Downtown Container Park

Container park is a short (and safe, lit) walk off the Fremont experience. It is an enclosed shopping-​dining-​drinking play area made of… Metal shipping containers.
When we walked up, it was just after 9pm and our IDs were checked because after 9pm it’s 21+. Our first impression included us geeking out at how cool it was that everything was made out of metal shipping containers. It was art! We were also kind of tipsy, so of course we went straight to the playground to hobble up it and ride the tube slides. That was super fun. They felt fast. They might not have actually been that fast.
There was also a game where you have to run around and touch lights when they light up and try to beat your friends scores. That was even funnier after a couple more drinks.
Grown up building blocks and gigantic Legos, lounges to chill, and lots of shopping and dining pleased us. Be aware that you cannot bring outside drinks in, so try to finish what your beverages on Fremont before you head that way.
Container park and it’s fire blowing preying mantis certainly was one of the highlights of our trip. At one point batman walked by and the praying mantis whispered «I am batman» and blew it’s fire in the air. Batman shook his head and flipped his cape. Whatever, mantis. Blow your fire at someone else.
You won’t regret visiting here, especially if you’re a bit inebriated.

I finally made it down here for a meeting. It is an interesting concept. live stage for music, play area for the kids… some diverse shops and places to eat. however, it is still in downtown vegas and it is very small. Im not a big fan of getting stabbed while walking in the area, so if you go its like valet, container park, valet lol. They do have a groovy fire shooting psychedelic praying mantis at the entrance that’s pretty cool… they also had a Mexican place there that didn’t have a name on it .i thought that was odd… after you have been here for 10 minutes its either get some drinks or dinner or get going. its probably much livelier when they have concerts…

Excellent ideas, sustainability plans in place and clearly well executed. Definitely a Berkeley dream come true and trust me, when it comes to hippies, few people smell the hippie better than those of us out here in the Bay.
This is kinda like a strip club. Stay with me now. If the best «dancer» in the history of stripper poles was «dancing» at a club, but nobody went to that club cause it was not worth going to, would anyone know she’s the best «dancer?» Of course not!
We were excited the night before when we saw the flames coming from the… grass hopper? Praying mantis? Whatever it was, it was cool. We just got done grubbing at eat across the road and wanted to check out what kind of stores were here to take our money. But here is the kicker. Crazy Legs leggings store is the best you could do? I mean, maybe cause I was in the house in January and the Flip Flop store wasn’t on the radar cause it was 52 degrees midday. I just don’t see how the businesses chosen were chosen to attract real money. Sure, I love some leggings and I was ready to stroll inside Crazy Legs and pickup somethin’ sexy for my wife. Problem being, they were closed in the middle of the day. I know, I know. You can’t please everyone all the time. If I had kids, I’d take them here to play around on the «tree» house and stuff, but I wrapped up in my twenties and don’t have any kids.
Overall, I can’t say with great certainty that they missed the mark, but if you asked my opinion, I’d say with great confidence that they missed the mark.

Cool little gem in the craziness of Vegas. It’s a mixture of stores and restaurants and a playground. After 9pm everyday, it’s adults only (21+) I can just imagine the shenanigans that happen here after 9. There is one restaurant upstairs that is open on Sunday’s for brunch.
I think this place is cute and definitely unique. It certainly has a little something for everyone. Worth a stop!

This place is exactly what I have wanted to see in Las Vegas!!! It has some interesting eclectic shops and a nice big screen outdoors, perhaps they will show movies? I came here to visit Chillspot but found the popcorn place, Big Ern’s and San Miguel art collection stores. I love this place and plan to keep coming back. I don’t smoke and I have asthma so I appreciate that smoking here is not allowed.
They have bathrooms which are heated and stocked with plenty of toilet paper. I wish to come back, in the spring perhaps, when it’s not so cold outside.

