History

Established in 1991.

Key Realty School is a Nevada based private fee based adult education institution. The school was originally formed in 1991 by founder Ted Federwitz. The school grew with the Las Vegas valley and has now proudly educated more than half of all practicing licensees with the Nevada real estate trades. Over 50,000 students have attended both post secondary and non post secondary accredited programs through Key Realty School. In 2004, Key Realty School began offering education in states outside of Nevada. The school now offers training in: Nevada, California, Arizona, Utah, Alaska, Hawaii and Oklahoma.

Key Realty School is one of the preferred real estate and business education providers in the Western United States. The school’s dynamic instructors, course materials and school counselors provide for a learning environment that has helped shape business practices and careers of licensees for decades.

Key realty has been a big part of my continuous success in my real estate career. I used them 4 years ago when I had to study for my exam, I have now been licensed for 4 years. I still go to them if and when I need my CE classes and have always been satisfied with the classes and teachers.
Anytime a person talks about getting into real estate I always suggest for them to go to key realty school. Two of which are now licensed and are having a lot of success in their business endeavors.
I will continue to use them and recommend them.

I went to Key Realty for the Salesperson State and National exam. During class, the instructor seemed to focus on his personal life more than helping us prepare for the exam. I feel like he gives some good advice, but we are there to prepare for the exam, and I do not feel as though this school does that. Also, I studied for the state exam and did not study at all for the national exam my first time taking it. I failed both, but was only 3 questions away from passing on the national (which I didn’t study at all for), compared to 4 questions away from passing on the state (which I studied for).
Basically, you pay at the beginning so the school gets paid whether you pass or not.
I do not feel like the info in the book, nor the info presented in class was very helpful in preparing me for the exam.

the owners son runs the place and is a complete ass he is rude and was very disrespectful to my mother (she was attending)
we just moved to nevada from california and my mom has been in property management for over 35 years we come to las vegas and she is looking for work and she thinks maybe a real estate certificate could help (she was never informed of the fact you had to have a real estate license for this certificate to be valid) she attended school 3 before finding out and it was basically pointless they did offer her money back but the owner son was rude and disrespectful when she went in. he even threatened her with things saying she could never work here in nevada its a crime if she does and so much more …
people if you are really interested in going back to school go somewhere that they appriciate your education and will to learn and are informed !!

I just had my first day of class and I too walked out after listening to 2 hours of the instructor talking about nothing but his own personal success. Although I’m very happy for him… I don’t give a shit! I will be doing the online courses moving forward to ensure I actually learn the material. Key Realty needs to reevaluate what the instructors are discussing with the students to make certain they are doing the job I’m sure they are getting significant compensation for. I basically paid $ 500 for reading material and practice tests. A star for each textbook I received.

What a joke! I took the property management course and all the guy did was read the law verbatim from the book. Then, we went to take our exam and our teacher got in a fight w another teacher that wanted to make an announcement in our class regarding her cram course. I paid for the cram ahead of time but had no desire to be at this building any longer than necessary.

I’ve done both my pre and post licensing at Key and am thoroughly satisfied with the classes. The teachers have experience and know how to prepare you for a life in real estate. I’m also the recruiting manager at a real estate brokerage firm in Las Vegas and the students who come out of the class are well informed and hungry to get into the business.
I haven’t taken any of these classes, but I also know they offer property management classes, broker’s classes, and a variety of continuing education courses (requirements for real estate agents as they continue their careers), so they are a one-​stop shop for all required real estate education.

This school was a complete waste of my time. I ended up walking out in the middle of class. I learned more in 1 day with my parents (who are agents) than I did in that class. All the instructor talked about was his personal stories, how rich he was blah blah. I guess if your young and naïve he paints a pretty picture. I had enough when he said «the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, and that how it Should Be» or my favorite line that I can’t believe was said «poor people don’t deserve to own a house» or how about the answers in the back of the key realty book being wrong, and the instructor says «Ya we do that on purpose so you don’t cheat» HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO LEARN WITH WRONG ANSWERS? I’ve been around real estate my whole life and coming home each night and talking to my parents about it they were in shock!
If you want to be a realtor do yourself a favor and don’t go here.
Wanted to add an update:
Just got my fingerprints back in the mail today from the division. They got sent back to me because Key realty provided wrong information. They said we had to send a money order for $ 48.50 for our fingerprints. just got them back saying I need to get a new money order for $ 38.25. Thanks a lot now it’s going to take even longer to get my license in.

The book and notebook are great for studying, but the main instructor, even though he is very knowledgeable, tends to stray off the subject and talk about personal experiences rather than focus on the subject matter. The other professors were great.

JUST PASSED MY NV REAL ESTATE BROKER EXAM! Key Realty School helped me obtain my salesperson license 6 years ago and they help me with all of my continuing education. It was only natural to contact them when I decided to get my Broker license. They gave me everything I needed to get the job done.

I first attended Key Realty School in 2005 and I have been a fan ever since. I routinely use their continuing education renewal packages for my real estate licenses (they cover California & Nevada). Recently, I needed a proctor for a series of exams and was pleased to discover that they offer testing services. The staff is great and they go above and beyond to ensure that customers are taken care of. I continue to be impressed by their friendliness, attentiveness and professionalism.

