolutely mind blowing! This was the first magic show I’ve seen, and I’m glad I started from the best magician ever!
I don’t want to give away any of the tricks he did in the show, but he was only one feet in front of me, then he made a guy fly and disappear right next to my face. I don’t know how he did that and I don’t want to know why, I prefer to believe in his magic.
There is a lot of talking in the show, and David entertained people with his comedic skills. Even though it was not a big show, certainly not big at all for a huge star like David Copperfield, but his performance was still over the top, that’s how he made me his fan from now on, and I can’t wait to see him again someday in the future!

David Copperfield is the best Magician in the world. He’s so hilarious and supper friendly. His Magic show at MGM is amazing. I will never regret to pay for the ticket and watch his show in real life.

AMAZEBALLS!!! I was forced to watch this show and was very reluctant. But WOW!!! It totally exceeded my expectations and so much more! David copperfield is hilarious which is totally unexpected and charming. His magic jaw dropping and leaves you scratching your head. Btw, I got to high five him and his hand was really soft :). Never washing my hand again!!! MUST SEE! Pay the extra money to sit near the stage, it’s well worth it.

I have seen this show twice in the last 2 years. There are some great things about it and some not so great things about it (annoying little alien puppet). Overall, though, it is a great example of Vegas Entertainment that is good for families.
One word of advice-​he seemed much more energetic in the matinée show than the evening show.

I loved the show. He works well with the audience and his staff to make for a tremendously entertaining show. We all don’t have a clue how he did it, but we don’t care because it was so entertaining!

I really enjoyed watching David Copperfield on TV when I was a kid — so I was super excited to see him in person despite all the mediocre reviews.
I can see where people are coming from. from what I remember from David Copperfield was his big spectacular tricks like walking through the Great Wall of China and making the Statue of Liberty disappear. Obviously, he can’t do any of those things in a Vegas theatre — but I was going in hoping for that same pazazz.
Mind you, if you do watch his show EXPECT a lot of audience participation and story telling! If you’re not into that, do not watch the show. The combination of both made it entertaining for me and it was a nice change form the usual Cirque Soleil shows I usually opt for in Vegas.
I was a little taken back by the way he looks now — he looks nothing like his promotional photos for the show. But otherwise, I enjoyed the show and it was nice to finally see David Copperfield perform live. The theatre is pretty small, so it makes for a nice intimate setup.

Goose magic seemed a bit like animal abuse and dialogue part about his childhood & his father is a bit boring, nevertheless I enjoyed my time greatly with his amazing magic show!

If you love magic and illusions, then you better pay a visit to MGM Grand to see David Copperfield. My bf was able to fulfill his childhood dream of finally seeing the show, and we got 2^nd row seats. Very nice! The theater is somewhat intimate, so no matter where you sit, you will be able to have a good view — however, it’s better to sit towards the back or middle because you’re more likely to be chosen as a participant in his illusions.
David Copperfield is very charismatic and you can tell that he loves what he does. The illusions were very entertaining, although I found the alien storyline to be a bit boring. But other than that, there were various jaw-​breaking and eye-​opening acts that just make you go WTF, how did that happen?! But one thing for sure, my bf and I really liked the opening act and the FINALE! Oh, the finale will just make you go OMG WOW.
The show overall was very entertaining. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves illusions/​magic. I love Herbert the Duck! Shake your tailfeather ;)

3.5 stars. The show was entertaining. David is really funny and quick on his feet (although by the end of the show, you realize half of the incidents and jokes may have been planted in order to queue you up for later tricks.).
We really liked half of the show, but some parts were ridiculously cheesy. Like the long skit involving the Disney-​like animatronic blue alien, for example. But the disappearing acts were great.
One part I really disliked is that he used his father’s death for entertainment. In the beginning of the show, he convinces the audience that «home videos» of his deceased father were real. When I found out they weren’t, I felt taken advantage of, and not in a fun magic trick kind of way.
We got discounted tickets ($ 83, normally at least $ 105) from the Tix4Tonight booth just north of MGM Grand. The theater has comfortable dinner theater-​type seating in the back. You can order light bar snacks and drinks in the front, then bring them back to your booth.

Le show a été pour moi un excellent moment, j’ai été bluffé du début jusqu’à la fin. Il y avait quelques moments un peu long, cela vient du fait que le show est plus que de la magie. David aime mettre en scèné un maximum son show, il y a une histoire qui découle d’elle même. Ça né le rend qu’encore meilleur.
Mais je comprends les critiques de certains, qui attendent plus de «tricks».
Ayant l’esprit assez cartésien j’ai eu du mal à comprendre une bonne partie de ces tours, et franchement j’adore ça!
Né pas hésiter à aller le voir, sauf si débourser une centaine de dollars peut vite rebuter!

So we planned this vegas trip for a while and i always wonder about David copperfields show i really liked it but my husband thinks he lost the passion for it .
We started our night with him, i was laughing, i was impressed and i almost cried i cant tell you too much cuz if any of you decide to go it will not be fun anymore.