The only Vegas attraction I was completely and utterly disappointed by. For one thing, you can’t smoke anywhere on the property (in Vegas?). Most wouldn’t be bothered by that, but when you’re with a group of adults it’s annoying to have people break off to smoke and come back. But maybe it would be worth it if the shops had interesting things? Not really. If you live in a city of any size, there’s nothing you can buy at DCP that you couldn’t find in your hometown. Or order off Etsy. Prices were outrageous, shop staff were unfriendly (most didn’t even say hello when you walked in). What’s more, not only were most stores NOT air conditioned, most didn’t even have fans or anything else to abate the oppressive Vegas heat (remember, these are steel shipping containers!). So one had almost NO incentive to stay and browse.
Before my visit I checked out many of the vendor’s websites and found one that claimed to offer «fresh limeaid» (complete with a photo of a condensation-​covered glass pitcher full of lime slices). I went to the shop and was told they didn’t have anything like that, and never had. To his credit, the helpful employee offered to make a «limeaid» out of sno-​cone syrup, but that’s not the same thing at all. I eventually found a drink, but was puzzled as to which of the 8 trash\recycling receptacles I was supposed to put the now-​empty cup in (and I wan’t the only one). Since my hands were sticky (every surface at DCP seemed sticky, for some reason), I had to use the horrific restrooms to wash my hands.
The bottom line is this: your home city has a «funky» neighborhood, right? Like Plaza Midwood here in Charlotte, or Little Five Points in Atlanta? Take half those shops, fill them with a quarter of the merchandise, jack up the prices by 75% and put the whole thing in uncomfortable steel boxes in a bad part of town and you have the DCP. This place is living proof that you can’t «make» cool or interesting… it just has to happen. DCP is kind of a cheesy, hipster Epicenter (Charlotte) or Underground Atlanta, and it’s not even a good one at that. There was nothing there to hold the attention of four college-​educated adults, which is why we planned to stay at DCP for 2 hours, but only ended up spending 30 minutes there.

Love everything about this quirky place! From the flaming praying mantis to the quirky shops built from shipping containers. But my absolute favorite thing is the playground. At 9pm the kids have to leave and the (mostly intoxicated) adults take over the playground. It’s a guaranteed fun night with guaranteed sore muscles the next few days. They have a stage in the grassy area for events and bands. Super cool fun place to hang out.

What a refreshing establishment to add to downtown Vegas. It reminds me of the cute outdoor malls in Southern California (think The Camp for example). But with a twist since it’s made out of containers, and this park has things to playyyyy with!
Legos, slides, foam blocks, Neos, fire-​spitting mantis?! The kid in me just wet my adult pants.
That mega slide is best done at night. It’ll take you on whips and turns and leave you with a whiplash you’d never expect. Legos and foam blocks? Stack them up. then plow thru them with your fierce moves, since we all know you’re the next MMA fighter. Just make sure the kids don’t cry or you’ll be dealing with their parents.
Not to mention the array of food and booze! All these bars available one after another. We had some local taps and the lobster grilled cheese at bin 702 and let’s just say. all I heard was ~ahhh~ voices of angels singing.
In front is a heart structure full of locks, which kinda is a rip off of Paris’s Locks of Love Bridge, but ehh. what else in Vegas isn’t a rip off of some iconic spot huh?
DT Container Park is great for modern-​day kid (ie. grown-​up kid). Games, food, booze. But putting all these bars in such close proximity to a playground? Now that’s the most dangerous game of them all.

Awesome Park
My wife has been trying to talk me into selling our house and moving into a shipping container. Crazy right! I thought so myself. She has shown me videos of shipping containers that had been turned into homes, really nice ones too. I was still not buying it (literally)
After visiting Container Park, I’m considering it now. Why? Because I’m so impressed with how they transformed shipping containers into amazing shops, restaurants and a playground with a huge treehouse in the center of this park. Wow.
The Treehouse is made from shipping containers (and recycled material) as well. What an awesome treehouse. My son went up and down it for almost 2 hours. It’s super creative and goes up 3 or 4 floors. They had a slide on the top floor. A kid’s dream treehouse for sure.
The playground had some big foam pieces of varying shapes and size that the kids can use to build bridges, house or a pretend spaceship that my son built.
The playground also had an electronic touch game. Eight post with two lights each (top and bottom). The lights would flash either red or green and you’re suppose to touch it as it randomly flashes either color. You get points for touching the lights and it kept score. Great for game for the kids to play individually or as a team.
The best part of the playground was security. It is fenced in with only one way in or out and it was monitored by a staff member of the park. A+ in my book.
Shops and restaurants flank the playground/​treehouse. Three levels on each side with an eclectic variety. BBQ joint, hot dog stand, tacos, clothing stores, unique toy store, even an art gallery and a lot more. Grownups won’t get bored here either.
Entrance: if you see a giant praying mantis, you found the park. Lol.
Parking was easy. They have a lot across the street. It’s a pay to park place. Very reasonably priced.
The park itself is free. No entrance fee, another A+ in my book.
It was cold in late December and the heaters they had all over the park helped.
What an amazing way to re-​purpose shipping containers. Would I move into one? Maybe. It’s definitely not a definite NO anymore. LOL.
Go see it for yourself, it’s definitely worth a visit (specially if you have kids).

