They have a very well informed staff. Lots of knowledge and can help with all sorts of computer needs. My experience was with virus removal. I explained the problem, they took it in no problem — offer 1 – 2 express service which I gladly paid a little extra for(3 – 5 business days regularly I was told) The price was super fair and they cleaned up my PCVERY well. Its running smoother than ever and they were super friendly during the process too with follow up phone calls along the way. Great experience, I will be using again.

Called ahead and asked how late they were open. They confirmed 8pm closing time, like it says on their website. Drove 40 minutes because the Delmar location can’t do macs. Arrived at 7:10 and lo and behold they are closed. If they aren’t knowledgeable enough to know their own hours why would anyone trust them with their computer?

Terrible!!! They quoted me a price, then charged me double. I contacted the«manager» and after several phone calls back and forth she said she would honor the original price she quoted me. She said she would refund my credit card. A month later I checked my credit card statement… No refund. I had to called back and after several phone calls I finally received my refund. Also, the problem they fixed for $ 120 started again about week after they fixed it. Not happy.

This place has some really good folks working here. Often times I’ve had friends and family mention that they need to take their computer to the Geek Squad for repair. After admonishing them for considering putting their computer into the vile hands of the generally-incompetent shitbirds at Geek Squad, Computer Renaissance is usually the place that I recommend. I don’t deal with them for service(at least not directly) because I don’t need to, but I do interact with their staff when I’m looking to purchase parts. From these interactions, I can safely say that unlike Geek Squad, these guys really know what they’re talking about. Not only are they very familiar with the more advanced and high-end solutions and products, but they’re also helpful when it comes to the more standard and common equipment. In other words, they’re not the place that’s going to pressure you into an upsell. They understand all facets of the industry well enough to recommend a solution that meets your needs, and they’re certainly proficient enough to trust your computer to for repair. I can go into this place and talk to them about components for the $ 5000 über workstation that I’m building, but also know that my completely computer-illiterate family member can go here and they won’t talk down to her or try to sell her something that she obviously doesn’t need. From my perspective, this is a great shop because they sell components and accessories that generally aren’t available as in-store items at competitors like Best Buy or Wal-Mart. If you’re looking for a less-common adapter cable of some sort, chances are that Computer Renaissance will have it in stock and at a decent price. Other places like Best Buy, Wal-Mart, or even online-only retailers like Amazon and NewEgg, will have the same parts, but will have to ship it to you… so you add a delay in receiving the item on top of potential shipping charges. Definitely give these guys a call first if you’re looking for something, because you may save yourself some time and some money.
