Olivia Newton-John: Summer Nights

This show was beyond fabulous. If you have any affection for her work and/​or her voice… You won’t be disappointed. When she sang Xanadu tunes… I teared up. The audience went crazy over Grease tunes. I Honestly Love You and Thank You left grown men in tears. I know every word to every song so I’m somewhat of an ONJ freak… BUT even for the average fan… Her voice is a perfect soprano just as it was 40 years ago. Olivia Newton John is a must see.

I have been a fan since I was 9, but never had a chance to see her in concert until now. I can honestly saw she is timeless and can still sing like and angel, and dance like she was in Grease. I got to meet her after at the meet and greet and she was just stunning, and as sweet as I ever imagined. I am a fan for life!

I was surprised I enjoyed this show so much. Olivia still looks and sounds great, and so many great songs. Great show.

I went to see this show during the week and I had a good time. Most of her music is for the older set, but there were some younger people in the audience.
She started with a number of songs from Xanadu and then transitioned to some country and western (a bit twangy but tolerable). There were some songs that I hadn’t heard before which is always good. She ended with a medley of songs from Grease – not my favorite movie nor group of songs. There was an audience sing-​a-​long with her and then more with her back up singers while she went off stage to change for her final numbers. The concert ended with a real favorite song of mine – Peter Allen’s «I really Love You.»
The band is excellent and the singers with are are very good, too! I was a bit disappointed to see three monitors at different spots on the stage with lyrics scrolling by. I guess it’s just a safety feature in case she might get stuck on remembering the lyrics to a particular song. At least it wasn’t scrolling when she was talking about her career or parts of her life.
I think the show is over-​priced but nostalgia sells. It’s not a show I’d see a second time but I had a good evening and her voice is still quite nice!

I’ve always wondered how performers such a Olivia feel performing in a small Vegas show room after probably touring the world and playing some of the largest venues available. Well, now I know. I felt this intimate setting really allowed her to get up close and personal with the crowd. It gave me a sense what it must have been like to see the Rat Pack perform.
Most importantly though, Olivia sounds amazing. She does most of her biggest hits, along with a couple I hadn’t heard before. Her selections from Grease were great, but I loved the Xanadu set. I wish she had sang Totally Hot which is one of favorites, but I guess she only had 90 minutes.

Originally bought these with a living social promotion, and got a really nice seat upgrade and tipped the usher.
As for the performance, Olivia is legend status with me, and she lived up to and exceeded expectations. She has a great voice, the songs you know from 70s country to Grease to ballads to everything else! Tremendous!

What a lovely show. Great memories, and Olivia is still fantastic! I really felt the venue did not do Olivia justice. Seating was in a squishy dinner and show sort of venue. No point paying for premium tickets. Great night out

«Have you never been mellow?» Olivia Newton John (abbreviated Olivia) asks in her second number one hit. Olivia’s fabulous hits have made me mellow since childhood. I am so advanced in my years that I can write that I have grown up with Olivia. I remember being a kindergartner in 1978 at the Rocky Point Drive in watching a new movie called Grease” and singing along to «Your the one that I want.» On drives on the Grand Central Parkway to my grandparents apartment, my dad would play her Greatest Hits 8-​track. In recent times I would sing along to «Summer Loving» driving from Red Rock Canyon. Now I would be singing along with this musical legend in person during her Summer Nights show in the Flamingo Showroom.
My philosophy with show tix is when in doubt check Tix4Tonight out. They sold us $ 48 seats for the balcony. We were in for a surprise. The usher led us to a table a few arms length from the stage. This is the closest seat that I ever got to a musical legend.
The Flamingo Showroom is conducive to get into a concert. It is intimate and historic. It appears so historic that I wouldn’t be shocked if Bugsey Seagull sat here. A nice touch was that there was a cocktail waitress serving drinks. This beat standing in a concession line.
Olivia backed by her talented band performed 22 songs. «Have you never been mellow?» led off the 90 minute concert. When the song ended, Olivia teased us that she was going to play a song from that movie, but not that movie (Grease). It was «Xanadu» that led off four songs from the early 80s: «Magic,» «Suddenly, «and «A Little More Love. «
The high energy of the early 80s transitioned into her beautiful soft country-​rock songs of the 70s. It was a mellow, unplugged style segment of the show. Olivia treated us to radio classics including» Sam,» «If not for you,» «Let me be there, «» Please Mr. Please, «» Take me home, country roads, «and» If you love me (let me know).
The pace picked up again with «Physical.» Olivia again interacted with the audience joking that this is the only song of hers that was banned in places.
The mellow side of Olivia resumed with «Cry me a river» and «Send in the Clowns.» Her beautiful vocal presentation of the later puts to moot that she is solely style. Nearing her 70^th decade, her voice is still a beautiful musical instrument. What is over and above beautiful is how Olivia won her battle with breast cancer in the 90s. Her next song «Not going to give into it» was an inspirational message in music to the audience. A portion of the ticket sales supports the Olivia Newton John Foundation.
The Summer Nights spirit kicked in when Olivia brought «Grease» to the Flamingo Showroom. She led us in singing and swaying along to «Look at me I’m Sandra Dee,» «Your the one that I want, «» Hopefully devoted to you, «» Summer Nights, «and» We go together. «She could of ended the show right there and we would of got more than our money’s worth. But no!
Following the catchy» Grease» segment, she performed two more songs. There was the more recent «Grace and Gratitude» and «I Honestly Love You.»
I honestly love Olivia Newton John: Summer Nights. The songs she performed are 22 reasons to love the show. She sounds as fantastic in person as on the stereo. Every band member contributed to the outstanding musicianship. Olivia Newton John: Summer Nights was a 90 minute show that left me feeling mellow.

