Great reviews so we decided to give it a try and I’m so glad we did.
Price is great. Portions are large. A lunch plate will cost you an average of $ 11.
The food is great. I’m from Hawaii and I can tell you this is as close as it gets in getting authentic Hawaiian lunch. And they also sell bags of Poi here!
The staff is so sweet too and always checking to see of your okay. I’d recommend this place :)

The customer service is second to none. I watched how they talked to everyone there. One woman even got a hug when she walked in. Great balance of attentiveness and attention to detail.
This was my third time getting food from here. I have had maybe half the items on the menu too. The one thing that stands out is the portion sizes. You will not get bigger Hawaiian BBQ sizes anywhere. The teriyaki sauce isn’t the best but it is still pretty decent. I am not a fan of the breaded chicken and the fried rice didn’t really do it for me. But hey, maybe I just don’t understand traditional Hawaiian dishes.
It was really difficult for me not to give this place 5 stars, Very difficult. I had to really look at other places I gave a 5 and compare this place to that.

My favorite Hawaiian Restaurant here in Las Vegas. My go to spot when friends and relatives visit.
This is an great find. A very clean and friendly place. The staff is very friendly and attentive. It is located in a little strip mall but never had a problem finding parking.
The Furikake Chicken totally rocks this place. They serve up some good Kalbi and I love the Saimin. You can’t go wrong with either the Chantilly or the Haupia cakes. The only weak point, for me, is the Kalua Pua’a. It lakes the smoky saltiness and is a little bland for me.
This is a great find that I think you’d really enjoy and should not miss.

This is one of my favorite Hawaiian restaurants… No, correction: This is one of my favorite restaurants in Vegas!
Their portions are HUGE, food is very delicious, prices are very reasonable (very cheap for their serving size, if you ask me. but I’m not complaining), and it’s a nice family owned restaurant that gives you that «Ohana» feeling.
My favorite dish is the Furikake Chicken. I eat a lot of food, but I always have left overs enough to satisfy my appetite for my next meal. Their Kalbi BBQ is also really good.
Their bathroom is very clean. For a restaurant whose been around for several years, I was expecting a not-​so-​clean bathroom. However, I was totally wrong.
The servers are friendly. However, every time I come here, they always miss 1 thing we order or they forget to bring something we asked for… And it happens all the time!
Nonetheless, I still love coming here & am definitely a regular.

I am afraid to write a review for this place because it’s my favorite Hawaiian place. It gets really busy during dinner time as is. If you want real Hawaiian cooking then come here. They even had a live band on Friday night I think. Anyway, they played my in law’s favorites including I Miss You My Hawai’i. The lady was pretty good I guess, for she left him and the better half misty eyed. I was gnawing on my food but she had a pleasant voice for sure.
We ordered a bunch of items including kalbi, loco moco, and Kalua pig of course. We also ordered the coconut dessert which is white and gelatinous, served cold. I think it’s called oompia? I can never remember the names properly and am pretty ignorant of customs and pronunciation. The first time I went to Hawai’i I thought they were all pretty rude bc they kept sticking their fingers at me driving down the road giving me the Shaka. I am not a fan of the 1 finger salute normally. J/​K BTW. It was delicious. I am not a sweets eating person and I enjoyed it.
Don’t get this place mixed up with Island Style on Sahara. The last time I ate there to satisfy my Kalua pork craving before a big entrance exam, it was pretty food courtish. The pork was overly done as in sitting under a heat lamp kind of overdone. Flavor was just lacking. Indigestion in bed was complimentary. They give you peanuts at that place but the unwelcomed flies that were fighting me for my food made it less than memorable. You do Kung fu chopsticks with the fly on one hand while trying to eat with the other. This kind of callanetics I don’t need. Rest assured you need not worry about them here. The place is very clean.

This is where the real locals come to eat.
I’ve lived on the west side for about 6 years now and never ventured here because it was «too far» for me. Your spoiled in Vegas do anything more than 10 minutes away is too far… I needed to check this place out as my beloved Kauai Café is now closed so I needed to find a new spot to satisfy my local grindz.
My default order here has been the kalbi and Korean or furikake chicken with fried rice. I suggest that you washit all down with a POG or lilikoi juice for the «local» feel cuz that how we do it on the island.
Just be warned that the plates here are massive! Just look at the pictures of the massive mountain of Ono-​kanack food. Always get leftovers. You want to save room for the Ono deserts like the Kona mud pie or chiffon cake.
This is the must eat place I recommend to all my 9^th island ohana.