Five words: Giant, fire-​breathing preying mantis.
I visited on a quiet afternoon on an unbearably hot summer Sunday. I had a coffee, checked out some shops, and sat at a table and watched some kids/​parents run around in the treehouse. Aside from the heat, I didn’t feel like I was in Vegas (that’s a good thing). This is a unique, fresh and fun addition to the downtown area.

Regardless that this place has 2 – 3 floors, this place is smaller than I expected in downtown Vegas.
This place is the definition of self made business owners, as everything is almost literally made by local business owners. With that being said, not many of the people working even bothered to say hi to me when I walked in. So much for service on their part.
Anyways, there are trinkets here and there that you can buy but nothing caught my eye. There are some sit down food places that looked interesting. There’s a decently sized park in the middle of the container park for kids to run rampant in.
Other than that, walked a couple laps in less than 30 minutes. Don’t forget to pay the parking toll. I saw a car get towed for trying to be sneaky and avoid the hourly rate.

The best local shopping area in Vegas with a giant metal fire-​breathing Praying Mantis.
Yeah, as you walk-​in a giant metal Praying Mantis greets you with a warm and cozy fireball blast, because why not. If that first sentence wasn’t enough to tell, but place literally has everything. Coffee, clothing, ice cream, cat candles, novelty socks, hot dogs, tanning, toys from all over the world, whiskey, wine, craft beer, a jungle gym, BBQ, and high end beef jerky! Phew, that was mouthful!
A great place to take your out-​of-​town friends who are looking to do something other than the normal overpriced strip experience, plus the surrounding Downtown area has a ton of other entertainment, drinking and eating options.
I highly suggest going to Oak and Ivy, Kappa Toys, Cheffinis Hot Dogs, JinJu Chocolates and Perch for a great view of the park and solid cocktail.

This is definitely an area that supports small business owners, which I can appreciate. I like the idea of re-​purposing shipping containers, but most of the establishments I went into and definitely enjoyed had me wishing they were bigger.
Anyway, there were a good variety of shops, restaurants and bars. Always admired the play area there ’cause they keep it nice and clean for families. That’s especially helpful when everyone stops by after marathon events and such. Also like the stage area on the south side of Container Park ’cause they also host family-​friendly events there.
Favorite art pieces are definitely the Praying Mantis and the Heart Locks at the entrance.
Favorite establishments are JinJu Chocolates, Black Cup (attached to Cheffinis Hot Dogs), The Perch, Oak & Ivy, Big Ern’s BBQ, BluMarble, Winky Designs, and Kapp Toys.

Have heard much about the DCP but until today have not have a chance to visit. When we saw an event that supported small businesses within the park, we made it a point to visit. The GF and I rolled in via Über and were dropped off at the praying mantis. We stopped by the Unilocal desk and I was tickled pink to finally meet Norm K. & Nate M. After exchanging pleasantries the GF and I were off to explore.
It is absolutely what one can do now a days with a freaking storage container. I had marveled at the miscellaneous websites I have visited looking at cabin designs using with prefab material. DCP is no exception. I likened it to a circular, multi-​layered fort in the middle of downtown Vegas. The centerpiece of DCP is a play land for kids that made me want to be eight again. If it would not have been creepy or I would have ran the risk of getting stuck in some contraption, I would have bounced all over this steel, kiddy wonderland.
There was lot’s to do and see. We saw everything from hotdogs, booze, chocolate, glass, booze, booze, jerky, and an art gallery. I hope to write reviews on many of shops we stopped in and spent money.
What makes this novel location a four star instead of a five is the tight quarters and a closed rest room. Depending on where and when you visit, the potential for someone to touch you and breath on you is great. For the most part everyone was cool, but you do have your selfish idiots out there.
As for the rest room, I stood outside one for almost 10 minutes. I did not know the layout inside and assumed it could have been meant for a single individual. Two employees would eventually exit and tell me the restroom was closed. I told them it would have been helpful if there was a sign. One of them told the other there should have have been a sign outside. Whatever.
All in all, the environment and atmosphere is hip. The businesses are for the most part… friendly. I did not see you vagrant or doper. Thank you to the ranger’s who are manning the entrances.
We look forward to checking out the DCP again!