Olivia a wonderful concert at the flamingo it was worth every bit of the last big music stars from the 60s and 70s she sung her best songs all of her hits country Grease and pop hits the show simple but very well done every seat is good we got front rows I think the flamingo as a casino is ugly but Olivia Newton John brightened it up we saw her Saturday, March 21, 2015 730 show

Wow. What a tremendous show. We bought tickets because we grew up listening to ONJ and she did not disappoint. She is still beautiful and her voice sounds like it did twenty years ago. Good backup vocals and band also. Opened with some older stuff and went into the Grease/​Xanadu mode. Its amazing how many hits she has had and you don’t even realize it until she sings them all. She interacted with the crowd well and told some interesting stories behind her songs. Probably the best Vegas concert we have seen behind Rod Stewart.
Cant miss show. Go see it. The only negative is the seating at Flamingo. Old school style with hard chairs. But don’t let it keep you from loving the show.

Loved every minute of this show and, as the other reviewers mentioned, I was pleased that the venue was so intimate and there was not a bad seat in the place. She was very personable and funny, didn’t take herself too seriously and engaged the audience on numerous occasions. I have been a fan of hers since I was 9 years old and it was so cool to finally see her in person after listening to the «Xanadu» and «Grease» albums so much that I warped them! Awesome night all around.

I’ve waited to see my idol, Olivia Newton-​John, my whole life, and I finally saw her perform. I was so delighted with her performance and did the meet and greet. She is amazing, and she still looks great and sounds great. She is worth the ticket!

Olivia, I’m hopelessly devoted to you!!! You put on a GREAT show and absolutely surpassed our expectations.
Summer Nights was definitely worth the ticket price of $ 165. Olivia sang all our favorites (see setlist) – Xanadu, Grease and Physical. The theater is a small, intimate venue – making every seat a great one. We even had room to get up and dance!!! A fun night and perfect outing for our group of 9 women!

Unreal she still has her voice. The setting was intimate in the Donny and Marie showroom, and she did virtually everything I wanted to hear. «A Little More Love» = 5 stars alone. A healthy set, mixed with storytelling, it was very personal and not Vegas cheesy. They even incorporated a couple in from Massachusetts, of which the fellow proposed to his girlfriend in the middle of the set. Pretty dope.

Overall the Olivia show was great. No complaints about the ‘show’ part except she should have ended the show on an upbeat song. The show itself was awesome.
Now for my complaint. My assistant arranged for an after show meet and greet. The price point for this ticket and meet and greet is $ 300. That sounds pretty reasonable to get a 8×10 photo to get signed, a professional photo taken and meet-​n-​greet. As 50 of us were lined up like cattle into a lounge, we were first told to use hand sanitizer!!! I know she’s a performer and it’s expensive if a performer gets sick and has to cancel, but it’s a little ridiculous. We were told no iphone photo and no cameras were allowed. We were told 3 photos would be taken, 1 pose and 2 other candid shots. They told us to pick up the photo after we left the lounge. I was like «YAY!» I was handed 2 photos in those cheap Vegas frames, then asked «Are you paying with cash or credit». I was like «I already paid for the meet and greet», evidently a printed photo of the meet and greet cost $ 45 per photo extra!!! Bait and Switch. This should have been included in the meet and greet. If you can’t afford to include the photo with your meet and greet at least allow us to take one with our own camera, Santa Claus does and he’s been around a lot longer than ONJ! This left a bad taste in my mine. I realize Vegas is all about either a «deal» or «vip», but how terrible is it for some people who are traveling on a budget, work hard for their money, paid for a meet and greet then told if you want the photo you must pay $ 45 extra per photo! Shame on you Flamingo!
On a brighter side, Carrot top offers a meet and greet for $ 40, walks in the room, chats, shake hands with everybody (without hand sanitizer), then takes as many photos as you want with your own camera AND his assistant uses a camera incase you don’t have one, then signs as much merchandise as you’d like. Now that was an awesome meet and greet experience! Take note Olivia Newton-​John producers!

