*sigh* This really should be a 1 star rating but what happened to me was out of Jill’s control. It has taken me nearly a year to write this review because of mixed feelings. My husband and I met with Jill before we even conceived, we for lack of a better term fell in love with her and what she stood for. Things were awesome in the first 4 month, felt completely confident in our choice for a home birth and her ability to facilitate it. HOWEVER, Jill herself became pregnant and due conditions of her own was no longer able to provide my care. The alternate midwife (apparently the one who trained Jill) Lydi Owen took over my care. There was a consistent failure to communicate, excessive tardiness for appoints and arrogance among other small personality eccentricities. This is were I and my husband feel we were let down by Jill (we were still in phone contact with her). I attempted on several occasions to indicate I was unsure about the care I was receiving. Wether due to her own pregnancy or her faith in Lydi I don’t know, she continued to say I was in the best hands etc etc. I put my concerns aside and tried very hard to form a bond with Lydi. She however made me uncomfortable on more than one occasion and was down right chilly to my mother when she was told my mom would be attending. I was fine for most of my pregnancy right up until my last month. My blood pressure had been phenomenal and was suddenly off. I was very pale and both my mother and husband thought things were «wrong». When attempting to address this with Lydi I was told oh this is what happens at the end repeatedly. Jill at least said you need to do what you feel is best. I wanted a home birth so I agin put my concerns aside trying to trust in Lydi and the natural process that is birth. She said oh you just have a kidney infection, (a kidney infection is very serious for a pregnant woman and what I think she meant was UTI) drink cranberry juice, this went on for 2 ½ weeks. I wasn’t having any discomfort from it that I could tell because at that point I was contracting on the regular. Finally at my 40^th week my mom took of work and hauled me into quick care. Sure enough what had probably been a UTI had turned into a kidney infection. The PA at the quick care immediately scheduled me for a stress test at the hospital and made an appointment for a OB/​GYN the next day as he was unsure what antibiotics I could have at this point, he also sent off my urine to be cultured as my vitals were abnormal. I went to the hospital had stress test, baby was fine and my blood pressure was back in range at that point. Was examined said you’ll probably have this baby tomorrow go home and rest. Next day went to OB/​GYN was examined again given a packet of papers told to get to hospital right now don’t even go home for my bag. Then started the 96hour traumatic labor and delivery of my daughter. I arrived at hospital and they took more urine. They came back and the nurse just looked at me and said yeah… Your urine… Not good. Meantime the PA called with culture results, I had an Ecoli infection. Obviously antibiotics were started etc. What I had hoped to be a private peaceful affair turned into a loud invasive threating ordeal. Thankfully my daughters heart rate stayed were it should because I got into several arguments with first 2 doctors about a c– section. I managed to vaginal birth because the 3^rd doctor didn’t believe in c– sections unless absolutely necessary.
My point is this if for some reason Jill can’t attend you, seek other care. Also despite the crazy brain that happens during pregnancy, You know you body and if something is wrong get traditional medical care. If I had, had proper treatment for infection from the start I might have still had the home birth I wanted despite our lack of confidence in Lydi.
I tried to explain this to Jill again shortly after my daughters birth our dissatisfaction with Lydi but it fell on deaf ears. This is why I decided to post this review if she had listened and comprehend what we experienced under Lydi’s care, I wouldn’t have said a thing. I wanted to stay in contact with Jill but just couldnt after being dismissed.

Jill is a master of her craft! My husband and I felt very safe and comfortable. This was our first (born 1−22−14 8lbs 3oz boy) and we wouldn’t have changed a thing, we highly recommend homebirth and more so Jill! We had her full attention during all our appointments and know we can call her anytime. During the birth she knew what and when to say what I needed to hear. If you’re considering homebirth you will be happy and safe with Jill and all her knowledge. Good luck!

Jill is great! Very knowledgable and informative, not only is she a midwife but also a certified herbologist and volunteer firefighter! This lady had a lot Under her belt and does her Job wonderfully.
Jill gave me all the info I needed to feel confident about a home birth, and even though I had my baby prematurely she equipped me with great info and piece of mind about my situation and helped me find the right hospital to take care of my baby. Plus she provided me w natural remedies and herbs to help any discomfort and prevent any ailments.
I feel assured that whatever questions i have she will be there for me!
Looking for a midwife and planning for a baby can be stressful, look no further you have the right person for the job!

I just gave birth to my 3^rd baby last week. This was my first home birth and Jill was my midwife. I absolutely LOVE Jill, she was so supportive and confident. Jill let me birth at my own pace, while giving me gentle suggestions to help with the labor process. Her suggestions sped up my labor and before I knew it had a beautiful healthy boy in my arms. From the first prenatal consult with Jill I knew I would be comfortable with her caring for me and my unborn baby, she really knows her stuff and treats you like you are her most important priority. I have never had a call or text go unanswered for long (she usually responds within minutes!) and she knows that all your concerns are valid and worth listening to. Not only am I now a huge supporter of home birth but also of Jill as a midwife. I wouldn’t have wanted to do it without her and will gladly recommend her to any one whose goal is to experience the beauty of a home birth.

Jill is the best!!! I used her for my second birth and my first time home birth. From the first meeting to birth to post-​natal care, Jill was professional, knowledgeable and just a pleasure to work with. Every meeting made me comfortable for the baby’s healthy and happy arrival. Highly recommended!!!

Jill is one kickass midwife. She is highly knowledgeable, professional, and truly cares about her clients. I just gave birth at home three days ago with Jill’s help, and I am now back to work with very little to no postpartum problems or issues. Baby and I are doing great. Jill, my hats off to you. Labor was definitely hard, but I wouldn’t have been able to go through with it without your help. I highly recommend Jill.

Jill was our midwife and helped give birth to our son in December 2012. Everything went great and she was very professional. I recommend her to anyone interested in having a home birth.
