If the office were as good as the men doing the moves, I would rate this company much higher. The estimator, Daryl, tried to sell me on a flat charge based on his estimate of the weight. I thought he was way off. He was over about 25% over (and I suspect more, but I had no way to confirm it). I was told that insurance was included but found out after the fact that it wasn’t. I had no recourse, because the delivery crew won’t unload until after full payment is made. The delivery date was a week past what I was told.
I thought having a local company fronting for the interstate carrier would make things go smoothly, but it didn’t. I won’t use this company again.

Mabey’s moved our belongings and furniture from upstate NY to Florida a few days ago. Our job initiated with Riley Moving and Storage of Amsterdam and was passed on to Mabey’s, an Atlas associated firm, for the long haul portion of the move.
I can’t say enough good things about Walt, the Mabey driver or his crew. They were entirely professional and helpful beyond our expectations. Also, all of our things got her intact. Not an easy task.

ten years ago my mama and i had to store all of our belongings in two storage rooms at mabey’s greenbush/​rensseleur. my mama died in 2009 and i kept paying the rent religiously up to june, 2014. first i find out that in one storage room things were wet. i hired a moving company to empty both storage rooms but they didn’t finish even one storage room saying there was trash. there was no trash when our things were put in the storage rooms. one storage room was left partially repacked and loaded. the other was not even touched. that’s one big issue with affordable movers in albany, ny. everything in the storage rooms means so much to me. now mabey’s is not helping me at all or trying to understand that i didn’t mess up… the movers did. i was told by mabey’s that they weren’t a dumpster. i had to produce a death certificate for my mama before i could get mama’s and my things out of storage because i needed the code to get through the gate. allied is supposed to own mabey’s and for mama’s and my things to be wet in their storages is unforgivable. i’m trying my best to get the movers to repack anything that is wet and to empty both storage rooms so i can have everything shipped out of new york. i can speak of what packers and loaders do at professional moving companies because i and my mama both worked for several well known moving companies for years packing people’s belonging either out of their house or storage units. and anything in storage that needed repacking we knew to do this without being told. this afforable movers didn’t even finish the packing job at the house where they were supposed to start before going to mabey’s storage and packing, repacking, and loading my things from there. mabey’s is giving me a hard time. i have no more family now and mabey’s and afforable movers is making it very hard on me.

I’m a lieutenant in the Marine Corps and needed to keep my belongings in a storage unit while I would be away for six months of training. My experience with Mabey’s in Latham was nothing less than awesome, especially because of the manager, Dan Cunningham, who even remembered by name and storage unit number when I walked in the door six months after my initial visit. The storage warehouse is kept clean and is well secured. They have elevators and handcarts available for use, which makes moving stuff in and out much easier. Dan was friendly, professional, down-​to-​earth and, most importantly, extremely helpful. Even when the government hired another moving company to move my stuff to my next duty station, Dan came out in the freezing cold to assist the other moving gentlemen. In my opinion, this shows great character, which is rare to come by nowadays. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND doing business with Mabey’s.

I and my family have been sharing a storage unit here for about 3 years. It is not climate controlled so you have to pick and choose what you store there. The rent is reasonable and currently the unit houses mostly my parents «stuff», but some how I still have the duty of occasionally checking on the integrity of the unit (i.e.: is there leaking, vermin, etc). Its always fine. It got really damp in the spring/​summer of 2009 when we had all that rain and a mattress my brother was storing there got ruined, but that isn’t Mabey’s fault, its mother nature’s fault.
The manager is a really friendly guy and always remembers my name and what unit I’m renting (impressive and a little scary).
The rent does not include 24 hours access. If you want 24 hour access you have to pay an additional premium for it, which I think is a bit of a rip. All in all, its a decent and convenient storage facility located about a mile north of the Latham Circle next to Concord Pools (well set back, but the driveway access is right next to Concord’s)
