VCA Spring Mountain Animal Hospital

We just adopted a Chihuahua from the pound. They have a partnership with VCA and did a free check up on him. We got checked by Dr. Wallace and he was great. He and the vet tech had a great report with our boy, they didn’t just grab him but waited until he was calm enough to go along with it. And he didn’t just look at him and dismiss us, he made sure we had all the information we would need.
He went over what kind of food to feed him, how much to feed him, when to feed him, what things we should be concerned with for his breed, and things we shouldn’t be concerned about because of our climate. He talked about if we decided to travel with him in the future, or if we wanted to take him hiking or another out door activity. He talked about bathing him and what to use and even about his nails and teeth. Most of these things we wouldn’t have even thought to ask but he was genuinely happy we adopted an animal and wanted to tell us how to take care of him.
Our pup did have some issues with his teeth that we saw before we adopted him. We asked for a quote to resolve them and he gave us one, but he also explained why on each line item and advised we shop around but if we did shop around to compare the line items because some vets will cut these specific items to make it cheaper and it could be very bad for our boy.
We did end up getting them resolved about a week later and they were great. My boyfriend was so nervous he called twice to check on him during the process and they were kind on the phone. Special shout out to Andrew who helped us every time we were there and is extremely nice. Finally we had a concern with the medication he was on after getting his teeth fixed, we called and Dr. Knightly called us back and went over all of our concerns and explained everything thoroughly. I Honestly couldn’t rave enough about my experience with this vet, Dr Wallace, all the vet techs, Andrew at the front counter, and Dr knightly were really above and beyond.

Dr. Knighton has always been a very warm and welcoming presence when we arrive. We almost continue conversations we had from a year before, he’s that good at remembering his patients. No matter what our dog has, shots or temperature taking, she never feels threatened by him. This is our 4^th annual visit there, and are very glad he’s been there every time.

I just recently adopted my kitten Grim-​Lynn and my wife and I brought him to this VCA Animal Hospital for his check up. I wasn’t able to take him to his first check up but my wife was very pleased by how friendly they were. Our kitten had a fever and was sneezing a lot so they prescribed him an antibiotic. And were very informative explaining everything to her.
After a few days of giving him the antibiotics I was concerned he might be getting worse, I called the VCA and asked if there was anything else I could to help Grim. They put the vet Dr. On the phone and he personally helped me out. Which made me feel a whole lot better. He was super nice and explained to me that he was fine and that as long as he wasn’t losing his appetite or unable to go to the bath room he would be fine. Thank the gods he was fine in that department. Grim just has a virus that it would just have to run it’s course. — poor little guy he sounds like he’s in agony when he’s sneezing …
But What I really liked about this place was that they even called to check on our kitten. Shows they really care.

Dr. Knighton is a wonderful and caring veterinarian. Most places do not spend the quality time that he does with his clients and pets. I am thankful to have found him.

Dr. Knighton is thee’ best! I’ll continue to take my babies to him! He made us feel so comfortable & he is BEYOND CLEAR with his information! I appreciate his love and real caring for our pets health! Thank you VCA!

Dr. Knighton and Dr. Wallace are both great. They take great care to explain everything and make you feel comfortable and confident. Because they don’t take appointments, you may wait a while, but no longer than I wait to see my own doctor with an appointment. They are very good about returning phone calls too.

This morning 7÷18÷15 I went to take my jack Russell for updated shots. Mind you I haven’t been here since 2012, I normally go to another vet but I happened to be in the area and wanted to knock the task at hand out. IN MY OPINION… Everything was fine at first, the girl at the front desk, Jennifer was accommodating. Took us in as a walk in, as it states the do on the wall. She contacted our current vet to verify what shots were needed. So that was the my request was to have that done. Also that I had one question regarding my dog itching lately for whomever could answer. At NO point in our interaction did Jennifer advise me or make it known of pricing for our visit. She simply took his weight down, & placed us in a room. The doctor was very nice, & and he offered a lot of information on his own part. So we got done. Went to check out and rang up a huge bill. I was under the impression that I was only going to be charged for shots. She claimed that the examination fee is standard & was like Ninety something dollars. She never communicated this to me. There are no signs or acknowledgements posted, nor have I ever signed anything agreeing to those terms of arrangements. Long story short she kept me waiting, continued to argue about it, contacted the doctor, manager, tried to get me to sign a damn promissory note. I ended up having to get on the phone with the manager my damn self and basically have a legal argument with her. So I paid for the shots in the end and left. I will NEVER. Come back here nor recommend my family or friends or coworkers. The girl Jennifer at the end had a huge attitude and ended up getting VERY VERY DEFENSIVE AND AGGRESSIVE towards me. … Thanks for the visit VCA!!!

