Grand Canyon Skywalk

DO NOT GO! If I could leave negative stars I would! I took my fiancé and our kids out here from Vegas not knowing that they were gonna to us when we got here. For four people just to see the Grand Canyon, it is a minimum of $ 200. You cannot drive up or walk. You have to take a bus. Absolutely ridiculous and completely wrong. I thought Native American tribes were supposed to respect the land. Not rape it. I’m am so beyond pissed and disappointed in people. This should be free or a reasonable fee per car load for maintenance. Not to become rich off people. DO NOT GO! DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BULLSHIT!

Tourist trap. NO PHOTOS ALLOWED. Go elsewhere. $ 43 for the «bus» and some legacy of the locals + 21 for the skywalk. We were gonna go for it but when we saw the no photos allowed that made up our mind and we headed for the door.

It is a bit overpriced, yes. And you have to basically pay for everything a la carte. The lunch included on the tour is ok. We were distracted by the number of flies (which in all fairness is not because the restaurants are dirty but just because that is part of dealing with that location).
My issue is that you can get off of the bus and if your small kids run in front of you and keep running — oops. A few thousand feet drop right there. No guard rails. NONE. I was having a panic attack. Lots of people were trying to take photos and selfies and I just held on tight to my children. It made me very very very anxious. If you cannot run after your children or if they are bound to run away (and let’s face it — we all deal with this) — I wouldn’t take them. Of course, not many people have fallen and died over in this area so clearly people are looking out — but for me personally — I know my kids like to test me sometimes and when I say stop they think it is funny to keep running. This is not one of those places to take your kids to if they do this.

I will never forget this experience. i dont know why so many people complain about going to a tourist site. This place was fun, interesting, and I thought well planned.
I was a little fearful to be able to walk out to the edge in so many places.
The glass bottom walkway was pretty cool!
We paid the $ 80 and ate lunch but we also paid $ 150 at Disneyland…

5 for the MAGIC SHOW at the Hualipia Ranch. Magic Mark’s show was the best one I saw on my Vegas trip and he wasn’t even on the brochure. Crazy secret they’ve got out here.

Serious tourist trap rip off. Don’t do it. Don’t bother. Too many people on the sky walk to enjoy it. It cost $ 80 a person. It’s not
Something you can drive up to, you HAVE to take a tour bus that you pay for to take you to two other places you DO NOT want to see. A Native American mall with expensive junk and another canyon point you can’t see the canyon from.
Total crap. If there’s a 5 star rating on here they either work here and want you to come or were paid to put it up because the TOUR IS TOTAL CRAP!

Did you do well in the casinos on the strip? Money burning a hole in your pocket that you might feel like throwing down the toilet or just getting rid of without getting anything worthwhile in return? Well then this is the place for you!
$ 35 US per person to get on the skywalk PLUS another $ 16 US for ONE PICTURE. Now doesn’t that seem like a steal?! You can’t bring a camera or a phone onto the thing because they fear you’ll «break the glass» HAHAH! We all know it’s just a huge money grab since they know you’ll actually have to pay extra to keep your skywalk money splurge as a physical memory and not just a mental picture.
The Indian tribe that inhabit the West rim of the Grand Canyon that the Skywalk is built on didn’t even want the thing there in the first place and honestly it’s a HUGE eyesore that takes away from the appeal of the specific area. The views you’ll get at the lookout point are just as good as if you go on the skywalk itself and really you’re just paying an extra $ 35 to lay face down on the glass to look down… because there is NOTHING else about the skywalk that make the experience any different.
Unless you’re some type of ego-​maniac and want to brag to everyone you meet and come across that you went on this thing OR have absolutely no care for your hard earned money then go ahead and take the walk BUT I’d personally say skip it, as all but 2 people on our tour to the West rim said they felt like they wasted money doing the skywalk (15 did it).

All the bad reviews… They are true.
Would leave a «0» star if I could. Overpriced for what it is. You can’t just drive there and walk to the skywalk. $ 80 per person later for a shuttle to what you should be able to see for free.
And don’t bring your dogs. They won’t let you keep them anywhere but their «kennel»
Spend the extra time to drive to Grand Canyon national park and see it at your own leisure.

This is the biggest rip off ever. 3 adults = 321.00. The dirt road pitted the front bumper and hood on my truck. People that work there are real rude and could care less about you. It’s a bait and switch job all the way. No cameras or cell phones allowed. You get onto sky walk and guys with cameras follow you around so they can rip you off for a picture when you walk through gift shop. When your on walk there are people telling you to speed it up. You can’t really even see through glass and if it’s cloudy forget it. It’s so much better to just stand on the rim and look at canyon. Don’t pay attention to 4 – 5 star feedbacks because there is no way those are honest feedbacks.

It is sad that this greedy tribe has a lockdown on a piece of nature that is so beautiful.

