I’m going to keep this review short only because a few words is needed.
THEIR SPANISH BREAD ARE THE BEST!
I’ve tried so many Spanish (señorita) breads in the Bay Area, LA. Heck I even go to school in the Philippines and I am yet to find a bakery that has Spanish bread that is as good as Bella’s!
Come early in the morning (especially on the weekends) cause there is always a line. It goes by fast, but their Spanish bread sells fast! You can order it hot or cold. My parents always order their pandesal bread also which is light and fluffy with the crumb dust on it. Perfect for throwing in spam and eggs in or butter and sugar (haha super Filipino). We also order their muffins (I think they’re corn muffins) which are super good! If you’re ever in Lathrop, or in the area, or even on I-​5 and happen to be around in the morning. grab a few dozens of their baked goods!

It’s a gem of Filipino bread to find this place in Lathrop. Bread are as you’ve remember it growing up in the Philippines. Will not be disappointed.

John L.‘s pictures popped up as I Unilocaled for quick breakfast through the Tracy/​Lathrop area, and I had to stop by. It’s been almost 10 years since I was there last and honestly forgot all about it. Bella’s is located in a little strip mall right off I-​5 near 205. The outside is small and unassuming, as is the inside. There are only a handful of choices and you can buy by the dozen (which is the easiest).
Sure it’s divey, but one doesn’t come for ambience. One comes for the fresh baked pan de sal and fresh baked Spanish rolls. The pan de sal has great chew and just a touch of sweetness. They bake them fresh everyday and even though it was already 11am, the rolls we bought were still warm. Of course, the Spanish rolls are so delicious… small, warm and sweet filled with butter and sugar. Nom with a cup of coffee. My kids inhaled these like popcorn.
Still, as per John L., Starbread just opened up in Tracy and suggests I buy a box to compare. Will do, John, will do.

Not bad for a local bakery. The bakery is simple. Pan de sals are small and airy but they are good. If you are looking for big pan de sals this is not the place. If you go in the morning breads are nice and warm! And you know it is made there. I like stopping by here before I travel in the morning.

I can’t say enough about Bella’s Bakery. This place is awesome! Great rolls and friendly service. A bit of a whole in the wall but don’t let that fool ya!!!

I luv their Spanish bread it’s to die for good price for dozen. Location next to gas station easy to find. You won’t be disappointed coming here the best in town.

On our road trip back from San Jose, we stopped by at a gas station and right next door was this bakery. It’s a pretty simple bakery. It was in the early evening and I know bakers usually do their magic early morning. At the time walking in at this hour, there were a few baked goods. I can only remember the Spanish rolls. The Spanish rolls do taste like they were made in their bakery, but they were packed in plastic bags for you to just take home. Which can only mean they were probably baked earlier in the day. But it was okay. I wasnt having high expectations since it was early evening. These kinds of bread usually are baked early in the morning. Maybe next time when I can come in earlier… I can write a proper review. Not bad really.

We came here at 5am in the morning and we bought pan de sal and Kababayan bread. The pan de sal was tasty, fresh and warm. It really tasted like the Philippines! I loved it! We had some left over pan de sal that evening, but it was still as good as when we bought it. Makes me want to go back again even if I live 41 miles away from there. :)
The Kababayan bread was also very tasty and moist. It breaks easily, but I think that’s just how it is. One bag has 12 pieces. I opened the bag in the morning, but by the end of the day there was only 4 pieces left. It was just my boyfriend and I eating it. It’s that good! :)
I would definitely go back again. There’s a few Filipino bakeries in my town. This is the first Filipino bakery that really got my taste especially when it comes to Pan de sal. There’s nothing better than some fresh and warm pan de sal just like in the Philippines. Yummmmmm! ;)

Worth getting up at the butt crack of dawn for some Spanish rolls… ’nuff said

Love the Kababayan and Spanish rolls. A favorite for us when we visit home. Hot rolls and Kababayan are brought out 5am-​8am daily!!!

