J-H Tree Service

have never been compelled to write a review on Unilocal until now. i called J-​H tree service a couple of saturdays ago inquiring about an estimate to get a small tree and some loose branches removed from my property. jose hernandez (thus, «J-​H» tree service) informed me that he would be able to come to my house by 3:00PM, but ended up being 45 minutes late.
after looking over the work that had to be done, he gave me an estimate and said that if i left a check for him, he would be able to complete the job later in the afternoon/​early evening. i inquired about making a partial or full payment after the job was complete, and he said that it was not an option. needing this job to be done quickly, i agreed and left a check for him in an envelope as he requested prior to us leaving the house for the evening.
arriving later that evening, i found that the job was not done, and the check was still there. over the course of the next few days, i called and left messages for him at least 3 times, with no response.
all in all, i would say that as the owner (and apparently sole employee) of his company, he should be a little more concerned with customer service and his company’s image. he was EXTREMELY unreliable, did not follow-​up, and in the end, put me in a bind for a job that i desperately needed done. i would avoid this guy like the plague…