RIP-​OFF. Please, don’t even think about driving out there to «see» the Grand Canyon at the Skywalk. Unless you have deep pockets, find the time to drive to the National Park and experience the canyon from there.
I was so upset when we got there and realized it was a big $$ making scam, the 6 of us drove back to Vegas in a cloud of dust. That was 6 years ago and it still makes me upset.

We drove from Vegas to see the west rim skywalk. What the travel channel failed to tell us is you cant just drive out to it then pay to walk out on it. Noooooo… you are greeted by security officers, they tell you where to park, you go inside this «tent like» building to pay for a tour bus to take you out to it plus pay extra to walk it.
You have 4 choices:
1.) Go by helicopter (tons of them flying in and out in that spot as its a refueling station) $ 169pp
2.) Pay the tour $ 80pp
3.) Leave $ 0.00pp
4.) Doing doughnuts in the snow, scenic views and a picnic PRICELESS
We had to leave because we brought our furbabies huskys with us and yes they had a kennel there but we were NOT going to put them in there not knowing if the other dogs had kennel cough as they did not ask for paperwork or vet shots. (My babies are covered) not going to take a risk on my huskies.
Overall, not happy. But we made the most out of it on the way back with the snow on the ground, doing doughnuts with our truck, fun! and taking pictures and a picnic. (See picture)

I knew this place was a rip off from everything I’ve heard and read in the papers, and so never went to it. I’ve been to the Grand Canyon National park countless times, whether to back pack the North or South Rims, go to the corridor area or more remote areas away from the crowds, or just to take family and relatives there for the views and adventure.
So, now that many of you learned your lesson (based on the reviews), go to the National Park and experience one of the most beautiful areas on earth without being ripped off.
Note; if you hike into it, be aware that hiking to the river and back, as a day trip or a backpack, is an advanced trip and requires lots of water, proper equipment and being in excellent physical shape. The maintained trails in the Corridor are in good shape (if crowded) to walk on without cliff exposure (except for one mile on the North Rim trail). However, if you go to one of the remote routes outside of the corridor, these, however superior an experience they offer, are for very advanced hikers only and have cliff exposure without any rails or rangers around. Overnight trips require reservations at the National Park office.

Rip off?!! We paid 75 $ for the bus tour and sky walk. Plus another 5 $ for the food. Total of 80 $
You cant take photos at sky walk. Bummer. But there were atleast 5 photographers around to take your picture and buy it for 15 $ up to 60 $. but the idea of sky walk is unique though. Feels like im free falling lol
The bus picks you up every 5 minutes so thats good.
There are alot of stores and price is right.
The food is ugh not good. The guy serving the food wears a torn gloves and same guy who takes the tickets. I just imagined how much germs he served us.
The place is very nice. I like nature but its over priced.

Definitely don’t let the bad reviews put you off going to the Grand Canyon West Rim. Just beside the Skywalk you get the most magnificent views.
Breathtaking. After reading some rather average reviews I nearly didn’t go. Stopped at Hoover Dam on the way and stayed at the Grand Canyon til sunset. We saved our dollars and paid only the minimum fee for the access and bus trip to the three locations (no Skywalk). Don’t feel like we missed out at all and happy to have only forked out $ 43 to access this amazing wonder. Don’t get sucked in to spend more. Absolutely recommend.

Absolut nicht zu empfehlen. Der Stamm der das Ganze betreibt langt hier ordentlich hin. 75 $ um den Skywalk zu betreten. 45 $ um den «eagle Point» zu betreten. Mehr bekommt man für sein Geld nicht geboten. Der Canyon an sich und der Blick sind natürlich genial. Aber die dort stattfindende Abzocke ist grauenhaft. Wir hatten zusätzlich noch ein Abendessen dazu gebucht. Bei dem kleinsten Einbruch der Dämmerung werden alle «Restaurants» jedoch geschlossen und man kann seinen Gutschein wieder mit nach Hause nehmen. Letztendlich kann man zwar behaupten dort gewesen zu sein — mehr aber nicht. Absolut nicht zu empfehlen!

