Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas

After 4 exhausting days caring for a parent in the ICU in Vegas, I was so beyond spent. My husband, being the man that he is, met me there for moral support and booked us a room here at the Mandarin Oriental before flying home with me. — A Forbes triple 5-​star luxury hotel. He picked it specifically for me because 1) It is a luxury hotel. 2) It has no casino. and 3) It’s smoke free.
This is not a party hotel. In fact, I haven’t heard a single noise here. It’s very classy. Both in its décor and in its clientele. Haven’t heard any noises and haven’t seen a single bedazzled t-​shirt.
Upon check-​in, we were asked if we were celebrating anything special and my husband told them how I’d spent all of my time with a loved one. As a way to improve my week, Mandarin gifted me a trip to their spa for any service that I wanted while I was there. Then concierge did their magic and got me into the fully booked restaurant I wanted to try.
As soon as I found my room, I dimmed the lights, selected the «spa music», soaked my bad week away in the deep tub with their complimentary bath salts, slipped on their robe, and I’m pretty sure I whimpered when I slipped between the sheets and into the most comfortable hotel bed I’ve slept in.
Mandarin has made an awful week bearable. I’d recommend it to anyone who is a little too grown up for Vegas.

On this visit stayed in a standard room, but still found all the amenities top notch.
Pros:

–Large Bathrooms w/​separate shower & bathtub, double sinks

Cons:
–I only have one. A note was given in the room that the restaurant was going to be closed one night for a private event. However, when I went to meet a friend in the bar, it was closed for a private event (would have been nice to have been given notice, so that we could have planned accordingly). We were able to meet in the lower lobby and have a drink, but it was rather cool (temperature wise).

MO definitely delivered what it promised — a refined atmosphere and relaxing experience with convenient access to the similarly upscale Aria and Cosmo, which unlike MO, have casinos, shopping, and many restaurants.
Right off the bat, we got a great room (free upgrade) where we could watch the New Year fireworks unobstructed. Room insulation was good — we could hear a little bit of noise next door and above, but considering we stayed during the week of New Year that seems reasonable. It was really nice to retreat to a quiet and warm room after being on the crowded and chilly strip (it was in the 30’s and 40’s during our entire stay)!
We dined at MOzen Bistro for breakfast and had a delicious but pricey meal ($ 7 for coffee and $ 10 for a side of fruit). We had the oatmeal and a salmon bagel, and while we enjoyed our food, for the value, I would probably not dine à la carte next time around. Room service portions were large and tasty (caesar salad was yummy).
The reason for four stars is because while the hotel has five star amenities, I think it merits four stars for service. For the size of the hotel, and yes it’s pretty large (nearly 400 rooms), I don’t expect there to be a high staff to guest ratio. But there were many times we entered and exited the hotel and observed an empty bell desk or the absence of a doorman. And the service itself, while generally quite friendly, could have been more prompt.
There were small inconveniences that presented during our stay, and though taken individually they were not much of a nuisance, they added up over time. For example, when my husband forgot his coat in the car (parked in a location unknown to us) he called the valet service and asked how he could get his coat. He was told someone would promptly retrieve it for him. When he went downstairs nearly an hour after his inquiry, his jacket had still not been taken out of the car. Similarly, upon my departure, I requested a plastic bag. When I called housekeeping to deliver this, I asked if they could deliver it as soon as possible. I waited for about fifteen minutes before calling back. The operator contacted the department to check up on the request and said that housekeeping had acknowledged the request. Fifteen minutes later I left without the bag.
Also, while the hotel opened in 2009, which makes it a fairly new hotel, I was dismayed to find what appeared to be scuffed up wooden floors, and water stains (?) on the bathroom floor. Our room was large and really very beautiful but could have used some polishing up.
That being said, turndown service was great. Did anyone else find the MO music video bizarrely hypnotizing?
Four stars. Would return.