I was referred to Key by all of my friends and most brokers that I asked. They lived up to the hype. The instructors were great and often engaging to the point I didn’t want to stop attending. I give the school 4 out of 5 because their exams were more difficult than the actual licensing exam and I was actually really over prepared. I guess that is not a bad thing but I struggled with some of the wording and come to find out the state test was much easier. Great school overall and great experience.

My buddy and I just finished the Inspection class and it turned out perfect. We passed the exam without problem and the 102 course did a great job of prepping us for the field. I wish we could have had a few more reporting options to select from but I guess most students seek out more reports from the insurance companies. We turned everything in and we are just waiting for the license so we can begin marketing our new inspection concepts to every real estate licensee.

The school provided ample material to use for study & guide. A book on National Real Estate, binder with an overview of nation & state, CD’s on all courses needed to pass the exam, access to loads of study material via their website, including classroom videos to view from home. The instructors were knowledgable and well experienced in real estate. They included humor, study & real life scenarios.
Classroom courses were available during the day & in the evening to allow those working full time, as myself, to complete the course. You can take a two week course which includes a full day/​night class from 9am to 1:30 then from 6pm to 10pm. You may also choose the 4 week course, day classes or evening classes.
After completing the course whether it be the 2 week or 4 week, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND taking the One Day Test Prep on Saturday!!! The prep allowed me to only focus on the area needed in order to prepare for the State & National portion of the real estate exam. I’m blessed to report that this school helped me pass my Salesperson Licensing exam first time through!!!

I enrolled my boyfriend in their 20 hour mortgage course ($ 299) as a surprise gift because he had mentioned it was something he’d like to do. But it turned out the dates weren’t going to work for him. Also apparently the state of Nevada looks at your credit when making a licensing decision, he’s concerned he may be turned down and wanted to research the requirements before committing to the school.
So within 24 hours of enrolling him in the course I contacted the school to find out how to get a refund. They told me I had to fill out a withdrawal form and either fax or bring it in, and that I’d have to bring the books in before I could request a refund. I was shocked because I didn’t have any books and yet they claimed they shipped them out to me the day I had paid for the course. So I waited for the books to arrive, I printed the form and I drove 30 mins. away to deliver them in person. I had no problem getting the form signed by a staff member right away but after she signed the form she began questioning me about the withdrawal, at one point she even seemed like she was going to deny me for my reason. She got attitude and asked if I had spoken to anyone at the school because they «could give me the information I need to determine if he’d be approved for a license». I really just didn’t like getting 20 questions. She finally made me a copy of the signed form and told me they had 15 days to refund me but that they would be keeping a 10% fee. I’m annoyed because It had been less than 24 hours between when I paid and when I requested a refund, oh well… live and learn. I have yet to be refunded we’ll see how long it takes to get my money.

Firstly, a logical education plan is non-​existant. It does not guide you in logical ways to learn or comprehend and sitting in the classroom for hours, you leave literally feeling like you wasted your time. I taught myself more in 15 minutes of home study than hours in there.
The «instructor» tells lots of personal stories, cusses, berates, and tells everyone how rich he is, very professional. Obviously the instructor has a problem with himself and has to hide behind how much money he has and the influence he has in the valley to make himself feel superior. I was not impressed or awed.
They don’t keep attendance, they don’t have a schedule or anything, they just don’t care. I got fed up and stopped coming. No one bothered to call, write or check and see what happened. To them, once they got your money they could care less about you and what happens. Nevada law says that you have to get education to get your license, so these guys know that they will just keep getting the business, what a racket.
If you are a absolute newbie to the financial world, then you will be thoroughly confused as somehow you are expected to just jump right in without learning the basics. The school was cheap… and everything else was cheap, especially the ‘education’.
I ended up finding out that I bought a very expensive book to read and actually learn from. I think this school is getting paid to not produce real estate professionals. I would definitely NOT recommend this school to anyone looking to get their real estate license. To call this a ‘school’ is degrading to the word. Please look elsewhere, I am pretty sure that most any other place in the valley is better than this.

I started to do my Nevada real estate studies from California via an online course. I couldn’t sit in front of my computer for 4 hours let alone even 1 hour reading boring real estate principals and laws.
So I decided to come out to Las Vegas, since I was planning to come out anyways and started to look at some in class schools. I was in between Key Realty and the one offered by my broker to be. But Key had an accelerated 2 week cram course where you attend both morning and evening! classes, while my brokers course just had a 4 week course version. Also Key Realty School was more flexible in the fact that if you happen to miss a week you can always find the course again in the following weeks (as the courses alternate) and they even have each subject pre-​recorded and its available online.
The instructors were both great. Teddy and Robin. I had Teddy for 1 week and Robin for 3 weeks. There styles are different but I enjoyed both of their teaching styles. (Robin is a bit more direct: whats on the test… lets go over it. While Ted is a bit more about whats going to happen out in the real world).
The practice exams that they have are pretty good… I think they are harder than the actual PSI exam. I was averaging 68% or so on the practice exam… so I was a bit worried. But I just bit the bullet and decided to take the PSI exam on saturday (as a walk in) and I passed! Missed 3 on the State and missed 8 on the national. 92.5% state/​90% on the national.
2 weeks course? thumbs up!!! (i had no background in real estate at all… coming from a computer software background).
