Let me tell you a story about this store, located in the swanky Crystals shopping center attached to the Arias hotel: Hubby and I had been walking and shopping the Strip in the dead of summer, where the temperature in Vegas was hotter than the surface of the sun. I need to stay hydrated, seriously, for medical reasons. For those of you who know Vegas well, you know that there are no water fountains around in the entire city. Not a one! They want you to purchase water bottles, and I carried one around but wanted to refill it. I couldn’t find a water fountain anywhere. I thought perhaps there may be one located by the washrooms, but alas, no. Nowhere. I went looking for hubby, as he left me while I was on my water fountain quest. I found him in this Porsche store, drooling over some gorgeous fountain pens in the display case at the front of the store. The gentleman who works here was explaining all the features of the pens. He seemed to really know about all the minute differences in all the pens they sell here(and there were quite a few!). Anyhow, when he heard me talking to my husband about my unsuccessful mission to find water, as we were leaving the store, he brought us each out a chilled water bottle(he said they were imported from Germany, to boot! They had the Porsche label on them), just because. I was blown away by this gesture. Here we were, exiting the store, not buying anything, didn’t ask for anything, and this kind man brought us water when he heard I couldn’t find a water fountain. Wow. This is one hell of a classy store — and not just because of the beautiful merchandise for sale.

Been there, bought there. Great store! I am not rich, however, when I go to Vegas I always come away with something special. This time around was a smoking hot pair of PD sunglasses. As soon as I walked I spotted them on the display, I knew they were mine. PS. I don’t gamble when I go so that’s even more justification for the spend!

*** Guys, remember Playboy mags? *** Few guys still subscribe but I remember the holiday editions with pages of gadgets and accessories for a fashion forward man. The featured merchandise in those layouts were slick, modern and mostly very pricey. Well, that is Porsche Design in a nutshell. Albeit PD has been around since the 70s, yesterday was my first time seeing a store. This store is small ~1000sq-ft, but sweet! I spent over an hour in this shop easily. Casual shoes are designed by PD studio yet they are made by Adidas. In fact, everything in this store is made by other sources based on PD concepts … luggage, cuff links, golf bags, satchels, pens, workout gear, cigar clips, etc. They’re all here. *** PD is a like candyshop for the sporty guy. ***