Been here a couple times. Customer service is cool yet unexpected. Most Filipino shops have rude ass employees! I’m like dayum yall need to chill.
Breads always fresh tasting. I always get the Spanish rolls, pan de sal and kababayan bread.
Location is weird. Right off the freeway in a small rundown plaza by Valeros gas station. Lathrop’s hidden gem! I guess it’s good for the commuters to grab breakfast.

we used to come to this bakery when I was in high school. and every time Im in northern CA, i try to stop by on my drive from Vegas. The family owner hasnt changed, and the recipe is still as delicious as we all remember. I love that they all work together to make this all a success and have not changed their location so everyone will be familiar with them. I would highly recommend the spanish rolls and the kababayan (corn bread) when you stop in. Love love love!

My relatives from Manteca (thanks Kuya Abel and Ate Nita!) usually bring the Spanish rolls and Kababayans (corn muffins) to family parties and they are a hit! The corn muffins are always moist and we go through bags within minutes. They’re that good! Wish this place had locations in the Bay Area!

Rude on the phone when I tried to make an order for a large party. Losing money people…

2 stars for curb appeal, 3 stars for service ad 4 stars for their spanish rolls.
I never crave Spanish Rolls until someone brings these to a family party and i’m reminded how delicious these are and go on this rampage seeking every bakery that would possibly carry. After attending a graduation party where these were present, I was once again a mission.
I went to Bella’s bakery in Lathrop on my way back home and was underwhelmed with the location and the décor (or lack thereof) of the bakery. I almost questioned whether or not I wanted to proceed with purchasing after walking in and seeing a desk littered with paper, an empty car seat tucked in the corner with random storage boxes and a less than desirable display case showcasing all their treats. Hmmmm…
I ended up getting a dozen pre-​packed Spanish Rolls and a dozen puto which is a Filipino rice cake. Unfortunately, it was 2pm when I stopped in so even though the rolls were made earlier that morning, they were hot out of the oven which is the best time to get. I put them aside and knew I’d dig into them when I got home so I can heat them up before diving into.
2 hrs into the ride, I started to smell the sweetness of the rolls… yummy! When I initially set them on the backseat, they were in a shaded area but the sun had slowly warmed them for me which made them a perfect temperature to eat. Try eating one of these when they’re warm… impossible.
I didn’t have the Puto until the next day and they were pretty good. Dense but very delicious and will always remind me of my childhood.
I’d give Bella’s a solid 3 all around. Product is great but when the front of restaurants or bakeries are not appealing and look unkept, it just makes me question what their kitchen looks like — and that’s an issue for me.

I expected a lot from this bakery after reading many positive reviews. I had a taste of their pan de sal and spanish bread and it was very disappointing. The taste is okay. What annoys me is the arrogant and rude staff taking orders. He looks like Babalu and he sounded as if he never went to school and learned some manners.

This maybe the best alternative to the Starbread Señorita Bread since the closest one is about 50 miles away. We always get their Spanish Breads and the Kababayans (corn muffins) by the dozen (or two). I won’t mind driving up I-​5 for these. Definitely a fan!

I would say this is the best Filipino bakery that I’ve been to and I’ve been to quite a few in the Bay Area as well as LA county. I stopped by as I was driving along the 5 FWY headed north and looked up all the local places on Unilocal mobile and this place popped up.
I was so excited to see that they had spanish rolls and pan de sals when I entered the plain bakery! The place it self isn’t the least bit fancy but the food and service is what really counts right?!? The staff they’re were all so sweet. Next time I make a trip I wish for sure drop by.
Lastly, I must say I had the best spanish rolls and pan de sals hands down that I’ve ever tried… IN MY LIFE!!!

Wanted to know what all this hype was about. Raised in Daly City but moved to the Central Valley, I had to find out if their stuff was any good. It WAS !!!
They open at 5am every day, and you have to get there as early as you can or else they sell out !!!
Nothing beats hot, fresh Pan de Sal. But, as with previous Unilocalers, their Spanish Rolls «are to die for» and really «melt in your mouth.»
I’m so happy there is a local, Filipino bakery in this part of San Joaquin County !!!
