History

Established in 1971.

Donald R. Layton, CPA began practicing as a sole proprietor in 1971. A University of Utah graduate, Don moved to Las Vegas in 1965 and gained employment with the firm of Bunker and Jones. Bunker and Jones merged with Laventhol and Horwath, and Don soon left to begin his own practice.

Richard D. Layton, CPA, CFE joined his brother’s firm in 1974. In 1981 Richard and Don formed the partnership of Layton & Layton, Certified Public Accountants. Richard graduated from Weber State College and moved to Las Vegas after gaining four years experience in private industry.

In October of 1991, Michael D. Tobler, CPA (deceased) merged his firm with Layton & Layton to form the current partnership of Layton Layton & Tobler LLP.

Meet the Business Owner

Donald L.

Business Owner

Don is the managing partner and founder of Layton Layton & Tobler LLP. Don graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He has extensive experience in audits, business consulting, tax preparation, and accounting for businesses and non-​profit organizations. In addition, he has represented individuals, businesses, and non-​profit organizations before the Internal Revenue Service.

Don is active in the CPA community. He is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and is currently a member of the AICPA Tax section. In addition, Don is an active member of the Nevada Society of CPAs and has served on several of its committees. Don is active in the his community.

Don was a founding board member of several non-​profit organizations. He has currently serves as a board member for Specialized Alternatives for Families & Youth of Nevada (SAFY), a non-​profit foster children support organization with offices in eight states.
