Desert Valley Pediatrics

I have seen a doctor at this practice for a few visits and decided not to come back, especially after dealing with some of the office staff. Then I met Dr. Blank. He was the on call doctor when my daughter was born and that’s how I found him. He has an excellent manner, listened to my concerns, actually offered good advice and doesn’t rush you out the door. It is a little bit of a wait but most doctors’ offices are. The staff seems much more pleasant and efficient compared to a couple of years ago.

We saw Dr. Blank at the N. Durango location. Dr. Blank is very thorough and sounds very caring. Even though there was nobody there when we arrived I think it took to long to see the doctor. We normally go to the Banburry Cross location but they did not have any openings. It sure is odd that one location is booked solid and the other empty? My 13 YO daughter is up to date on her vaccinations but at Banburry Cross it looks like they were pushing us to get the Meningitis vaccine at a well check up. Her prior pediatrician of 12 years once mentioned it but never brought up the subject again. I only mentioned this because of reading some posts about vaccinations.

You can count on a minimum hour wait and longer to be seen by a doctor, and that’s NOT including the 30 minutes you’ve waited up front after checking in.

My second visit to this clinic. Not very impressed. If you don’t want to follow the vaccine schedule and give your kid his vaccines spaced out this is not the place to go.
Second went for circumcision and Dr N was slowest moving Doctor I ever met. Do t strap my kid down then take 10 min to prep your area and get your stuff ready.
Took almost 35 min
Then on top of it out me in the back room with dirty instruments sitting in cleaning solution in the sink.
Also if you are planning on not vaccinating your child according to the pharmaceutical company save your time. They won’t see you without taking the 26 vaccines in your child’s first year of life. No choice S a parent.
They don’t care about well checks because they make more money vaccinating and it doesn’t pay to see you.
Rediculous To force you to give your child something if you don’t want it. They will give you all the reasons to give them and tell you all reasons people do not do it are BS. Even if you have another kid that had adverse reaction they will just say they can’t prove it. Even if you bring in literature.
Pretty unprofessional way to handle patients!

Dr Greenspon and staff are friendly and straight to the point. We had my two children seen at the same appointment time and it went so smoothly. The waiting area is a bit cramped and lacking toys for kids to keep busy with but it does its job. The artwork and paintings are cute and better to look at than plain walls. After the appointment my kids got to pick toys out of the treasure chest and they were pretty good toys! My daughter worked her charm and got 2 lol.

I’ve come here almost every time for my 2 month old son and the staff and everyone is nice and considerate, plus Dr. Ky is usually on time which is a nice plus for a busy place! I much rather drive to this location than the Centennial one, even if it’s a few extra miles! I like this one a lot more and started out at the other location.

Trying out Fremont Childrens Clinic for now. The wait time was too much! so far a good experience with the new place!

We have been coming here for years sense our son was born. We have a daughter we take here as well. Over the last year the service has become terrible. Our pediatrician is great but the official is slow. With an empty waiting room we waited for 30 minutes. Not one other person there. The once in the room we waited another 40 minutes before leaving. They called 20 minutes after that to find out if we left so we would have waited in the room for an hour to see the doctor when the office is completely empty. 30 minutes in the waiting room and the 2 ½ year old and 1 year old are becoming restless. Imagine an hour. Or an hour and half. Ridiculous. Why make appointments if your not going to see patients in a timely manner.

Avoid this office. It’s busy, u can never get an apt when u need one, and when u do u wait for hours. Dr misdiagnosed my 7 month old and almost led to pneumonia. Said its allergies or virus and will go away. Went twice in two weeks and it was only getting worse. Finally saw another pediatrician who said she needs antibiotics, a steroid and breathing treatments because her bronchials are inflamed!!! 2 days after starting meds she is almost 100% better! Will never go here again!!!

We like some of the Drs here. Almost every time we go it’s a 2 hour ordeal. Waiting an hour each time is too much. 10 years with them n we are leaving. They certainly know when they are running late. They certainly have our number. Call us n say come in 30 min later… clients would be much happier

This review is for Dr. Nyarko! He has seen my child since she was born and we love him! He’s very thorough with each exam. He answers every question you ask and he also speaks Spanish! We rarely have a long wait. Nice and clean office with a lot of kid friendly décor. This place is awesome!