This restaurant is one of my favorite Hawaiian restaurants in town. It is a sit down restaurant in a casual atmosphere with island music playing in the background. There is one server who is always super sweet, quick, and she is very attentive. Unfortunately, some of the other servers, not so much.
Come hungry! The portions here are HUGE!
My favorite dishes are:
— Furikake Chicken (not the same on the shrimp, would recommend chicken only)
— Kalbi Short Ribs
— Fresh Made Ahi Poke (2 sizes, half and full)
— Macaroni Salad

The workers always greet you with a smile on their face and a very welcoming, «aloha!» I’ve never had to wait for a table. They usually seat you right away, but that doesn’t mean they’re never packed.
The food is amazing! The price is reasonable since their portions are so huge. I love love love a good spam musubi. Their flavor is just right, but sometimes I wish they would lessen the rice. The fried rice omelette is good! I think they use sticky rice for it butttt I’m not sure. The oxtail soup is also really good. The chantilly cake is sinfully amazing. If that stuff wasn’t so fattening, I would probably eat a whole cake to myself.
Their customer service is always on point. My water is refilled almost instantaneously. I will definitely keep coming back here!

Did an order for pickup off the EAT24 App. First time trying this place. 2^nd time trying Hawaiian BBQ.
I ordered the chicken Katsu and teriyaki steak. The steak was JUICY and delicious! The Katsu is really good but the app didn’t let me opt for gravy instead of the Katsu sauce. I would have preferred gravy. So that’s my ONLY minor complaint.
My boyfriend ordered the furikake chicken and the chop steak. The furikake chicken is BEYOND delicious! The steak was juicy and amazing.
Next time I won’t order the Katsu but everything else I will order again! I highly suggest the two meat plate, get the furikake chicken and the teriyaki steak and you will be soooo happy you did!
I’ll be back! The woman who gave us our order was kind and the order was ready for us when we got there.

Small place, but good Hawaiian style food. Lots of local HI folks, eating here felt like I was back on Oahu. Great portions for price. Haupia cake, Chantilly cake, and Guave cake for desert. Yummy!
Just a note, friendly staff but plan on slow service.

Furikake Chicken & Kalbi with BBQ Pork Fried Rice — I liked this dish a lot. The chicken at first was a unique taste, but it grows on you. The kalbi was good. The fried rice was a bit more wet than I like.
Loco Moco — I thought I would like this because of the gravy, but I actually didn’t really care for it. I thought the flavor was a bit weak. My sister said she can see why people would like it.
We were so stuffed we couldn’t even try dessert.
If I return, I would get the mixed plate and something else. Also, hopefully we can save room for dessert.

On Tuesday evening ³⁄₁₅^th my son and I came here for dinner after attending a college seminar at nearby Sierra Vista High School.
We were served a variety of Hawaiian foods by a very friendly waitress, and paid a reasonably low price compared to the large portions of tasty foods received.
My son ordered the Hawaiian Style Roast Pork, cooked local style w/​Hawaiian salt, cracked black pepper, sliced thin and topped w/​rich homemade brown gravy. This entrée came w/​sides that he selected macaroni salad & french fries. He says he liked it!
I ordered a mixed plate that included any 2 choices. I went with the Hawaiian Style Roast Pork, and also had the very tender Kalua pork served w/​steamed cabbage. This mixed plate came w/​a giant scoop of fried rice, very filing!
Everything we ordered was delicious, however I confirmed I am not a fan of spam.
The décor seen throughout this clean restaurant was island themed, and the entertaining sounds of Hawaiian background music completed the pleasant charm to this restaurant located on the Southwest side of «the 9^th island.»
We look forward to returning again soon. Mahalo :-)

Unilocal 100 REVIEW CHALLENGE 2016: #66

I have been to this location a handful of times. All of which were pleasant experiences. Servers were friendly and very attentive all of the times we visited.
Please don’t get me started with the food.
.goodness! My personal favorite is the Furikake Chicken. It’s so flavorful and delicious! Huuuuge portions for a small price. One plate can feed two. Chantilly cake is to die for. Definitely must try! Best Chantilly cake I’ve had.
Only downside is the small, cramped space. I don’t like sitting and eating next to strangers. It’s weird. It’s always busy so there may be a wait. But other than that, I can’t complain. I’ll definitely recommend this place to anyone!

My go to spot for authentic homemade Hawaiian food. Portions are huge so I would recommend you share. Don’t even try to finish your meal, I don’t know anyone who has ever finished one of their plates in one sitting. Staff is super friendly and are very accommodating with large parties. Splitting the bill was simple. We ordered the Furikake Poke (prices vary based on fish market value), Loco Moco (with amazing gravy), Mud Pie, and Lilikoi drink ($ 0.50 refill). You can’t go wrong with any of their dishes!

