YEE: What’s A Gelato With You?

Another fun and informative Unilocal Elite Event. This event took place at Downtown Summerlin at the fairly new Gelato Messina. This was my second time to Gelato Messina and it definitely didn’t disappoint me at all.
The event was small and short, but was enjoyed by all that attended. After signing in, we went in line to get our free coffee drink. Being a hot day, I decided to have the ice coffee with cream, no sugar. While we were drinking our coffees, we were given a background of Gelato Messina by one of the employees named Rex. He took the time to answer questions about the company and gelato before we were given samples of the bread pudding that was going to be put into the Bread Pudding gelato that was inspired by Carson Kitchen. Not a big fan of bread pudding, but I must say the bread pudding gelato was good!
We got to view how they make the gelato through the glass window. While one of the other employees (sorry I can’t remember her name) explained to use the process of how they make the different kinds of gelato. Interesting that Gelato is made of whole milk and not cream, making it a healthier version of Ice cream. We were also privileged to be able to see how a Baked Alaska Gelato cake was made. What an interesting and fun thing to watch. I’m always fascinated watching how food is made.
During our Event, we were offered samples of any of the Gelato they had there on display. I sampled the Salted Coconut Mango, a definite favorite of mine. They had so many different kinds to try as well as some sorbet flavors. They have weekly specials that are all very unique with some interesting combinations, like Bacon Gelato! Close to the end of the event, we were given special gelato bars that were made just for our event. They had Curdish Delight, a salted caramel gelato bar with orange curd, buttery biscuit crumbs and The Bounty Hunter bar, made of layers of coconut gelato, passion fruit jelly and lychee mousse. Covered in chocolate and desiccated coconut. Both were yummy, but a bit too sweet for me.
Thumbs up to another great Unilocal elite event! Thanks to Nate and Tiffany along with the amazing and friendly staff of Gelato Messina for a wonderful experience!

Twas a very casual and fun event. The service was great all around, starting from the coffee (hot or iced), to sampling various gelato flavors, and watching the lovely Heather demonstrate and explain certain processes to gelato-​making and gelato cake-​making.
The coffee was decent and the employees took time to make sure everyone got some! Had to wait for the flat white to cool down a bit though.
Of the gelato flavors I tried, the Italian Nougat, Salted Coconut Mango, and Pear Rhubarb stuck out to me the most. They were very well balanced in flavor aka NOT TOO SWEET! The Italian Nougat was nice and milky and had lots of nutty crunch to it. I’m craving some right now!
On a side note, I did not know gelato was made with whole milk instead of cream, making it healthier than regular ice cream… I always thought gelato was less healthy! The more you know~. I also like that they collaborated with Carson Kitchen to create the bread pudding gelato. It tasted divine.
At the end of the event, we were given these chocolate bars with gelato in them (exclusively just for the YEE). Mine had salted caramel and was AMAZING. The chocolate on the outside got to be too much for me, though. Too bad these aren’t sold regularly.
We also welcomed the new elites with stickers and cute framed pictures! (I wish I had something like that too!) All in all it was a great experience, made extra special by the charming and passionate employees.

Gelato! I love me some gelato! Especially when it’s interesting and unique gelato that incorporates things like bacon, whiskey, and spicy rhubarb. While this event was small and short, it was a definite treat.
We got to learn about Gelato Messina and their history. We got to try out their coffee. We got to watch gelato being made. We got to sample some bread pudding gelato inspired by Carson Kitchen. We got to pick a flavor and get a scoop of it (so hard to choose!). We got to watch a Baked Alaska gelato cake being made. Gelato cake! (Someone seriously needs to get me one of these for my birthday.) We got to snack on a gelato bar. (Like an ice cream bar, but made with gelato.) Um, yeah, it was total yum. Yum!
So much good gelato! Staff were friendly and engaging. Cool to meet some new Unilocal Elites. All in all, another great event and another new place discovered!