WOW was this experience a rip off. Seriously, I felt completely scammed by these people who run this destination. I will highly not recommend it to anyone. Here’s the scoop:
With the newly opened roads that connect the Grand Canyon Hualapai reservation I wanted to plan a motorcycle ride for my motorcycle riding club and figured that taking a test-​ride out there with a few people would be a good idea. Making the drive was rather easy and as we got into the area to where we would buy our tickets to the viewing areas we had to ride on a poorly maintained dirt road and parking lot while helicopters took off and landed all around us. While you can see the Grand Canyon in the distance there wasn’t really any ways to view it from this mega tourist trap. After parking, we walked inside a large tent building which was about as tourist trappy as you can imagine. All the typical junk of dream catchers, cheap Native American jewelry, DVDs of the Grand Canyon, low quality/​over priced T-​shirts, you get the idea.
There were 7 of us total in our group and we really just wanted to get a good view of the canyon. Unfortunately, we were told that to do this, we had to take a bus out to a different area. The buses did leave at a rather frequent rate… about every 15 minutes. We were offered several different packages of tours and such but we just wanted to see the Grand Canyon and leave within an hour or so. To do so we would have to stop first at another tourist trap ranch that really nobody in our group wanted to stop at. They sold horse rides and things like that. Pretty lame. They have a captive audience and so they force the bus to stop there. After that you then are taken to where the skywalk is and you can get a better view of the Grand Canyon, have lunch, and then go to the third stop, which was a smaller viewing area.
At this giant gift shop and ticket booth there was no place to eat but you could buy bottled water and soda. We were hungry so we opted for the cheapest ticket to get a view and that was a whopping $ 43 PER PERSON! Unreal. We decided that since we were there that we would opt for this so we can get some photos. This is where the scam starts. They then tell you that for an additional $ 35 you can go walk out on to the skywalk platform. I’m sure the view is cool, but it’s so not worth 35 bucks. Mostly because you aren’t even allowed to take photos out there. WTF? Their logic is that if you drop your camera on the ground it might damage the glass floor. Really? REALLY? So this floor is strong enough to support people safely while dangling over the edge of the Grand Canyon but it’s not safe enough to have a 5 pound piece of plastic dropped on it? Yeah, I’m saying BS to that. They probably just don’t want people to take pictures of the view and sell the photos which means less $$$ for them. In addition to this option, they tried upselling us on a meal at the top. We were all hungry so we decided that the $ 16 charge for lunch (included a drink) was pricey but OK. WOW were we ever wrong.
So after the 30 minute bus ride to eventually get us to the viewing area we got off the bus and saw the amazing view of the Grand Canyon. It was stunning, and well worth the ride. You literally can just walk right up to the edge of the canon and get un-​obstructed photos. It was just awesome. So after taking our pictures for about 30 minutes, we went to go get some lunch. When we bought our lunch voucher we asked about the menu and we were specifically told, «With this you can order anything you want off the menu.» What a lie that was! The outdoor-​seating only «restaurant» is really a dirty trailer. This place wouldn’t stand a chance against the food trucks in Vegas… not by a long shot. As we looked over the menu board we saw that the menu of burgers, hot dogs, fries, nachos and such didn’t apply to us. Oh no. There was this little sliver of the menu dedicated to the suckers who bought the $ 16 lunch voucher and the rest of the menu was ala carte. OUR menu didn’t have the burgers or hot dogs or any such food. It was basically four options, all of which supposedly came with «drink, fresh fruit, potato chips and trail mix». The menu options were:
pre-​packaged roast beef, turkey or greek vegetarian sandwich
black bean chipotle burger
Most of us opted for the black bean burger and it was OK… nothing great, but OK. Others had the turkey sandwich and were pretty disappointed with that. It was basically what you would find in in a 7 – 11. Most of us received our chips, the «fruit» was a small orange, and nobody received the trail mix. The service was horrible. I purchased an extra drink… a frozen lemonade and I had to argue with the person gathering the food in the trailer that I also get a coke with my meal.
So, FYI, the whole meal voucher was a complete scam. We wished we never got it and just ordered off the main menu. It would have been cheaper and we would have been happier.
At this point we took the tram back and left.

Der Preis von 30 oder waren es 32 € Dollar pro Person war ein wenig happig und 30 € für ein Foto war auch sehr teuer aber wenn man schon mal dort ist…
Es war auf jeden fall ein aufgegebenes Erlebnis für mich und ich bin stolz auf mich das ich sogar einmal kurz mit Überwindung das reine durchsichtige Glas betreten haben.
Sollten wir nochmal zum canoyn kommen dann ohne skywalk die zeit würden wir anders nutzen aber wir bereuen es nicht und waren begeistert und haben auch gleich né Fotoserie genommen

$ 70 per person to walk on a bridge?
I don’t need or want whatever else they’re selling. I want to walk out, see an amazing view, and then go home. I have no problem with dirt roads, but for $ 70, that warrants a paved road. Then the real kicker is you drive the two hours from vegas, you make it past the dirt road that your rental car company is going to kill you for, you somehow have enough gas to make it back, and then you get there and you have to wait two more hours for a shuttle to take you to this bridge?!? You can’t even drive to this thing??? The plastic tent where you buy tickets and wait for the shuttle looks like something temporary from burning man, it doesn’t exactly inspire confidence in this over priced trip they’re pitching.
If you want to charge professional prices, provide a professional product.

I am not reviewing the skywalk because I didn’t experience that part of it because they were charging to enter plus you can’t take pictures, you have to pay for pictures they take for you. Yah … NO lol
BUT, the whole Grand Canyon West experience was pretty fun. I loved every minute of it. Only thing is. It’s on Indian territory so they charge you up the ass for every single thing. Just the entry fee alone is 45 $ per person. But I think it was worth it.
On hualapai ranch we got to ride the horses for 35 $ person which was pretty cheap, I think. Because back in Vegas they would charge up about 200 $.
Overall, it was a great experience. I want to visit the other locations of Grand Canyon for sure.