The doctors here are very professional, however the staff always seems harried. There is always a long wait whether it’s in the waiting area or an exam room. The staff is not good at updating status either. I think the doctors do a great job, it just takes too long to see them.

I’ve been taking my cats here since I got them. The staff always coos over them and are so so nice. I never have to wait long, but if I did, there is a tv in the lobby. Dr. Knighton is such an animal lover and is good at what he does. Ask him anything and he will tell you what you need to know. It’s a calm environment so my cats aren’t freaking out. If I have to, I can drop them off in the morning and pick them back up after work. Their hours are perfect for a working woman — plus, they’re open 7 days a week. I have vets closer to my house, but this one is worth the drive.

The only reason I am giving 2 stars instead of 1 star was because of Dr. Wallace, the kind veterinarian who provided a booster shot for my kitten and the gentleman who assisted me over the phone. I wanted to only give 1 star was because of Sabrina, the lady who worked the front check-​in counter.
I called VCA Spring Mountain on my way home from work earlier this month and a male answered the phone. I asked him if I had to make an appointment or if I could just come by that evening for a booster shot for my kitten. He said walk ins were welcome and informed me of the costs. He also let me know if I was able to make it there before 4pm I would receive 50% off. Unfortunately it was 3:30pm when I called and I still had to go home to pick up my kitten so I wouldn’t be able to make it by then. I thanked him for the information and told him I’d be coming by in an hour with my kitten.
Once I arrived to VCA, I went to the counter at the front and signed in. About 5 minutes later, Sabrina who was working the desk, asked what I needed. I began to explain that I needed my kitten to receive his second booster shot as he got his first when I adopted him from the Animal Foundation. In the middle of my sentence, she interrupted me abruptly, stating that I had to make an appointment for that and they are booked for the day. I let her know I called earlier and spoke to a male and she once again interrupted me, stating that was not at all possible as she was the only one working that day and answering calls. I was speechless as I thought she was calling me a liar… she then proceeded to accuse me of calling the wrong VCA, stating something along the lines of «You should check the number you called because it was not here.» During this entire interaction, she was talking to me with a smirk on her face and in a tone that was very condescending, as if she was talking down to me. Finally, a gentleman next to her spoke up and asked, «you were here for the booster shot, right?» and Sabrina looked surprised, then scolded him for not telling her that he took a call. She then completely changed her attitude and attempted to assist me.
I was furious because I have never felt so disrespected in a public area (there were other customers sitting there waiting) where I am supposed to receive customer service. I am disgusted by her rude attitude. I work in customer service myself and honestly believe someone like that should not work in an environment where there is interaction with ANY customers or clients. Sabrina needs a complete attitude change and some coaching because if you keep treating customers like that, they will find a different vet for their pets.

My boyfriend & I adopted a kitten & she unfortunately turned out to be really sick & had ringworm (scary, I know)! Dr. Wallace made everything better, he accommodated our busy schedules, walked us through step by step through our kittens healing process & went out of his way to help us. Our kitten is now 100% healthy & we honestly couldn’t have done it w/​out Dr.Wallace. Thank you so much.

All I have to say a wow. The staff is great but don’t ever visit with dc Wales. He’s rude and out of line. I took my cat in and after I picked her up I had some questions on the charges. He proceeded to explain to me the wrong things then called me a lier after I told him I have no idea what he was taking about. Then he remembers that what he said wasn’t the right thing. Then says sorry, that he had a long day, I tell him I understand he had a long day but he still shouldn’t speak to people that way, he turns around and says «if I don’t like the way he speaks to me that I shouldn’t come back there» wow.