My wife and I don’t gamble, our clubbing days are in our rear view mirrors, and watching Las Vegas type shows are a little too pricey for us. So, what the heck are we in Vegas for? Our daughter and her club volleyball team are here for four days competing in the SCVA 30^th Las Vegas Classic Volleyball Tournament. Since we don’t do any of things most people do while in Vegas, what else is there to do. Well, I didn’t mention the other thing people do, which is what we did here at Island Flavor. EAT!!!
There are several Island Flavor restaurants in Vegas, but the one you have to visit is the one off of Durango. Island Flavor resides amongst other tenants in a small strip mall. We visited Island Flavor for dinner and from the outside you would think the restaurant is tiny, which it’s not once you walk inside. It’s also dark from the outside because of tint they have on their windows, which is probably due to the scathing sun during the Las Vegas heat. Once we entered, the restaurant was jam packed, meaning that we were about to embark on some good eats. That was an understatement. Our group of 5 had to wait a little while because of how popular this place is. There’s not much of a waiting area. The décor is Hawaiian themed through and through with island décor all over the restaurant. The staff worked hard to turn tables and provided decent customer service, but did the best they could considering how busy they were.
Island Flavor represented Hawaiian food really well. As we walked into the restaurant, you are greeted by a display case filled with spam musubi, which should tell you what to expect. I ordered the loco moco and ahi poke furikake. Boy was I happy!!! The ahi poke furikake was divine and tasty-​licious. It was fresh, seasoned just right, and combined with sliced vegetables. I can say that Island Flavor’s ahi poke can compete with the best of them. I ordered half a pound, which was less than $ 8 and was a great appetizer. When my loco moco was brought out, my group and I were amazed that it came out in a huge bowl. Coming out in a bowl should tell you how much food you’re getting. It was massive and I didn’t finish half of that dish. It was doused with gravy, with cooked just right hamburger patty, had a bounty of rice, and was topped with two sunny side eggs. Once I broke the yolk and watched it flow onto the gravy, hamburger, and rice, I was salivating before I took my first bite. The conglomeration of everything really satisfied me except for one minus. The gravy needed either salt or seasoning, but that meal with its massiveness is what I call true value for your money.
For my family of 3 and the amount of food we ordered, I really thought we got our money’s worth and we were able to bring home leftovers. I definitely recommend ahi poke furikake and the loco moco. Although we don’t do most of the usual Las Vegas things to do, we always do what Las Vegas is also known for, which is stuff your face until your belly hurts. Thank you Island Flavor for doing this in spades. Yummy-​licious Big Time!!!

Cute mom and pop shop that caters to Vegas locals. I hadn’t had Hawaiian food in awhile and one of our friends had never had it before so our local friend took us here.
I ordered the mixed plate of kalua pork and furikake chicken. Omg the chicken was soooo good. The seasoningnof the cjicand the crispiness were on point. Unfortunately the kalua pork missed the mark entirely; it was wicked bland and way too chewy as if it had been overcooked — utterly flavorless.
My friend who had the mixed plate with kalua pork and roast pork had the same complaint about the kalua pork as well but she was happy with the roast pork, especially the sauce it came with.
We also had the spam musubi which was good: sauce was appropriately sweet and not overbearing. I do wish the spam slice was thicker.
We also ordered the ahi poke which they forgot and ended up coming at the end of our meal. The servers apologized but that was it. We couldn’t really enjoy it as it came well after our entrees and it seemed like they rushed to make it — the seasoning tasted off.
For dessert, we took home a piece of chantilly cake. The cake and buttercream were soooo creamy and smooth. It’s pretty sweet so if that’s not your thing, steer clear. It’s delicious both warm and cold.
I would say for a Hawaiian place, I was really surprised that they screwef up the kalua pork. The only saving grace for me was the furikake chicken and spam musubi so 3.5 stars.

Two of my friends recommended this place so I went ahead and gave it a try.
I ordered combination short ribs and chicken katsu with brown rice and macaroni salad and half a pound of ahi poke with the japanese seasoning.
My ahi poke was fresh and nicely seasoned. Their servings were huge!!! You may want to try to share a plate with a friend. The short ribs were cooked perfectly, as well as the chicken katsu. I liked how the batter was crispy, yet the chicken was still moist. The brown rice was overcooked, and I did not care for the macaroni salad.
Overall, still a great Hawaiian joint! I’ll be back for more!