This place is AWESOME!!! I didn’t know this was here and am so happy we found it. We only found it because of the praying mantis shooting flames! That was cool! ! Scared the crap out of me a few times.
The park is so cool because it had a lot of play stead for kids. From a park to a lego building area. And the parents can sit back, have a drink and watch the kids. What is better than that? ???
Lots of cool stores, bars, and food in the container too.
A must see for anyone visiting old town Vegas

Who would of known in this not so great part of Downtown Las Vegas lies a park made of storage containers? This place is fun for kids and adults. The perimeter of this place is surrounded by stacks of storage containers housing stores of unique shops, a mix of snack shops and artisan/​hipster eateries. Southern part of the park lies a grassy areas and stage with live entertainment during the weekends. Winding slides, bridges, and climbing areas can be found in the center part of this park. The eclectic artwork adds quite a bit of charter to this place that would make it look very industrial without it. I didn’t eat here but there’s a cook toy shop with unique stuff you can’t find at Toy’s R Us if you’re looking for something out of a norm for kids.
Definitely a cool and new place to check out if you’re in town and tired of looking for stuff to do with the kids. This place is located a few blocks from Fremont Street Experience on 7^th/​Fremont Street.

As a tourist, I must say that I don’t really see the appeal of this place. Yes, it’s a fun idea to have a shopping center built out of shipping containers stacked upon each other. It looks great and interesting, but that’s it. I’ve been there with some friends in the early evening, the sun was shining and it was hard to find the place in the shadow to enjoy a drink. We browsed the shops, had a really sugary lemonade in The Black Cup Coffee and after 30 minutes we were done.
It’s probably better for locals, especially families. The place is known to organize a lot of free concerts, movies and other entertainment. And the Treehouse looks like a great spot for the little ones.

This place is very interesting. It’s a newly developed area created by the Zappos owner. He is definitely turning the values around downtown upward by making great spots such as this place.
The giant attraction that has flames is pretty cool and very hot.
The heart with lock is a great spot to take a picture.
The live music from the main stage was very entertaining.
The treehouse was a great way to enjoy the view of the park.
You must visit this place when in the area.
The only gripe I have is the parking. Most of it you have to pay for as none of the eateries or stores validate.

A little different than what I was expecting. When you stand outside you notice a huge praying mantis made of various metals, it’s pretty cool. When you go inside container park you see a 2 story rectangle of shops and boutiques. The downfall is most everything in here is pretty pricey. If you have kids they have a really nice play area with misters. My friend and I didn’t stay here very long.
*There is an ice cream/​bubble tea/​dessert place on the first floor that has $ 3 snow cones with a million flavor choices that you get to add yourself!

Downtown Container Park has been instrumental in revitalizing East Fremont. Case in point: Before Container Park, there is no way I would’ve walked that far East to get to Atomic Liquors for fear of being shanked, but now I feel safe enough to do so! Container Park has become the focus for so many 5k fun runs held downtown and is doing much to become a focal point for the community as well. Small beer fests, live music events, movie nights, and holiday celebrations are regularly held at Container Park.
I fell head over heels with Downtown Container Park the moment I laid eyes on it. A fire-​breathing praying mantis greets visitors at the entrance. ‘Downtown Rangers’ stand at the ready to make sure the riff raff is kept out. Container Park is literally built out of colorful shipping containers. Trees line the park and cute stringed lights are strung about. A decent sized playground is in the center of the park. There’s plenty of seating available near restaurants and around the playground.
What I love about Container Park is that it features 100% local businesses. Each business is unique. Mention worthy restaurants include vegan eatery Simply Pure, Cheffini’s for fancy hotdogs, JinJu Chocolates, and Oak & Ivy for crafty cocktails.
Container Park is best enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Try to go at a time that coincides with an event. Grab a bite to eat, find a place to sit, and just relax and people watch!
