The biggest issue I had was the check in process, which has been mentioned by others also. We were never made aware that the office would be closed when we planned on arriving, it was another guest who told us to check for a note on the office door. That had our room number, but it was locked and it took 30 minutes for someone to come let us in. The room was clean and reasonably comfortable and the location met our needs, but the awful check in experience probably took away any chance of a return visit.

The air conditioner is very old. It’s so loud the whole night and never stopped. i cant sleep at all. However, the location of this inn is so great. It’s very close to a beautiful beach.

I would have given The Great Escape Inn three stars based on nostalgia alone. I love the old Florida look. This motel is directly on A1A. A very busy, very noisy street. Pulling in to park my heart sank. The pool is 10 steps from the main road. My ideas of relaxing by the pool vanished. We talked to Mark on the drive over and he said the office would be closed when we arrived at 7 but our room would be unlocked and the key inside. I thought that seemed like a security issue but figured they must have done this before. There are security cameras there. Arriving after a 4 hour drive we found our room surprisingly locked. We called on the exterior office phone and were told 10 minutes someone will let you in. After waiting 30 minutes on the darkened patio an older woman wobbled over to us and barked ‘102!!!’ She was assisted by a younger woman luckily, because she seemed, ahem, impaired. She was babbling on about air freshener in the office when all we wanted was to get in our room. The price of our room did not reflect the king luxury room I was hoping for. It was very clean and semi updated but furnished with what seemed like mismatchy thrift store finds. I loved the 1950s tile in the bath but not the older towels. The bed was reasonably comfortable but there was so much road noise it made sleeping difficult. The kitchenette was very cute but not necessary on our trip. Some reviews I read complain about the noise of the wall air conditioning. I was happy it was cold and was masking some of the road noise. Except for the Harleys and giant trucks passing by. That being said, the manager Mark was very sweet. He offered us a restaurant gift card for our trouble on check in. If you can get a good rate on your room and don’t mind no frills, this place is very conveniently located. Walking distance to the beach, shopping and restaurants.

A very nice, comfortable, family owned place. Definitely«Old Florida,» and that’s good. This hotel is located close to the action, but not too close.(If you are a college kid on spring break, you might want to stay in FTL, closer to Las Olas, but if you are anybody else, I’d stay in Lauderdale by the Sea).

The newly renovated Great Escape Inn made for a pleasurable and affordable stay. I booked the deal directly on their website: in under five minutes. When I got there a week later with my girlfriend our new room was waiting for us. It was a very pleasant Inn and the bed was extremely luxurious compared to similar motels and inns I’ve stayed at. The place has a nice charm to it and it’s located by far in the most convenient location. We walked two minutes down the road to Aruba Beach Café for some great happy hour deals. There are tons of little swanky restaurants like Country Ham ‘N Eggs which we just walked to as well. The weather was great and overall it was a very relaxing and affordable vacation. I will definitely be back.