Dr. Wallace!!! YOU ARE THE BEST VETERINARIAN EVER!!!
My cat got out and was attacked by a neighborhood cat and I could tell he wasn’t doing so hot. So I brought him to All About Cats and they didn’t even check his wound… they wanted to do some kind of EXPENSIVE surgery on his bladder (he’s only 3 years old and only eats the BEST organic grain food money can buy)…I decided on taking him to VCA Animal Hospital… and they helped me treat his INFECTION!!! He had a FEVER and had a huge PUSS filled wound on his butt… they had to do an inexpensive surgery to clean it out, and they gave me everything i needed to continue to clean it. Dr. Wallace even gave me LESS EXPENSIVE options if I couldn’t afford surgery!!! The doctors at VCA Animal clinic actually cared about my cat, and weren’t trying to charge me an ARM AND A LEG to treat my cat for some CRAZY ASSUMPTION!!!
ALWAYS GET A SECOND OPINION!!! I’m SURE GLAD I did!!!

Dr. Knighton and the staff are amazing. I brought my doggie there because she was ill. They gave her the best care and at such affordable rates. My doggie is doing fine and has been back to get up to date in her vaccines.
Highly recommend them because I feel they truly care about the health and well being of the pets they treat. They treated my senior dog with care and gentleness.

We’ve been patients here for 15 years. We started coming here when we bought our first puppy on a recommendation from that breeder.
We have lost our oldest dog, but still bring our other two dogs and we also brought our two litters of puppies here for care.
We now live on the other aide of town and still make the drive just because the drs here are so fantastic.
The staff is very helpful and friendly and always explains everything and gives us different treatment options.
I wouldn’t even think about trying anyone else.

I came here for my two puppies vaccine and they give you a free first check up for up to 3 different animals! The veterinarian answered all my questions clearly and they even narrate exactly what they’re doing to my pets so I can stay calm. The only downside is the lobby, it’s quite uncomfortable and there’s just one small TV facing the front desk.

Always an hour wait. My cats would get sick every time after coming home from here. They are strictly indoor cats. Also way over priced even on the half off days.

Once again, Dr. Knighton to the rescue. Our kitty developed what looked like a possible blockage in his urinary tract (google diagnoses ninjas). Anyhow, we took him to the emergency vet hospital at 2 in the am at Pecos and Patrick. No surprise, they wanted $ 2557.00 to treat him. Never been robbed, but this felt awfully close.
So we opted for the number #3 which was antibiotics/​pain killers and got the hell out.
The next morning, Dr. Knighton and staff are in tune with my panic and promptly whisked him in at 7am. Gives me a few options and kindly tells me to wait for labs before we take any further action. Luckily, Kiddie has a bladder infection and with some meds and rest he’ll be just fine. Costing me less than $ 400 to get him treated. Plus, I received two calls from Dr. Knighton within two days. Bonus ending. Early morning Ronald Donuts run after VCA.

I came here because my new puppy got diarrhea and had a pink tone to his droppings and was completely drained of energy.
I came in a little after they opened and was taken right away. The veterinarian who helped us was very helpful and genuinely cared for my puppy. He was not pushy or quick to get us out the door like some vets I’ve experienced. he held him and comforted him as well. My puppy ended up getting a parvo test, thank goodness that was negative!, and was prescribed some medicine before we headed home. Two days later my puppy still had diarrhea so we called in to ask about the medicine and what we should do and they let us speak with another vet over the phone. We told him what was going on and the medicine we had and he gave us some helpful advice and answered all our questions without is having to drive there or pay for another exam. I really appreciated that he took some time to actually speak with us over the phone.
Overall, I am very pleased with the hospital. If I ever have an emergency or need to see a vet, I’ll be sure to take my pets here.

New cat from the animal shelter and we could get a free check up at VCA hospitals. I dropped in with the new one, Haule, and had a check up. I had been told he was about five months old, but the Vet told me he was a little bit younger based on his teeth.
He was in good health and they encouraged a booster vaccine, free as well, in two weeks. So I knew I would be back. There are no appointments, just walk in, their hours are long and seven days a week including Sunday’s. The staff were friendly and prompt. I have used the VCA hospital system in Hawaii after my Vet retired and he recommended it, but when we moved to Las Vegas, I went to a couple of different animal hospitals. I am very fond of Durango Animal clinic, but VCA on Spring Mountian is an excellent backup!