MY SON HAS BEEN A PATIENT FOR 16 YEARS! I’m sorry to say that the service provided by the staff has declined over the years to the point where I felt it’s apparent they DON’T CARE. We have gone to Desert Valley since my son was born and he’s now 16. I was treated like a transient, second class citizen yesterday.
We were 10 minutes early to my 2:40 appt., arriving at 2:30pm at Summerlin. Unfortunately, I found out at check-​in that Dr. Downey was at the Centennial office. I have never, in 16 years had been anywhere except the Summerlin office. (side note — I must say the new office is way too small and cramped). The staff member told me I was at the wrong office. I don’t believe I was ever told about the Centennial office, but lets just say that was my fault. I told her that it was a bummer but I would leave immediately to drive across town. I would be 10 minutes late. I asked her to call the other office out of courtesy to inform them I would be a little late. She said there is a 20 minute grace period. I said, «that’s fine and I will make it but just to be courteous, can you please just give them an heads up». She asked that I wait a moment. She called and said that they were going to check with Dr. Downey to see if he prefer I reschedule. I told her I don’t want to reschedule. I had to wait 5 weeks for this appointment and if I leave now I can make it without an issue. She asked again to wait until they call back. 9 minutes have passed before she called me up and said that Dr. Downey would prefer I reschedule. I was blunt and told her that she had wasted 9 minutes of my time in which I could have almost been to the other office and if I leave now I can still make it before the end of the grace period. She said he preferred I reschedule and I said «I’m wasting time talking to you». We left and unfortunately my GPS took me to the wrong block. Bottom line, my phone said 3:02pm when I signed in — yes, I was 2 minutes past the grace period. The staff member called me up and said that unfortunately, they clocked me in at 3:05 which is 5 minutes past the grace period and I will have to reschedule. I told her «You’ve got to be kidding me? You are going to nit-​pick over a few minutes, in which her time was wrong anyway» When she told me his earliest available appointment was 4 ½ weeks away, I was almost in tears. I told her that I had to take time off work, went to the other place and was EARLY and now they are going to do this to me? My son had to mentally prepare for this appointment since it would require blood tests that he was totally freaked out about.
How many times do we patients have to wait hour (s) for the Dr.‘s? They can’t give a few minutes? I want to truly believe that if Dr. Downey knew what was going on he would be disappointed. The staff member (and yes, I’m saying her name because she was rude and despicable), Vilane (sp?), was so rude. She couldn’t have cared less of my situation of having to take time off work and the fact that my son can’t wait another 4 – 5 weeks to see a Dr. She gave me blank looks and looks I considered to be practically dirty. She didn’t offer to go back and ask Dr. Downey. there was only 1 patient in the waiting room but not sure what Dr. it was for. Bottom line, they weren’t that busy or behind. She didn’t say she was sorry or suggest any sympathy to having been early for the appt at the other location and drove across town to only be 2 minutes late? Of course, she said «well, we clocked you in at 5 minutes late». When I disagreed with the time, she asked me for the time on my phone to compare to the time on her computer and she lied about the time she had, which I won’t get into.
My son can’t wait another month+ to see the Dr. so I will have to take him to a Dr. in which he has never met.
The office used to be very popular and very busy but well worth the wait. To deal with their terrible staff and service isn’t worth it any longer. I’m sure losing 1 patient isn’t going to matter to them. It should. Especially since it’s a long term patient. I’m saddened that my son will never see Dr. Downey again but I feel my sons health is more important than waiting another month even though they apparently don’t care.
I highly suggest they replace staff members with folks that actually want to be there and appreciate they have a job. I surely don’t want to deal with someone that has a crappy attitude and takes out their issues on the patient.

My wife made an appointment for my son to receive a flu shot and they code it as a wellness check and therefore charged us an additional $ 75 for the visit. When I contacted the company regarding their incorrect coding of the visit, I was told that we were away o the visit and therefore te bill stands. I was told that they do not offer appointments for shots so that how we knew its a «wellness visit.»

Dr. Blank is simply the best pediatrician we’ve ever used (we have 5 kids and have lived in several states).
He is the kindest man, extremely knowledgeable about medicine, and our kids adore him!
There’s no other doctor in Las Vegas I’d rather use!

