Kindred Hospital Las Vegas – Sahara

This hospital is the most unprofessional hospital I’ve ever seen. My mother was not taken care of well and not only did she get worse under this places care but she passed away here and was sent to umc. I’m outraged and wish I could help keep your loved one from going through the pain my family has endured. To the administration– you can keep your comments, there’s not a thing you could say that would ever make me feel any better. I’m holding my tongue here too because I want to help others to not let their loved ones die in your care and I don’t want my review removed.

This place is questionable, my mom has been here all of 3 hours and I’m disgusted with the cleanliness of her room. Like WTF, why are there dead bugs behind her bed, why is there an oder in the room and why is the floor is filthy… she’s here for rehabilitation not to catch other infections, diseases and whatever else is roaming around in this filthy excuse of an acute long term rehabilitation facility…

I come in and find that my mom is not connected to her oxygen. Instead the oxygen line next to her is flowing. I demanded to speak to somebody in charge to tell me how long she had not been connected to her oxygen and of course the charge nurse never showed up. The respiratory technician came in and stated that she had not been disconnected from her oxygen for too long and he apologized and said that there was no excuse for it. This is just unacceptable!!! As I’m sitting here guess what I see another Roach crawling around on the floor. I’m really looking forward to hear how the administration team is going to rectify this issue. I’m really looking forward to someone addressing the poor conditions at this facility.

My late husband was brought here for supposed to be rehab as he was getting better. I was promised by a certain Leslie that he will have a private room. It was a lie. He was there for 4 days, and he became worse. I had to transfer my husband back to Centennial Hospital where he came from. The ambulance who took him told me that he was seriously ill. As soon as he got in the hospital, it was a worse sight for me. Kindred neglected my husband. And after 2 weeks in the hospital, I lost him. Beware of where you bring your loved ones for rehab, because I will not make the same mistake twice and I don’t want you to go through what I went through. That facility should be closed.

Understaffed by far! Very sick patients and unable to care properly for them. My husband spent time here and fell several times. The lack of care and uncleanliness was unacceptable. I felt they just wanted to keep him there as long as they could and refused rehabilitation for him. So happy I got him out of there and he is doing great now. Received the rehab he desperatly needed elsewhere.

Until this year, I had never been in a hospital more than a day. When I woke up I found myself at Kindred Sahara I knew this was going to be long term.
My fiancé had researched local rehab hospitals and chose Kindred Sahara based on reviews and doctor’s recommendations. I was awakened after being down for 52 days and I began my (conscious) experience with my new home away from home.
I can’t say enough about the folks who work here. «Culture of Caring» is not just a marketing slogan. It’s how the people here are each and every day. Yes, it’s very clean, the response time is excellent and the attention to detail is apparent but it’s the people, the one’s that care for you when you’re most vulnerable, who are Kindred Sahara.

Thank you for bringing me back to life.

My aunt checked into Kindred April 17^th 2015 after open heart surgery. This facility is extremely well taken care of and the professional CNA’s did a great job of taking care of her. Much thanks to Case Manager and RN Jerlyn Mendoza, plus her amazing staff in assisting my aunt towards a speedy recovery!

I will say that this review is subject to change to start off with. Please read throughout as I will log my entire experience/​moms experience. I also should note any cons likely will be more descriptive just because I want to notate the specifics of these.
Pros: Just about every nurse has come in with genuine care for my mom. I feel like they have tried to develop a rapport.
My mom enjoys the food, which cannot be discounted when in pain.
The hospital itself I actually feel is quite nice.
They have hyperbarics to aid with wounds.
Cons: The utmost con was a male nurse who showed a complete lack of compassion for my mother. What I will be describing will tie in to other cons. My mom is experiencing the worse pain of her entire life and a sweet older female nurse is apologizing for being an hour late on the meds (to happen every 3 hours bp permitting). This disgusting individual (a male nurse I will withhold name due to fear of retaliation on my mom) says to the female don’t apologize you’re not that late. My mom is in tears and convulsing and you throw away her pain. I confronted him and was told he was doing his job and they have never been late. Got a printout of meds and there were some severe inconsistencies. So first deplorable bedside manner then being called a liar is stomach turning. I have not seen him back and better not.
Secondly there is a lot of confusion. The nurses and doctors do not seem to communicate. Talk of her going home although she need weeks of hyperbaric and likely more surgery. People uncertain about meds and treatments.
¹⁰⁄₅ update: Head of nursing met with my dad and reviewed in details my moms case. Looks like we are known in the hospital. Not sure if that is a good thing but everyone is being quite attentive and explaining what’s going on. Just looking out for my mom.
Second review today. I met with the Chief Clinical Officer of the hospital who explained the wound my mom has is more severe than perhaps had been realized so time had been spent talking to the staff on all ends detailing this. The willingness and desire to meet with us was a sign that the goal is for the care to be the best possible, and I feel much better about her time here. It was a display of the utmost of professionalism and caring.
Well just as we thought things were better here is update three. My mom went near 4.5 hours without any pain aid after being assured this would not happen. She did get a shot of insulin and quite a few checks if she had finished her dinner. When I asked a nurse they said they’d be right back. I have been told her wound is severe and infected. I have taken off a couple weeks from work to be here and need to head back Sunday. After I felt this level of reassurance from the Chief office I’m back to where I was yesterday. My greatest fear is at three in the morning she will be writhing in pain from an above the knee amputation and there will be excuses as to why she just had to suck it up the pain. I don’t like hearing that so and so did not know about her wound or pain med schedule.
