Starlight Tattoo

Stopped by and got a tattoo here when we were just passing by. I’ve wanted to get one for a long time. So happy with the results! Matt did an amazing job! What a great souvenir to remember my awesome Vegas trip! Much better than putting my money in a slot machine.

I got my first tattoo here about a year and a half ago. Definitely was expensive, but it’s Vegas and Mandalay Bay. I got a simple, small hip tattoo but the detail is beautiful and so well done. I don’t regret the $ 200 I paid for it. I love the tattoo so much. I can’t remember the artist’s name, but it was a short gentleman and he was very nice and did a spectacular job!

Very clean shop, this is what drew me in. Yes, the price was high, but I’m happy with my tattoo. JOE was my artist, and was very nice. I will get another tattoo here,

The piercer, Shawn, is awesome. Super professional, knowledgeable, and makes his customers comfortable. The rest of the staff was kinda confused and not super helpful. They were flicking pennies at eachother and could not figure out how to make the computer print the waivers we needed to sign. Guess business is slow… But the piercer was awesome. The place was clean and this guy really knew his stuff.

I got my left tragus pierced here in Aug 2013. I think a guy named Mike did it — he was great! He put a corkscrew type earring in and it fit really well and looked cute. It eventually fell out over a year later, but that was probably my fault because it wasn’t screwed in all the way and I was jogging with earbuds in. Mike seemed very knowledgable and friendly. I got my right tragus done here August 2014. A different guy did it all wrong. I had constant problems with the earring being too loose and coming out all the time. I finally just got it replaced in LA and the piercer said it wasn’t done in the right spot. Both times cost me over $ 250! If I had known I would have gone to a better piercing place in LA. If you are from LA, go to Ink Monkey and see Thomas.

I LOVE AMY! She did my ear cartilage on one day, and two days later I went back to have my nose done. Both times she was EXCELLENT and I didn’t feel any pain. I would highly recommend her for anyone and everyone considering a piercing while visiting Las Vegas.

Did I pay more for my tattoo at Starlight than I would have somewhere else? No doubt! It’s a shop in Mandalay Bay! Would you expect any shops in there to have cheap stuff? No. So, yeah, if you’re looking for a bargain, go somewhere else.
Never having had a tattoo before, I wanted to have confidence that I was going to get a quality job. It looks fantastic!

Yeah. Just don’t. Expensive, rude. Imagine Mexico quality with New York prices. Artist (so called) mouthed off my wife under the needle. Get your permanent marks somewhere that has respect.

This is just for the business itself. I do love my tattoo.
This was my first tattoo (and now I am sure not my last). The art came out fantastic. As others have stated the prices here are out if control. Also they do NOT honor their 50 dollar off Unilocal coupon. I was paying for two tattoos (which they asked me to ring up on to separate transactions). Not a problem. I got done and checked in. I showed him the 50 bucks off and he said yeah I had to spend more than 500 dollars. Nowhere does it say that. He even had the guts to say, «see where it says that». I let it go as I had no other option. As a note I spent a little over 700 bucks.
The tattoo artist did an excellent job but had no desire the make this a fun experience for either one of us. Kind of sucks when you are paying more than you should.
As a side note, I am okay with the higher prices to a degree. I do know you get what you pay for and it is right next to the House of Blues. I have always been that punk that would pass the place and think, is today the day?
Well, I have my first tattoo now and now I am armed with what I am looking for in a tattoo parlor and tattoo artist. I just wish I had this awesome story to go with something that is now permanently stuck on my body.

I had my first tattoo, a large piece, done here. I am so pleased with the results, it’s absolutely beautiful. Jericho is an amazing artist. Yes, it was very expensive, but a bagain basement tattoo was not what I was looking for. The staff was great and the environment was very clean. I would have no issues recommending Starlight Tattoo.

Let me explain. First Friday of May. 10 pm. Plenty of workers, no customers. No wonder this place is clean.
BF wanted to get a dia de los muertos style cross on his forearm. Price quote: $ 900.
2 hours later, price is now $ 1100. If I get a small, plain cross on my wrist its $ 1200 for both of us. Otherwise said cross is $ 300.
Are you kidding me? $ 300 for a $ 25 job?
After 4 hours there, most of which was spent waiting for the sales girl (not an artist) to design the BF’s creation (cross with 2 roses blooms & squiggly swirls) and more haggling over price (which has reverted back to $ 900), we leave.
While we were there another couple came in wanting an elaborate ⁹⁄₁₁ tat… yeah that was $ 1100.
Their pitch: its art. Ya can’t put a price on art. Well, you can put a price on common sense… this place charges double and/​or triple than off strip shops.
During my time there, 4 hours… not one person occupied a chair. This place is a joke. They pay outrageous rent & try to make up for overcharging tats. I’m surprised this place is still open.

My first stop by was not great but I gave them another try later in the day and had a great experience. Helpful staff and artist. The artist was Jericho and he did an awesome tattoo for me. Yes, they charge a lot more than other places but they are in a classy hotel on the strip and I can say the work is really good. Location, location, location.

