By far the most incompetent doctors, nurses, and office staff I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. I have a health issue that has lasted for a few months and has sent me to the hospital a few times. Because of this, I knew it would be impractical to switch to a different primary care doctor in the middle of my treatment. Oh how I wish I had never gone here to begin with! The first time I saw the doctor(Wednesday), she spent about five minutes assessing my condition and then sent me to have a CT scan(Monday). Although she said it was very important to see me in exactly one week for a follow up, when I called to make an appointment after my CT scan, the office staff blew me off and said to «just come in next Monday», no matter how much I stressed the severity of the situation. The night after I should have had my follow up, I ended up in the ER. The morning after I returned home from the ER, I again called the office to ask if they could squeeze me in that day and explained what had happened. It was the same thing. «Just come in Monday.» I later found out my doctor wasn’t even at that particular office the day I called, she was at the Maryland Parkway location. Nobody mentioned this, or I might have called over there. I finally saw my doctor on Monday. She referred me to an Ear Nose Throat specialist. I saw him the following day, and fortunately he was proactive enough to want to take care of the problem as soon as possible, instead of blowing me off for another week. He got me in to see a colleague on the same day so they could start a biopsy. The next day I was preparing to leave for work when my primary doctor called me and said I need to go to the hospital to receive an IV antibiotic treatment. Apparently they couldn’t find a home health agency to take my case the day before Thanksgiving. My specialist was the one to specify the treatment, and my primary was the one to call it in to the hospital, or at least she was supposed to. When I got to the hospital, I followed the directions my doctor had given me. But it appeared as though neither my doctor OR the staff had faxed or called my information over, because nobody had any idea who my doctor was, let alone that they were supposed to be expecting me. I was admitted that day and discharged two days later, the day after Thanksgiving. On Monday I had an appointment with my specialist. He saw my discharge papers and immediately there was a problem… I had been receiving the wrong course of treatment. He called my doctor while we were in his office and asked why she hadn’t listened to anything he had told her. He said he had clearly explained what antibiotics I needed, and that I needed a PICC line, and that I needed to continue my treatment for two weeks at home. He sent us down to her office with a post it note that had the names of the antibiotics I ACTUALLY needed(lest she not listen or care again), and said I would have to go back to the hospital. Great. I wish that I could have left Physician’s Medical Center and never come back, at that point. The wrong treatment for me just meant that I didn’t get any better. The wrong treatment for somebody else could possibly be fatal. I don’t understand why she would have referred me to a specialist, and then not bothered listening to anything the specialist said. The good news is that I am now receiving the correct course of treatment. The bad news is that I still have to deal with this place until I complete my treatment. I still struggle to get an appointment when I need to. Whenever I call and need to speak with a nurse, they say they will call me back. Of course, they never do. When I call back(which I wait to do if they haven’t returned my call in at least 4 hours), they have no record of me calling earlier and I have to explain myself all over again. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.
