Horrible and expensive. Paid $ 4 for what was essentially broth in my small(massive understatement) Manhattan Clam Chowder, which I can’t be sure wasn’t just reheated Campbell’s soup. My Philly steak was $ 7 worth of underwhelming. I will not be returning.

Like the Bob & Ron’s of old, even better. Fish fry and clam rolls came in generous portions, cole slaw was just right, and the New England clam chowder was the best I’ve had outside of New England. It is a tight fit, but we came at 6 pm on Friday and had ample room.

Ordered fish, chips and coleslaw. Food was great and service very quick. I can’t wait to go back and try lobster roll.

My favorite fish fry in the area. They also have the best clam strips. It is always super clean. Oh and their French fries are my favorite fries from anywhere you will not be disappointed!!!

Excellent fish fry, clams and the best fries around. Seriously, these French fries are awesome. Everything is cooked perfectly. I recommend it highly over the other fish fry place around the corner.

In the former Papa John’s Pizzeria, this is a much smaller location than the original Bob & Ron’s which remains in business in Albany. Our 4 pm arrival on a Saturday turned out to be good timing. As we walked directly to the counter and placed our order, we thought it looked like the orders were backed up for the half-dozen or so parties that were already seated but waiting for their order number to be called out by the single counter-girl working. Our wait for food was no more than 10 minutes as we watched a continuous flow of new customers arrive and form a line between the tables and the service bar where you filled your soda cups, got your plastic forks and straws, and pumped your choice of condiments for your fish. See what I mean by small? The standard Fish Fry($ 4.40) was made with Cusk. For a slightly higher price(still less than $ 5) you could request Haddock. Each of my fish fries had a good amount of fish balanced on the hot dog style roll. The breading was crisp, not greasy, and had a nice flavor. My wife ordered a Cold Lobster Roll which was advertised as a special price($ 11.50) on the sandwich board sign as we entered. The regular price listed on the main menu above the order counter was more like $ 14 or $ 15. For the price, this was a decent lobster roll — crisp vegetables mixed with small pieces of lobster and mayonnaise. A half-pint of chocolate milk($ 1.10) and a Medium($ 1.65) cup for the self-serve fountain machine(they didn’t have anything smaller) which got filled with standard, fountain quality lemonade were our beverages of choice. The counter clerk was friendly and helpful as she and other staff, who suddenly appeared when the line of new customers formed, delivered our order to our table-for-two overlooking the intersection of Old Loudon Road and Troy Schenectady Road. Apparently, they are also offering some grilled fish dishes here including salmon. I’m sure we’ll return to try some of these.
