Plato’s Closet

Very nice and helpful staff! If you’re used to selling consignment pretty much anywhere then you’ll be okay with their trade to cash ratio.
If not, I’d suggest eBay or poshmark (that’s where I post when I feel like something is worth a little more).
There’s usually a wait for them to purchase clothes but there’s plenty of clothes/​accessories in the store to go through to kill some time.
I come here pretty often and I have never encountered any rude behaviors from staff so I feel like a lot of these reviews are just people who get butt hurt that their clothes didn’t get bought.
Overall, a great and affordable place to find cute clothes!

This is the worst location I’ve visited so far. Three female employees, mostly standing around checking out each others lip liner and eyebrows! Behaved fine to me but were extremely rude to the customer in front of me. Sad really, this place used to be one of my favorite spots to pick up a deal.

Store is well organized. Staff customer service needs help but can be achieved with development and training. Manager Margie S. really cares about the service that is provided in her store.
I encounter an issue and Margie addressed my concerns. *negative review was updated from a one star to a four due to management addressing issues.

I love this place!!! Margie, the owner, is extremely nice and has such a good eye for fashion! They have an amazing selection and I know I can always find quality clothing here! I highly recommend this place to anyone!

I could care less my items are not purchased every time, but if you are working in customer service try practicing it. The girls behind the counter were AWFUL. No help on the floor and just rude when sorting through clothes and not just to me, but I observed others being laughed while they shopped while the girls behind counter went through their clothes. Try not to act like high schoolers every second of your shift. There is a time and a place for that.

The young ladies that work here are very nice, and they seem to keep the store well organized. I think the pricing on some items is a little on the high side for second hand clothing. ($ 18 for second hand Sanctuary sweater? Eh.) But all in all, I was pleased with the the buying process, and the customer service. Good job ladies!

Normally, I wouldn’t expect a gently used clothing store to have such superb customer service. The employees really took care of me. All of the clothes they carry are the ones in style, so expect to spend a lot of time here picking out amazing outfits! I can’t believe they took my sister’s clothes that I was planning to donate to charity!

This place has gotten too picky. Brought items in the other day and they didn’t accept anything. Brought in a couple pairs of almost brand new VS yoga pants, nice miss me jeans and stitched jeans. I can understand them not wanting my more basic items. But the reasoning for the jeans? «Bootcuts don’t sell». Pretty sure not everyone wears skinny jeans! Now I’m selling my items on Facebook for more than they would’ve given me :) you guys will eventually lose all your business due to being beyond cheap with your buying and being extremely picky.

I’m disappointed in this place because the few times I’ve gone here, they have either only taken one or two items or don’t take anything at all. The last time I brought things in to sell, I had two big bags of never worn jeans, some casual summer dresses and some shirts and the guy said they passed on everything because my items were too dressy.
Originally when I came in the lady told me it would take two hours to look at my items so I looked around for 15 min and then waited in my car for a few min and decided to just wait inside. The guy saw me and asked for my name and handed me back my items and told me they passed on everything. I was confused because most of the items I had were never worn and they had identical clothes they sell in the store. To be honest, it didn’t even seem like they looked at my bags because everything was still folded the way I folded them and I looped a dress with a belt around the handle of one and it was still in the exact same spot.
It’s just disappointing because they advertise this place on the radio and online like its a great place but really the service is just not 5 star. I’ve sold things at the Utah store and have always gotten great offers and this place is just not what I thought. I won’t be coming back. I’m going to take the exact items to the Utah store and see what they give me and write another review.

Came here to sell some clothes. Usually when I sell clothes at other consignment stores, the people buying tend to be kind of rude… Maybe it’s because they’re sick of looking through people’s used clothing, maybe it’s their way of being selective, but either way it often comes off rude. But HERE! — the girls working here were all super friendly. They did warn us that their inventory was very full so they had to be extra selective –at least they were upfront and polite about it.
I can tell that the demographic for this store is teens and young adults. Most consignment stores don’t look twice at my forever21 items, but they actually took a lot of my stuff. Mostly crop tops and halters… really trendy items. I also got more money than I would have at Buffalo Exchange.
I even shopped around and saw some cute things that were very decently priced… but since I’m trying to empty out my closet, I didn’t really give it a second look.
Anyways, I recommend this place highly!!-much better than Buffalo.