The summerlin location is a joke. We normally see dr ky in centinnel hills, but wee not able to get a same day appt. there today so they sent us here. We waited just under an hour to be seen and the waiting room was packed. I feel like if my daughter wasn’t sick coming in she would be sick by the time we left. Next time I will take her to quick care.

I am dropping this star level for 2 very important reasons:
1. They have moved into a smaller, more cramped office area.
What this equates to is an office well over capacity, and I’m sure they were already over capacity at the last, roomy location.
What I mean by over capacity is, they’d probably fail a fire code inspection. All seats taken, people standing, people sitting on the floor, and people I the hallway outside waiting!
I made an appointment, so I only had to wait 30 min over my appointment time (which still sucks for arriving 15 min early), but I did get my daughter in before most of the people that had been waiting there. I’m assuming they had no appointment, because of all the bitching I heard about how long they’ve been there.
2. I’ve seen most of the doctors here, since 2001: over the years, they act less and less like they care. It’s almost like a race to get as many people in and out as possible, which is a shame; it’s demonstrates how they are just trying to get more money in.
I feel most for the office staff– it’s super hard to be courteous when you’ve got a bunch of ignorant loud mouth mothers telling you the waiting room is too small. They know that, they didn’t choose this office! STFU! I tried being the most pleasant to them, having my cards and payment ready so it could be as quick and seamless as possible, and I was battling my own sinus infection that week.
Having said all that, I think it’s time I take my daughter to my own doctor from now on.

Dr. Blank is AMAZING… However his nurse ANNA is so disrespectful, rude, and has the worst attitude I’ve ever seen on a nurse, she made my experience hell today, she is a young immature girl who shouldn’t be working around babies. I asked her if she liked giving baby shots and her response was «I love it» what a cold answer to give, since you make babies cry.

I give DP a five star rating on care and one star on service because I cannot give no stars. My Dr is Dr Berford and she gives excellent care. .when I eventually get back to see her. EVERY single time I go to DP, I am informed at check-​in that the Dr is running an hour to hour and a half behind. I schedule my appointment in good faith. After working a 10 hour day blowing 2 hours of my time in the waiting room is not something I enjoy or construe as good customer service. Unacceptable. I would find another Dr in heartbeat if my wife would allow it.

The wait kills the rating when it comes to the stars. If I didn’t wait so long each time I came then I would give it four stars.
I give Dr. Blank, my son’s pediatrician, 5 stars however. Dr. Blank is very knowledgeable and caring. He takes his time with my son, is gently with my son, and answers all my questions. He never makes me feel like an idiot when I ask those «first time mom» questions. I have never had to reach him outside of business hours so I don’t know if he is reachable that way. I am glad I don’t know!
If Dr. Blank were not such a Great and Outstanding doctor, I would definitely change locations. When you ask the girls at the desks if he is running behind, you often get a no and then 15 mins later you get «ALL DR so and so patients, your doctor is running an hour behind.» My thinking is that you knew this when I asked. I used to arrive to my appointments 20 – 30 minutes ahead of schedule but not anymore. I show up right on time.
Also these girls lack that «customer service» pizazz. Not so helpful. Always busy talking to each other. I feel like I am inconvenience to their job and in reality it should not be that way.

Our pediatrician is Dr. Blank, and for him alone, I give 5 shiny stars. He is very professional, knowledgable, and gentle & friendly to my 2 kids. I always come in with a long list of questions and he is very willing to answer every one of them with a smile.
The nurses and office staff are an average of 3. Some are really friendly and others look/​act like they wish they were elsewhere. Since they are working with kids, I just expect them to be more approachable and warmhearted.
Like all doctor offices, you spend a lot of time waiting in the waiting room regardless of your appointment time. But, at least this office has a partition between the healthy and sick waiting rooms with separate entrances. I also like the fact that there aren’t toys in this room because who knows how often those are sanitized. So I recommend bringing your own if you need to keep your child occupied. But, there is a TV in the waiting room programmed on a kid friendly channel, and who can resist an episode of Dora the Explorer.
The Summerlin clinic shares the parking lot with the Summerlin Hospital and other clinics, and the lot is often full. However, there is complimentary valet parking that I always take advantage of.
Telephone appointments are easy to make, and they always call with a friendly reminder days before. I was very sad to leave our amazing Pediatrician in West LA but am very glad to have found Dr. Blank.
