Specialties
Streetcar Po-boys is a restaurant dedicated to bringing a taste of New Orleans to Las Vegas. We specialize in authentic NOLA style po-boy sandwiches and beignets, as well as other southern specialties such as King Cakes and Café Au Lait.
History
Established in 2013.
In the mid-1910’s, Bennie and Clovis Martin relocated from Raceland, Louisiana to New Orleans to work as streetcar conductors. After a few years in the field, the brothers opened the Martin Brothers’ Coffee Stand and Restaurant in the French Quarters. After contractual negotiations throughout the nation became heated in 1929 jeopardizing over 1,100 jobs and the standing of the carmen’s union, streetcar motormen and conductors decided to fight back — leading to one of the most devastating strikes in the history of the nation. The brothers sympathized deeply with the plight of the strikers and decided to give back to the community that they had come to know and love and thus, the po-boy sandwich was born.
The New Streetcar Po-Boys of Las Vegas was started in Dec. 2013 by New Orleans native Gwen Bartholomew and her family. We specialize in NOLA style po-boy sandwiches and beignets and we strive to bring Southern Hospitality to Sin City as well as give back to charitable causes.