Beautiful tattoo shop & the piercer Mike is great. It is a high end tattoo shop (hence the location inside Mandalay Bay) so be prepared that the shop minimum is $ 175. But if your getting a tattoo & its going to be on your body for the REST of YOUR LIFE, why would you pay for the cheapest tattoo you could find on the strip?
Just my opinion, but would you rather go to a doctor who is amazing at what he does & pay extra knowing your getting top notch work, OR a poor quality doctor down in Mexico who charges a quarter of the price?
Great clothing, jewelry, & atmosphere. It is conveniently located when you exit the tram from the Luxor on your right hand side :) Check this shop out for yourself, I really enjoyed it.

Walked in, no one asked if I needed anything even as I waited patiently at the front desk. They have a graph to tell you how much everything will cost, without even knowing what it is you want. Their shop minimum is $ 175 for a dime size tattoo. Their work is nice, but my overall impression is they are unwelcoming and overpriced.

I totally agree w/​the unprofessional comments so far. I’ve gotten 10 Tats so far & this was by far the worst experience. Now, i realize they charged twice going rate going in & i didnt care cause i was doing well at casino that week. So i scheduled an appt to do ink that normally woulda cost $ 750 & agreed to $ 1500. $ is not an object when it comes to good work imo.
The following is the most unprofessional business practice i’ve ever heard of… They asked me for a deposit to hold appt. & said it had to be at least $ 100. I gave them $ 500 & they booked me for 8pm that night, which was a Thurs. I came back at 8pm to hear, «Sorry, artist is still busy, can we reschedule you for Friday at Noon? It should only take 4hrs». I say, «Sure, but it has to be completed tomorrow cause i fly out of Vegas Sat. @ 8am».
Next day I return at Noon & wait for an hr until the artist comes up to me & says, «Dude, i’m swamped today, can we reschedule again?». So I say, «Sorry, i gotta fly home tomorrow, i’ll just take my refund back, we’ll do it next time i’m in town.» Only to hear from 3 employees, «Oh, sorry, it says on your appt. receipt, No Refunds». I wont go into the hell that needed to be raised for an hr by my friend & i to finally get my $ back, but it was the angriest i’ve ever been in my life. It did teach me to never give anyone more than you need to, but at the cost of almost being arrested.
So, my advice is to stay away from this overpriced, unprofessional & disrespectful bunch of clowns at all cost, unless you want to lose a deposit for an appointment they may never keep for you. I’ve seen they do good work, but its not worth the stress.

This place is total bullshit. They wanted $ 300 for what should have been a $ 60 – 80 tattoo. They said their minimum charge is $ 200!?! The tattoo we wanted was so small, if that wasn’t their minimum charge, I couldn’t imagine what is.
If money is no object and you don’t care about getting ripped off, then come here. Otherwise there are better options close by. I’d recommend off the Strip.

Yikes, I didn’t even make it in to see the shop. Some very stoned sounding receptionist answered the phone when I called as if I had bothered her chat time with her boyfriend or something. She sounded 17.
I inquired about getting an appointment and their minimum. I usually would never frequent a rip-​off strip tattoo parlor but my Grandma really wants one when she’s in town, a tiny dime sized plain heart outline. No inside color or shading. We are talking a 15 minute tattoo, max, with setup and cleanup.
Ready for this? They quoted me $ 175 FUCKING DOLLARS. I understand you’re on the strip but if you want to charge those prices, maybe hire a receptionist that isnt a complete bitch. Obviously all their customers never had to deal with her.
Don’t blame me for not knowing tattoos. I have them and understand good art and you pay for quality. But for a simple tattoo like that I would expect maybe $ 75.
Waste of time.

If you want a tattoo that’s good and reasonably priced, don’t go here! I went to this place to get quoted on some simple script. I was greeted by some obese, bro-​ish, crappy tattooed dude that quoted the tattoo for $ 4-​$ 600. haha
This guy’s book was crap. The shop was lame (no vibe, no culture, just Las Vegas
cheeseball, TV show crap), and the guy was a rude jerk.
I later got the tattoo bigger than I asked him for, and it looks sick for $ 150.

Finally had the urge to get my last name tattooed at the same time I was walking by a parlor with someone who encouraged the idea.
Walked in and chatted with a couple artists in order to get a quote. The quote was a little sobering (not a bad thing while in Vegas) but i figured I would never get tatted.
While the high price hurt my wallet (to be expected from any shop on a strip hotel casino floor), it keeps the line short so I laid down and the artist got right to work. Pleasant small talk during the hour-​ish long process, reminded me of going to my family dentist without the mouth full of fingers and hardware so the friendly banter was welcomed.
The tat looks immaculate and would recommend anyone with the money/​time/​opportunity to get your next tat from these obvious professionals.

I recently went to Starlight in Las Vegas and had the pleasure to have Chad as my artist. The staff was terrific and knowledgable. My tattoo came out perfect in every way. I cannot say enough about them.