I read the Unilocal reviews before coming in, so I had a reasonable idea of what to expect for my first visit to Plato’s Closet. I brought in one canvas tote filled to the brim with clothes and called ahead to ask if I needed an appointment (no, you don’t). Tote in hand, I stepped in Plato’s Closet waiting to be smacked in the face with that usual musty thrift store smell but was relieved when that moment never came. Instead, I was greeted by a cheerful employee who told me she’d be right there to help me.
An older guy gave me a form to fill out and then the younger gal came over and explained the selling process. The wait time was less than 15 minutes, and I took that time to peruse the store. By the time the employee called my name, I had 6 things in my hand (but alas, I walked out empty handed). I was disappointed to see Plato’s was only interested in buying 4 tops from me. Honestly, the things they bought were the items I least expected to be sold. They took a plain grey muscle tank, a TMNT baseball shirt, and a Coca-​Cola branded tank (can’t remember the 4^th item). I was offered $ 8.40 for my items. Hey, that’s more than I walked in with!
The brands and styles carried in the store are meant to cater to teens and young adults. I saw a lot of Forever 21 and Target brands with a few indie brands meshed in between. They had about 4 – 6 pairs of Doc Martens on hand ($ 45+), which I think was pretty cool. Some items were priced cheaply (trendy shorts for $ 3), while other price points were excessive ($ 8 for a lame shirt from Target). As with all thrift stores, you have to dig for the good stuff!
Worth a Return Visit?
I’ll be back to Plato’s to try my luck again at selling and buying!

The customer service was perfect. They were very helpful. Hands down the best platos in vegas. They have a very wide selection of clothing Hollister, urban outfitters, pac sun and anything else in between! I’ve literally seen joggers that retail at $ 69.00 on karma loop and platos are selling them for $ 14.00 that are in perfect condition. It’s super affordable and anyone can easily find a perfect outfit for less than $ 20.00
I’ve never written a review before but I had to this time. I had more fun looking for clothes at platos than I would at any other mall.

I’ve tried really hard to like Plato’s Closet, but every time I’ve stopped in, either to buy or to sell, I’ve been nothing but disappointed. I gave two stars because this particular Plato’s Closet definitely had the nicest customer service out of all the locations I’ve been to, but all in all, I’m not going to come back.
On my latest visit, I brought in a big bag of lightly used clothes, all of which I maybe wore twice. Nothing looked worn-​out or deserving of the goodwill pile. On top of that, everything was fairly pricy brand names like Free People, Hollister, Billabong, and even a pair of Diesel sneakers, which I wore once. All of these should be great resells right? Well I guess I was wrong, because Plato’s Closet didn’t take anything. Not a single thing. They claimed the clothes were stained and/​or worn, which I think they just mistook the style of the clothes for. The real clincher though is that I went through some of the clothes that they were selling, and I saw tons of cheap Target and Walmart brands, and shoes and clothes that were in much worse condition than what I had brought in. I left feeling very irritated, having wasted a large chunk of my day for nothing. Plato’s Closet is a cool idea in theory, but in reality they’re ridiculously picky about what they accept to resell and the clothes that they do sell are, at best, nothing to scream about, and at their worst, you’re better off going to Goodwill or a locally owned resale shop. Sorry, Plato’s Closet, you’re just not worth my time.

I love this Plato’s Closet. It’s my favorite store in town because you can find all kinds of amazing apparel for super cheap. I have found a bunch of adorable dresses at this store for $ 8-​$ 18. I have never seen a dress for over $ 18. The only thing is, if you are selling clothes don’t expect to make a lot of money because their prices are so low and they are pretty selective. I highly recommend this location, they’re the best!

Very friendly staff, they recognize me when I come in, wait times are a bit long in the afternoons so come in early!

If you’re looking to sell your clothes here, download the vinted app and you will be much happier. This store will give you pennies for your clothes. Sellers beware.

Came in here for the first time to shop and sell an item. Of course the clerk didn’t want to buy the semi-​formal dress I had. Said it was too formal, they are casual. Well, from the looks of the merchandise, I would have to agree.
Clothes here were not of the best quality. I know it’s a thrift store, but for how picky they are, I expected a lot more. Women’s clothes were mostly trashy juniors and the same goes for their accessories. I don’t think I will have any reason to come back. This is unfortunate because there is a lack of quality thrift stores in Las Vegas.

I brought in a ton of items for review and I mean a TON. I had to borrow a dolly to bring it into the store. The employee was really nice & explained the process since it was my first time. She told me to return in 30 – 45 minutes while she went thru my things. I returned in 1 hr to be told that NOTHING of mine was going to be bought and that they had passed on EVERYTHING because my stuff was to dressy. I’m pretty sure I had casual tops, tank tops, denim capris, etc. So I made girlfriend haul my stuff back to my car.
Since they didn’t want my stuff I took it to Shade Tree a domestic abuse shelter for women and children. At least I knew that it was going to people who really need it. Note to self… that will be my first AND last trip to Plato’s Closet! I wasted a whole hour out of my day for nothing! All of the stuff in the store looked like the clothes I brought in, but whatever. That happened for a reason so people in need could have my items. It all comes full circle at one point.
Don’t waste your time!!! I heard that they have bought tank tops for $ 0.75 so all in all just donate your stuff to a shelter or somewhere similar.
