Show Bus of the Stars

I don’t know why no one has reviewed this before, especially if you have seen the Legends in Concert show.
This is a double decker tour bus that travels a circuit up and down the strip and may be the only live moving show on a vehicle in Vegas (aside from the holiday parades downtown maybe). But you get to be ON this vehicle.
The Producer of the tour is John Stuart, which is of importance because he popularized Impersonation shows in Vegas and created the Legends in Concert show. Its the longest running tribute show, first at Imperial Palace for something like 25+ years before it relocated to Harrah’s.
I had to confirm the booking and it’s not like me to not remember the friendly lady’s name at the booking office. I did write it down, ALWAYS write the name of anyone and everyone you talk to on the phone for customer service. I have been screwed so many times, if it’s things like cell phone service, or unemployment, I want to know where they are, operating number, just about everything I can find out. They just transfer you and no one at the company can ever find them again of course. She gave me no reason to doubt our booking. Normally, they have 4 tour/​shows scheduled every day (depending on demand):10:00AM (warning, hot summer days), 7:00PM, 9:00PM and 11:00PM. The later the better, I’d recommend for summer.
The Celebrity Impersonators are from Legends in Concert, there may be some that are not? I believe you can request a star, but for the most part they are on a schedule. If you want someone in particular, you have to find out if/​when they are on and then it’s first come, first booked. They have an Elvis, Marilyn, Cher, Prince, Tina Turner, Kenny Rogers, Elton John, Reba MacIntyre, Little Richard, Jay Leno (does he sing on the tour??), Tim McGraw, Elton John and a few others.
We waited at the bus in what used to be Aladdin’s Desert Passage. It’s now the Miracle Mile Mall in all its detheming plain-​ness. We waited between the Todai and Pampas restaurants, there’s a sign indicating that it was the right place. I have been to both restaurants previously, but those are other reviews.
We went out to the bus and it was clean, we all sat on the upper deck. We took the tour when it was slower in the off season. In the summer it apparently gets so packed, the tour/​shows are co-​hosted with a celebrity impersonator on each of the upper and lower inside decks.
We booked with whoever was on and we got Rod Stewart. Everyone got cozy on the upper level. It was a little cold– for Vegas– and there were vents that helped with the temp. They turned on the heater, which I think was a nice surprise. Everyone takes A.C. into consideration in Vegas, not the heater. None of the hotel pools have heaters in them. It was a convenience we noticed and appreciated.
We rode north to Stratosphere, and it was funny because the driver was in the center lane in what must have been idle speed blocking everyone behind us and they had to go around. The first thing that Rod did that was cool was basically ask the group what they wanted primarily: to be a tour guide, to answer questions or to sing? He did plenty of all 3. Rod was a great performer and take into account he’s walking around a moving vehicle. He answered questions aside from performing songs played thru a sound system on the bus. We were one of the couples on the bus and he took the time to talk to couples and sing romantic songs. He sang a lot of Rod Stewart songs, even requests. One exception he made that we approved was singing an Elvis number (guess which?) when we passed the Bellagio fountains.
At Stratosphere, we actually stopped off and they allowed us to get snacks or something to drink (wink) and bring back on the bus and this was a group that understood to be respectable and clean up after ourselves after. I imagine with summer mobs thye’d have to be more strict.
As a local, we thought it was a GREAT date night out. It was one of the greatest nights out of many we had. It was a very unique experience, the performer was professional, accessible, just great! Everyone on the tour/​show enjoyed themselves and would do it again. We didn’t want it to end.
