Sergio’s Italian Gardens

I will start by saying that I eat out quite a bit, but rarely Italian food. I always think of it as pasta… which is cheap and easy to make at home.
Anyway, we recently moved to this side of town so we are determined to find all the little hidden gems in our new neighborhood. Sergio’s is one of these gems!
We went on a Sunday night. We were seated right away. The service was a bit old Vegas, but very prompt. Everything is cooked to order, so it is a bit slower than a lot of places.
They have a piano player! He was really great and he plays a lot of contemporary songs… so we had fun naming that tune. One of the best parts of our visit!
They have a decent sized wine list. I had a glass of Malbec. You can choose soup or salad with your meal. The warm bread and pesto butter were fantastic.
We both ordered 2 pretty basic pasta dishes — a Rigatoni with a meat sauce and a Penne with tomatoes, garlic, basil, & mozzarella. Both came out piping hot and delicious. Honestly, I was surprised at how fresh everything tasted.
For dessert we shared a flan. Normally, this is a favorite of mine, but the sauce was more orange liqueur than caramel which I didn’t know ahead of time so I didn’t love it the way I normally do.
The bill was $ 61 plus tip for 2 people.
I would definitely return to try some other dishes!

Herb is a wonderful and pleasant waiter. Very funny. Food was excellent. Service was fair for such a busy night.

My name is Ro, and I am writing this review on my husband’s account because he has a Unilocal account and we went to Sergios together last night.
I have been a customer of Sergios for almost nine years. In that time I have always received excellent service and excellent quality in the food. Last night, however, things were very different. Yesterday was my step daughter’s 15^th birthday. My husband, his ex-​wife and myself always take her out to eat a special dinner on her birthday. This year she wanted to try something different and go to Sergios. We had a reservation for 5pm and when we were seated, the staff started to struggle almost immediately. We were greeted by Francisco who took our drink orders and read us the specials. As soon as Francisco left, another staff member came to ask us for our drinks, we told him we had already been asked for our beverage orders by someone else. That staff member left, and a third staff member, Herb came and asked for our drink orders again. Then we tried to browse the menu. Our two teenage daughters have never been to an Italian place that had so many non-​English words on the menu before, so I was taking my time explaining everything they were asking about. The staff seemed to dislike this, as Herb, Francisco and the third staff member all came by multiple times to inform us over and over again of the specials and to try and up-​sell our choices. When we did eventually order, A woman arrived with a small child who immediately began to throw a tantrum. The child was screaming and running around the dining room, at one time even climbing in and under the curtains on the window, while the mother did nothing but play on her phone and the staff did nothing about this. The child continued to run and scream for the duration of our meal while the staff continued to pretend it wasn’t happening.
At one point, my husband’s ex-​wife asked if she could have a straw for her water, Herb jokingly reach into our daughters Shirley Temple, removed her straw and offered it to her mother «Here’s a straw you can have right here». This was both rude and unsanitary.
It took a very long time for our food to come out and when it did, it did not come out all together. The waiter, Herb, came out from the kitchen and asked us our orders all over again, and then said it would be a few more minutes. Shortly thereafter, he brought out three of our meals and said the rest would be out momentarily. We did the polite thing which is to not eat and to wait until everyone at the table has been served. It was over 20 minutes before the other two people at our table were served. In that time the food on the table had gotten cold. Ordinarily, this is the precise moment when I would ask to speak to a manager, but these were special circumstances. Our daughter was having her birthday dinner and we didn’t want any confrontation to become a permanent memory on her special day. So we continued with our meal. When it came time to get the check, we were brought a check for just under $ 100. My husband’s ex-​wife had a discount coupon that was good for $ 15 off of our meal. We gave Herb the coupon and $ 100 bill to cover the check. Herb takes our check and the money and disappears, reappearing moments later with a new check for over $ 140 dollars, saying to my husband «I bet you didn’t even notice that wasn’t the right check before, this is the right check and I will take the discount off of this». We were outraged by this, of course, but again, it was our daughter’s birthday and she was more important than our desire to make a scene. It seems wrong to me, to give us one check, and then when we present a coupon, bring us another check for almost 50% more than the first check, Even if it was a genuine mistake on their part, it could have been communicated without condescending to my husband in front of his daughter on her birthday.
I am very disappointed in the service we received. Half way through our time there it really felt like the staff just sort of gave up. I literally live right across the street from the restaurant, I can see their sign from my balcony, and yet I just cannot see us ever going back there after what happened last night.

What a wonderful place. Found Sergio’s on the Internet and thought we’d take a chance. We all have it two thumbs up. The Veal, chicken, and salmon dishes were all outstanding. Our waiter, Franchesco, couldn’t have been better. Great service, great food, great experience. We’ll definitely return to Sergio’s the next time we’re in Vegas.

We were spending one night in Las Vegas on the way home from a trip through the Utah National Parks. Eight days on the road in tourist towns eating in he kind of restaurants found their left us craving a good meal. We chose Sergio’s due to its Unilocal ratings but since ratings on Italian restaurants can be deceiving bases on local perceptions of what is good (I.e. Local Georgians’ view vs. my NY upbringing) you never know.
Sergio’s exceeded my expectation. Reminded me of many of the high quality local Italian places I enjoyed when living in the Northeast. The wait staff was friendly and knowlegable. Great wines by the glass. My wife had Chicken Parmesan (all she ever orders in Italian Restaurants — makes her an expert). She said it was outstanding. I had Veal Francaise, recommended by our waiter, which was some of the best I’ve ever had.
Sergio’s was a great find. If your looking for good Italian in Las Vegas pass on all the «name» places in the big hotels and drive a few blocks to Sergio’s.

