Nevada Chinese Academy

Where to begin. this school is AWESOME! Strong academics, REALLY teaches the language & culture, structured; yet nurturing. My son has been attending for 5+ yrs (2 yr old thru kindergarten) & once he was ready to enter 1^st grade, he tested into the 3^rd & 4^th grade level. I attribute a lot of that to this school.
The directors & teachers of the school truly care for their students & their education. I cannot sing enough praises about this school. And a bonus, they’re even very competitively priced!

I have been waiting to send my daughter here for two years. I inquired when she was 6 months old and the youngest children can be to attend NCA is 2.5, if fully potty-​trained. She was previously going to an in-​home day care.
I’m so thankful I found this place because she is getting the structure she was missing. The teacher and school coordinators are caring and patient, yet strict and hold their standards high. They send home worksheets of the work she did that day, mainly drawing or tracing letters (clearly the teacher is helping her trace at 2.5 years old, but it’s still cute). They are closed national holidays and also celebrate birthdays once a month.
One thing I appreciate is they let us bring almost anything for school lunch and help the kids warm it up. I don’t like feeding all cold stuff for lunch, so I’m able to send stir fry, pasta, etc and they heat it up a little. I also like that I’m allowed to pack her a peanut butter jelly sandwich if I want to (I hear some schools are nut-​free). If we bring snacks for other kids, yes, those need to be nut free, but I appreciate that I can give my daughter mixed nuts for snacks and not just potato chips.
My child felt comfortable there after just a couple of days, and let me tell you, it was a HUGE schedule change for her. She went from going to in-​home daycare, running amok and playing all day 10:30−7pm, to going to NCA 9am-​5pm with lots of rules and adjusted nicely. The teacher and school coordinators are upfront with what can be improved, but are also very accommodating. I wish I could pay for her to do up to 8^th grade here!

My daughter has attended NCA for over a year and is on her way to Kindergarten. I can’t say enough good things about this school, but I will try. Our family is Chinese so it was important to us that our daughter learn our language, not just English. What I hadn’t considered was how much more she would learn from all of her great teachers at NCA. They are very kind and caring. She knows her ABCs, 123s, colors, shapes, writing, reading, and math (addition and subtraction — in double digits no less). My husband and I were just constantly amazed at the level of classwork that she was bringing home to show us and the wonderful part is that she loved learning. NCA established a good foundation for her when she enters the public school system. We wish NCA offered Kindergarten, but sadly it does not, but I intend to have her return to NCA in the summer for Mandarin as a Second Language courses as she grows. Children of all nationalities attend, not just Chinese students. She has English, African-​American, and Hispanic classmates, among others so just because it’s called Nevada Chinese Academy, it doesn’t mean it’s just for Chinese people.
I would highly recommend this school to any parent of preschoolers. It offers great value for what it would cost to put your child in daycare. This is so much more than having someone watching them play all day. I am so grateful that we found this school and wish that we had found it sooner so she could have been at NCA longer, but at least we know she is going to enter Kindergarten with pretty advanced skills. I know I certainly never learned all this stuff when I was in preschool or even Kindergarten.
