Summerlin Dental

All I want for Christmas is my four front teeth!
I’ve been coming to Summerlin Dental on and off since I moved here in 93′. The reason I say off is not because I went somewhere else, oh no that would have been too reasonable. There was a time in my teenage years where I was stubborn and thought I didn’t need to go to the dentist regularly. I avoided it like the plague. Let’s just say by the time I did actually go back, I had cavities o’ plenty. Lesson learned!
When I was younger I used to see Dr. Murray, but he has since moved on or possibly retired. Dr. Welebir is my new dentist and he literally changed my life. I used to have four ugly front teeth. Two of them were gap buck teeth, and were crooked and chipped, and the other two were like vampire fangs, no lie. I was very self conscious of my teeth so I would never smile in pictures or anything. They were really bad and I really really really hated them. In 2011 Dr. Welebir told me I was an excellent candidate for porcelain veneers, and so my transformation began.
Dr. Welebir and his staff were amazing and really made me feel comfortable through a somewhat uncomfortable process. It took a few visits to get everything completed. First they had to grind my old teeth down to little nubs in order to fit the veneers. This didn’t hurt, but it just felt weird. After that, I was then given a temporary cap for my teeth while the actual veneers were being molded in a lab. This sucked because my teeth were pretty much exposed and verrrrry sensitive. The wind would blow and my teeth would hurt! But beauty is pain ya’ll, and a couple weeks later I got my permanent teeth put on and I couldn’t be happier. I now smile frequently and invite people to take a picture of me, whereas before I would hide in embarrassment. This was the best decision of my life to date even though it was super expensive. I did have insurance, but they only paid some and I did have to pay a hefty chunk out of pocket. Regardless of that, I wouldn’t change it for anything.

I used to go here and see Dr. Murray for dental check ups and cleanings. I was pleased with my dental visits until I went and found Dr. Murray was no longer working there. The staff had changed and my favorite hygienist had left as well.
The new staff were not as pleasant and I suddenly had a lot of work that needed to be done with my teeth.
I switched dentists and like I thought my mouth was fine.

This dental office was quick, organized, and fully informed about medical coverages and billing codes. The staff is incredibly attentive and poised, this is truly an amazing staff. In addition, they do great, in-​depth work. So pleased with my experience at Summerlin Dental!

My experience here was very very poor. Here is why:
With Summerlin Dental’s office near my own in Tivoli I decided to go in for X-​rays and an exam. The fee was $ 183. I walked out with a recommendation for 6 fillings and 1 crown at a cost of $ 3000.00. Feeling their diagnosis was so unusual for me, I went elsewhere to another dentist office for a second independent opinion and made sure not to tell the second dentist about the results offered by Summerlin Dental so as not to influence the results.
The second dentist, who has over a decade or more in dentistry, amazingly found zero cavities with no need for either fillings nor a crown. Stunned, at the huge disparity in results I called Summerlin Dental back, cancelled my future appointments and asked for a refund of my $ 183. Lacking an office manager I spoke with their billing person Diana who basically said that these x-​rays and exams are just a matter of opinion and so they wouldn’t refund my money.
Just as surprising the person I spoke with at Summerlin Dental seemed absolutely un-​phased by my telling of what had happened in their office… that results were so very different… and that they had a very unhappy patron of their business. Who knows? Maybe this type of thing happens at Summerlin Dental all the time? I don’t know, but where I come from we call this type of treatment a scam.
I’d recommend against Summerlin Dental.

The receptionist was very nice, but the insurance person was discourteous, patronizing, and unprofessional in handling an insurance issue regarding a consultation. There are plenty of good dentists in Las Vegas, and none worth going to if the staff mistreats the patient before he/​she even makes it through the door. On a side note, the fee for a consultation is $ 190 and includes a «full mouth visual exam» and sit down with the dentist. The fee is out-​of-​pocket or billed to your insurance. There are also plenty of good dentists in town that will not charge for a sit down and visual exam.

I would just like to say. Summerlin Dental is awesome! It’s located in Tivoli Village, a very beautiful location. Office is brand new and the top of line equipment. Along with the best staff and doctors! The minute you walk in, you are greeted by a smiling face that makes the visit to the dentist much tolerable and just very welcoming. Everyone knows your name basis. The clinical staff are the best. so gentle and such great personalities. And talk about great doctors. The best bedside manners! Informative, caring and such gentle hands! I highly recommend this dental practice! You will not regret it!!!
