Our Lady of Guadalupe

I’m new to Lathrop just moved 6 months ago. I looked for a church near by and found this one when I first seen it I thought it was kind of cute for a small church so I attended mass on Sunday the people very humble, the church small with the benches most of them ready to break down BUT over all the mass was good Father Francisco didn’t go over board in preaching he’s very clear and to the point I really enjoyed mass.
A new church is going to be build right in that premises next to the one now. I can’t wait for the new one to be build. I most definitely will keep attending to this church I like the father not too sure about the office staff they seem too young and very inexperienced but that really doesn’t bother me since I don’t have to talk or associate with them.
over all I enjoyed it and liked it.

I like our little church. Father Francisco tries hard to relate to everyone. He often has funny zingers in his sermon. The office staff seems disorganized. They sent myself and another person to baptism classes on the wrong night. After taking off work, we had to come (take another night off) the very next night. I think it would be great to get some tech savy office personal for more organization and for more of a presence on line (chruch newsletters etc).

My initial goal was to meet with the priest to have him meet my child and myself in person and to hopefully get us registered so we could baptize my 2 yr old son.
However what we found was a Very Judgmental Priest, very old school in his teachings, thinking and practicing For example believes you have to go to church every Sunday to be a catholic also didn’t like the fact that i had a child and wasn’t married. Our conversation was him raising his voice and judging my catholic religious values and beliefs. He accused my former priest of not doing his job correctly and I wasn’t sure if he was joking our not but he threaten to make a phone call to the diocese and let them know. Then he raised his voice and yelled over to another lady in the waiting area to let her know what our conversation was about implying that I was mistaken in my thoughts.
Overall a bad experience with this priest will be looking for a new church.

I remember taking CCD and confirmation classes here with my cousins and friends when we were little. Sister Glady’s (sp?) used to run this place but unfortunately she moved. Her house used to be a kick it spot after CCD class playing basketball in the backyard. I stopped coming here a long time ago cause my parents didn’t like coming here. They felt as though it doesn’t feel like a real church. I think they say that because people have parties here too cause the seats are just fold-​able seats the last time I remembered.