I really enjoyed our «What’s a Gelato With You?» event at Gelato Messina on Wednesday evening. Our hosts at Gelato Messina US were so pleasant and they answered many questions I had with the process of making gelato.
The evening started with Nate informing us to get in line and get some coffee. Rex, one of the Gelato Messina employees suggested to me that I might want to try a flat white. Kelly, one of Gelato Messina’s super friendly employees, was soon making the coffee drink for me and it was fantastic.
As I was sipping the coffee, Rex was introduced and he spoke to us about gelato and answered questions about why it’s different from ice cream and other things.
We watched through the glass as Gelato Messina employees extracted gelato from the machine mixing it with bread pudding cubes and squeezing some caramel sauce over the both and then continuing the fill the bowl that way. Last, we were brought ice cream bars specially made for our event. They were cold and very tasty.
While enjoying our treats, I had the chance to ask some of the other Gelato Messina employees some other questions I had about the gelato making process. They’re really friendly folks and they were more than happy to share their knowledge with me.
It was great to see so many first time people including Brian and Alexa. Sorry for the rest that I don’t remember names well.
As with Unilocal events, there was a table of SWAG at the entrance to the shop and Nate and Tiffany did a wonderful job organizing and carrying out this event. Thanks for yet another fine Unilocal Elite Event. Many thanks, too, go to Gelato Messina for hosting our group and providing us with some great treats!

JK, I hope I don’t offend anyone with that, it was a little joke because of the amount of sweets we consumed!
This event was hella awesome! Picture it, Las Vegas, 103 outside… what will help you? GELATO! Gelato Messina gelato to be exact! The folks here were kind enough to host this awesome Elite event, and I even got to bring my little triple OG Unilocaler son, Santiago! He’s been coming to events since I’ve been Unilocaling, so it was extra cool to bring him!
We were welcomed with our choice of delicious caffeine, I mean coffee. I had the cappuccino which was extra creamy and delicious. They use sugar in the raw, so keep that in mind! Santiago had a hot chocolate and the taste was spot on, hot drinks on a hot day? YAS QUEEN!
Next we were served a sample of the bread they use in the Carson Kitchen inspired gelato, Santiago particularly loved it! It was super tasty! Then came the actual gelato, which was rich and decadent! Santiago was given a scoop of cookie dough and he was quite enamored with it, I also liked the taste and he loved the large chips in the mix! We then mingled and were given samples of whatever we wanted to try, I had the Chillax Princess and it was definitely my favorite! At the end they gave us specially made for Unilocalers on ice cream bars! We had the Bounty Hunter and the Fully SIK Picnic bars, I especially loved the Bounty Hunter, the passion fruit in the middle was divine!
I feel horrible because I’m bad with names, but, the man was sooo nice and attentive, he was really engaged with Santiago and they even had a little convo whilst watching the awesome gelato cakes being made!
This event was overall one of my favorites! It just shows you don’t need booze to have fun ;) Not that I don’t like booze :)

Let me preface this by saying that im not much of coffee and gelato type of guy but im always up for trying new things. Brought my wifey as my +1 and she just happens to be a coffee and gelato enthusiast.
What makes this first time trip here is the very good company of other Unilocalers. Unilocal Elite Events are just that much better no matter the venue. I got to hang out with long time fellow elites as well as meeting first time Elite attendees. We made sure to recognize those people and tagged all three of them accordingly.
As for the event, we got to sample various coffees, gelatos, and even specially made gelato bars just for this event!
Our hosts were more than gracious to introduce us to the world of fine gelato and coffee. I found out that they are from Australia. That’s kind of a drive. Funny how none of them had an accent. I forgot everybody’s names so I apologize. We were allowed to watch them create the gelato from scratch along while answering questions from us Unilocalers. I found out more about gelato at this event than what I have known all my life.
Props goes out to Nate and Tiffany for always setting up wonderful events like this. I also wanted to thank you guys for setting up some of the fabulous Unilocal swag for us to take. I especially loved the Unilocal emergency battery to charge your phone if you get stuck in the middle of nowhere. That by far is coolest swag I have had the pleasure of receiving.
In closing, im grateful for the opportunity to attend this event. Havnt been to downtown Summerlin at all so this event just made it that much sweeter. Literally. If I never come back here, one thing I know for sure is that a great gelato place exists here.

SO MUCH FUN! I love how we can watch through the window and see what is going on. It probably makes the employees nervous but getting to see how things are made just makes the experience even better. Everything I got to try tasted amazing — the bread pudding, the carson city, the dulce de leche & tiramisu! I especially loved the limited edition gelato bar I had the salted caramel and it was unique and different. I’ll definitely be back when I’m craving some gelato on a nice hot summer day or evening :) Thanks Unilocal for having me!