I went over here out of whim because one of my friends wanted to treat me out for dinner. I wasn’t sure where to go so I opted for some Hawaiian comfort food. You can’t even go wrong with that! And I’m so glad that I choose this place because they do deliver great tasting food.
When we arrived at the venue, it was PACKED with people. I was under the impression that it was empty given that it looked dark in there, but boy do they have heavy tinting on their windows because it was crowded when we walked in. When you see so many people in such a place, you know that they go there for the food and the food alone.
I ordered a combination of chicken furikake and teriyaki beef. I think that chicken furikake is the most popular item from this venue and they have a good reason for this. It’s delicious, and kind of out of this world. I loved the combination of salt and sweet together of the sauce that was douced over it. As for the teriyaki beef, well, I just want to say that I’ve had better. There was nothing about that caught my attention and it definitely did not give me the wow factor. So if I were to rate each dish, I want to say that the chicken furikake is a 4/​5, beef teriyaki ³⁄₅.
Before I ate my combined meal, I had to try the spam musubi! I’m a fan of that delicious treat, so there was nothing that will stop me from ordering this simple appetizer. I think this was the highlight of my whole visit here. I want to rate it a ⁵⁄₅ all on it’s own, as it is the best one that I’ve tried so far. It think if it came with it’s own sauce it would be even better. I ate this one with soysauce which was still delicious. The rice that they used was perfectly looked. And the sauce inside was DELICIOUS. I love the combination overall as all the ingredients worked harmoneously together.
This restaurant is definitely a MUST try!

OK folks, I just want to let you know that this is not your fine dining, dress up kind of place. This is where you will be asking for extra napkins, put on some shorts and flip flops and bring a large appetite for some good olé Hawaiian plate food /​comfort food. Stop it, don’t count calories when you come here. Fill up and exercise after… you nap off the great food.
When Island Flavor opened up in Henderson, the owner was telling me to come over to the regular restaurant on Durango. Today for Grandma’s birthday, we came here for lunch!
The place — What is it with all this development south of the 215 between Durango and Jones? What a great deal of good food places coming from this area.
The parking — No problem in this nondescript strip mall. Plenty of parking.
The place — This your basic table and chair dining room that is truly basic because it is made to be eatin and not to be fussin.
The menu — Wow, Ahi Poke, Salads, Fish, Beef Stew, Opakapaka, Oxtail Soup, Chicken Katsu, Pork Chops, Kalbi, Korean Chicken, Rigs, Teriyaki Chicken or Beef, Musubi, Mac Salad, Tons of Rice. This place is heaven for good olé plate food.
The food
Korean Chicken and Kalbi — This is the mixed plate I ordered and the Kalbi is just right. Yank the meat off the bone and it is all tender. Not too much bristle and fat just and plenty of good olé flavor. One of the best. The Korean Chicken is great. Fried and then a wet sauce is added to this that is so tasty with all its oriental flavors. I really enjoy this Korean Chicken. It is basically wings. Love it. Plump and juicy.
Korean Chicken and Teriyaki Steak — The wifey had this and the steak was melt in your mouth.
Loco Moco — Hawaiian breakfast over rice. A huge bowl of goodness is what my son ordered. He can eat a lot but he only ate half as it was so big and he was saving his stomach for dessert.
Island Flavor Salad with Catch of the Day — The daughter ordered this and it was both huge, at least 12 ounces of fish, tons of sald, sweet potatoes and won ton strips. She was starving and could not finish this.
Oxtail Soup — Wow, the soup was good but the oxtails were like soaking in the soup and there was a lot of it. Great taste, fall off the bone and a lot of it too!
Mudd Pie — Ummmm, that crust is the best ono thing I can ever imagine. Is it a crushed oreo that is made into a crust? I don’t know. It was a large piece of pie and the Kona Coffee ice cream was good but I did not eat most of it. I instead ate all the crust. That was so delish!
Chantilly Cake — An interesting cake that I cannot really tell you if it is good or bad as my mouth was full of that crust from the Mudd Pie.
Chocolate Ice Cream — The daughter was expecting a scoop and she got like a huge sundae shaped bowl full of chocolate goodness. I did taste it and it was very good for sure!
This place is so good. It is fun, tasty and comfort food at its very best, if you like Hawaiian Plate Food.

What a great find! So glad it’s off the beaten path from the strip. It looks dark from the outside and judging from the Vegas sun, that’s understandable. Once in, it is warm and inviting on this cold Vegas evening.
When we ordered, I was thinking along the lines of some of the Hawaiian places in San Diego. The portions here are big! The partner started with the Portugese bean soup… flavorful and hearty! He thought the salad was coming on his teriyaki beef plate, but a large side salad appeared as well. My mom and I ordered the roast pork… a mound of pork covered in gravy with two scoops of rice and a scoop of mac salad. I was in Hawaiian food heaven! I also ordered the special fried noodles, and a large plate came out with char siu pork… very good! My dad had the oxtail soup and really enjoyed it!
No wonder this place gets crowded because lots of locals were coming in. I saw two desserts go out, and we ordered the banana bread pudding to go. This came with a delicious vanilla sauce! It’s good to know there’s another alternative to come to instead of eating at the California Hotel… LOL!
The staff was really friendly and our server told us that they’ve been open for seven years now. I can’t believe we didn’t find this place sooner! This place is legit! Can’t wait to come back! If you’re a haole and do not understand Hawaiian culture or food, please go eat at Jack-in-Box…I think there’s one down the street…