Sometimes you want to stay in a hotel that isn’t a ginormous vertical party. I’m sorry, but I am so over the «college dorm» experience. (The stuff that happened at my dorm isn’t even legal anymore.)
The Mandarin Oriental is deserving of its 5-​star and 5-​diamond accolades. Located in City Center adjacent to the Aria, the calm spirit is strikingly juxtaposed against the deviance, debauchery, and derangement occurring outside. Inside, a perfect mix of style, serenity and luxury.
From the moment we arrived until the sad day of our departure, the staff provided smiles, genuine warmth, and the very best service. We were always addressed by name and treated as welcome guests, not just customers or work-​product.
The accommodations were comfortable and well-​appointed. We were assigned an upper floor with a view (thanks Shirley!). Once in our room, we were greeted with complimentary champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries. Fresh fruit and bottled water were always available.
During our stay, we enjoyed the 23^rd-​floor tea service adjacent to the sky bar lounge, visited the Spa, and experienced all of the «in-​room» luxuries and amenities. The views are good — but not the heart-​stopping panoramic views you get from the corner balconies at the Cosmopolitan.
Finally, you won’t read this in other reviews, but everything just smells good at this place. From the lobby, to the elevator, down the hallway, all the way to your room — it’s like walking through a field of lotus flowers (even the valet guy and the Bellman smelled pretty good).
Life is too short to have to deal with loud noise, rude people, and bad odors. So give yourself, your sanity, and your olfactory system a break from the madness. Book a room at the Mandarin Oriental and «stop to smell the flowers».

Un hôtel d’exception dont le service est irréprochable. Il mérite sa 1ère place sur le strip. Les chambres sont magnifiques, spacieuses et disign. Le ménage est effectué deux fois par jour, le personnel vous apporte en fin de journée bouteille d’eau et glaçon. Un kit technologie est présent dans la chambre, la Tv fait fonctionner la lumière, la climatisation, les rideaux à partir de la télécommande. Une ambiance zen y reigne laissant de côté la folie de Vegas. Pas de présence de casino. La piscine est très appréciable, le personnel vous y installe accompagné de bouteille d’eau fraîche. La salle de bain est aménager d’un téléviseur miroir. A noter que cet hôtel est très sécurisé, vous devez être muni de votre carte d’hôtel pour faire fonctionner l’ascenseur et devait utiliser un second ascenseur pour l’accès aux chambres. Un hôtel parfait en tout point

Super hôtel sur le Strip, l’avenue centrale et walkable (si si) de Vegas.
D’abord ce n’est pas un casino: beaucoup d’avantages à ça, comme né pas devoir traverser un hall enfumé (toujours surprenant au pays de la lutte contre la cigarette, mais c’est Vegas, baby) ou profiter d’un calme de bon aloi. Pas l’ombré d’une machine à sous ou d’une table de roulette donc.
Ensuite, l’hôtel est quasiment à taille humaine, enfin au standard Vegas: «seulement» 400 chambres, quand les poids lourds du Strip comme le Caesars en affichent facilement 10 fois plus. La réception (au 23ième étage et non au rez-​de-​chaussée ! ça surprend) n’a pas les dimensions d’un hall de gare, et on se sent accueilli individuellement, c’est agréable.
Enfin, le cadre comme le service sont au top ! C’est moderne (l’hôtel a ouvert en 2009), la déco suit des tons noirs-​gris-​blancs du meilleur effet (pas le brun-​orange envahissant à l’américaine !), on peut profiter d’une triple (!) piscine en plein air, pas très grande mais très agréable même fin novembre (testé pour vous), et les chambres sont grandes et confortables (né pas oublier de réclamer la vue sur le Strip pour la débauche de néons toujours photogéniques la nuit !), y compris la chouette salle de bains avec douche ET baignoire (grande !! rare aux USA !) et sa cloison translucide la séparant de la chambre: design et sympa.
Il y a certes quelques toutes petites critiques qu’on peut trouver, comme le salon à côté de la réception qui est occupé la plus grande partie de la journée par un salon de thé et donc inaccessible pour qui veut simplement se poser (et qui le reste du temps souffre à la fois d’une musique d’ambiance vaguement asiatique et surtout discordante et trop forte, et d’une clim trop froide), l’obligation pénible de prendre 2 ascenseurs successifs pour entrer ou sortir de l’hôtel (1 pour gagner la réception et 1 autre pour accéder aux chambres) ou le système d’interrupteurs en chambre pour la lumière, les rideaux, la clim… absolument pas intuitif et qui requiert un diplôme d’ingénieur.
Mais dans l’ensemble, le Mandarin Oriental propose une expérience remarquable, et vu le niveau de service offert, le prix est très raisonnable (né pas louper la promo «3 nuits pour le prix de 2»). Je recommande !

Sehr schönes Hotel mit gutem Service, allerdings sehr unflexibel beim parken. Der Poolbereich ist eher durchschnitt für diese Kategorie.

Zimmer sind sehr schön, Service top.
Aber bei einem Strip View Zimmer mit Verbindungstür hört man jedes Wort im Nachbarzimmer. Das finde ich für ein Hotel dieser Kategorie als absolutes nogo.