Show was very very good. she sings all the hits and sounds fantastic… looks wonderful… has a great personality… solid thumbs UP vegas show. I grade one level below perfect for the theater. The flamingo is a sketchy place for sure… and the theater has no formal seats… just tables and chairs set up like you are in a night club. you end up twisting your neck all night to see the show… cocktail waitress very annoying to guests trying to enjoy the show! They take a photo of every group entering the theater and try to sell them for $ 35 after the show. enjoy Olivia and just try to ignore all that is going on around you!

Loved loved the show! I met my brothers in Vegas over the 4^th of July weekend and made sure that we could see Olivia.
Back story. I have 2 brothers. One brother is in the army and the other lives in New York. We all love to gamble. My brother John who is in the army has never been to Vegas but my brother Bruce and I have been several times. Well John was shipped out to Afghanistan a year ago in March of 2013. We got to talk a few times on the phone while he was deployed and we wrote letters. He told us both, when he got back from deployment he wanted us all to meet in Vegas.
He called after he got back and said «Hey can we do 4^th of July weekend in Vegas?»
Us: Hell yes!
Bruce calls me immediately and says OMG I think Olivia is in Vegas, we have to see her if she is there when we go. We look it up and sure enough she is there when we are. BINGO! Buy the tickets now! Now I say! We did.
We all graduated from High school in the eighties. So we know us some Olivia!
She sang all of her hits from Xanadu, Grease, etc, plus some country ones that I had forgotten about. She looked fabulous, her voice was still awesome. We were singing and swaying to the music the whole time!
The theatre is intimate so I don’t think there were any bad seats in the house. If you like Olivia this is a must see show!

She was fantastic! Went to Sat nite very energetic and still with that great voice and the best that she could be. Thanks for a great show. The duet was great with a very talented guy I didn’t get his name but he has a strong voice too.

Olivia Newton John is top notch! I thoroughly enjoyed this concert performance. It is an intimate theatre experience – highly valued in today’s entertainment world.
Olivia takes the audience through her cater hits and does. Great job taking us up and down with pop, country to rich torch songs.
Wonderful show. I loved it.

I am so glad I capped off 3 days in a row and 3 shows with Olivia! She is my father’s celebrity crush and when we found out she was debuting her show the last night he was in town, I got tickets during the pre-​sale. We got in line about 30 minutes before the show, which starts at 7:30 PM. This is the same showroom that features Donny & Marie and George Wallace.
While waiting in line, I realized I was perhaps 3 decades younger than everyone else, but what the heck! We had balcony seats at a table. We sat with a couple from Ontario, Canada. Olivia was very conversational with the audience and had a band complete with a percussionist, bassist, drummer, and back-​up vocalists, one of which played a variety of instruments including the fabulous flute, saxophone, and even harmonica.
The female back-​up vocalist also helped Olivia with the majority of her on-​stage costume changes, which was changing jackets primarily. She only did one costume change at the end of the show before a 2-​song finale, wearing head-​to-​toe gold sequins.
She sang songs from all aspects of her career, pre-​Grease and post-​Grease. She is an Aussie who moved to England at 18 and sang in lounges. She sang songs she was inspired by, like «Cry Me a River» by Julie London (in V for Vendetta for my generation). Olivia sang from Xanadu, from her country hits in her early days, songs from her 90s album Gaia, and of course… PHYSICAL!
The most excitement for the crowd came from her 4 minute montage of her life early in the show, with pictures hinting at the order of her career, and the nod to Grease. She started with a tease of «Look at me I’m Sandra Dee» and then broke into songs from Grease with her back-​up singers: You’re the One That I Want, Hopelessly Devoted to You, Summer Nights, and We Go Together. The crowd went wild! Sure, there were songs throughout the show I did not know, but I did not grow up with ONJ so I was just thrilled to see my dad so happy. Cool show no matter what generation you belong to, I’d say!