Winner winner winner. A hidden gem. It will definitely be on my list when I return to Vegas. Loved the piano man. Great atmosphere. Great for friends or romantic eve.

First time here but, not the last! This is a hidden Gem of Las Vegas! Everything was fresh and well presented. Carder will take care of you so well, you will think you are Family!

The meal was wonderful and pleasant be presented everything was fresh and very tasty. Caesar was an absolutely wonderful addition to this lunch in his service and courtesy this is the best Italian food I’ve had in Las Vegas

This is a good restaurant. Food tastes good but lacks a little creativity. Servers are very friendly. The restaurant has this old feeling to it, which is nice.

The linguini pescatore was nothing short of fantastic! The sourdough bread and pesto butter was a great start and delicious. We found this location through Unilocal and the reviews did not lie. We were so happy to take a trip off of the strip for what we were provided. It’s a beautiful restaurant with lovely people working.
The only reason I did not give it a five is because I had the feeling that we were keeping them from closing. We arrived at about 8:45pm and while the food did not take an overly long time to be prepared, we didn’t finish until around 10. We also had to wait for a cab back to the strip. They seemed like they were in a hurry and cleared our table the moment we finished with our glass, plate, fork, etc. While I appreciate their attention, it was just a little too much for me.
But once again, it was a great find off of the strip and the people working there were very helpful and friendly, especially Herb. He was our waiter and made sure we were taken care of.

This place is delicious and authentic! You wouldn’t know it’s here one of Vegas’s hidden gem!!! Must try if you can appreciate real food. Herb is an excellent waiter and pianist!

The linguine fra diavolo! Herb makes a n incredible experience. Take the trip off the strip to fall in love with food again.

The Service was wonderful & the food was fabulous. The restrooms were spotless. It was a delightful change of atmosphere from the hectic, loud and overcrowded strip! We had the seafood linguine pescatore, calamari with pasta & linguine with white clam sauce.

Had the lamb shank which was good. However the pasta just wasn’t to my liking. The atmosphere was wonderful. Will be back to try a different dish.

My significant other hit a jackpot, so she wanted to treat our traveling party to dinner. This was our friend’s choice as it was recommended to him. One of the worst experiences and the reason my significant other hates Italian food. The sauce was bland, pasta overcooked and the service was poor. The cheese seemed not to be real, the only thing worth while was the bread and olive oil. I will say the bruchetta was good, but the antipasti left something to be desired

A diamond in the rough. Sergio’s is a bit off the beaten path (i.e. not on the strip), but I’m sure locals know this place! My wife and I went there for a late lunch, and were pleasantly surprised by the food and service. It was some of the freshest pasta we’ve ever had, and with generous portion sizes. If you’re looking for a quality Italian meal that won’t drain your bank account, give Sergio’s a try!

Sergio’s is a real hidden gem here in Las Vegas that has been here for many years. It’s very quiet, cozy, and leaves you wanting more. This was actually the first date I had with my wife.
Appetizers:
Ordered meatballs, bruschetta, and caprese salad. All of them were excellent and the bruschetta is probably by far the most authentic and BEST I have ever tasted before. Definitely get your bang for your buck.
Entrée:
I had lasagna and my wife had chicken picatta. Both were delicious and the lasagna just melts in your mouth with all of those rich European flavors. Everything was just excellent.
Service:
There were three servers helping each other at all of the tables and were very good and attentive. Would highly recommend Sergio’s for the real Las Vegas authentic restaurants not at some casino where you have to waste time looking everywhere as if you’re in the Amazon looking for a nice restaurant. Conveniently located off Tropicana and Maryland Parkway.

I frequent Las Vegas quite often. When I go now, I look to go off strip and try something new. That is why I decided to try out Sergio’s.
First, the wait staff is amazing. They are very attentive. Moreover, they are knowledgeable about the food and can make excellent suggestions.
The food was excellent. The calamari was perfect. It was well cooked and light. The pesto butter complements it well. Of course, we had the osso bucco. It is definitely worth the hype. It was smooth and melted like butter.

It was Valentine’s Day, so a special menu was served. And, it featured some fine choices.
As reported by others, the Calamari Fritti was first rate – light, neither rubbery nor tough, and served with great Pesto Butter. Spicy Bruschetta with diced tomatoes was also excellent, followed by a very good Minestrone Soup with fresh slices of potato and grated Parmesan Cheese obtained on request. Along with good complimentary crusty bread, these starters were followed by a topnotch Buffalo Mozzarella Caprese Salad, which was the best I have ever experienced to date, featuring ceramy Mozzarella and tomatoes on a bed of fresh organic field greens.
As my main, an excellent 4-​sheet-​high and cheesy Lasagna with mild-​tasting Meat Sauce sufficed nicely. What impressed me the most was spot on seasoning applied in the kitchen to all dishes ordered.
Live piano music added to the garden-​like, all table (no booths) setting. But there was one discordant note. Diane’s Veal Alfredo had to be returned to put cheese on top, and the Alfredo Sauce melted and became deconstructed in the process. She was given extra sauce, but it took awhile. Service tended to be slow after initial orders were taken.
Everything considered, my meal was quite enjoyable end to end.
