I’ve done a lot of escape rooms, I’ve even done a room here before… and I have to say this room was missed managed like a mother fucker. It came down to improper set up. They didn’t take the time to properly set the room up. We got our brief and there was no objective… we had access to doors that were for other escape rooms, then got yell at when we entered them. How the fuck are we supposed to know? We solved the room in 15 minutes but didn’t know it… we didn’t know the objective. There was a puzzle ripped in paper, 3 6 9 when put together correctly, which was the combo to get out of the room, but it just looked like access to another room. We were then told not to go out that way. Solving more and more puzzles, the end puzzle was 3 6 9. Which would have opened the door we opened 30 minutes prior. Our escort yelled at us to «get out, you solved it.» I should have known something was up when he said «what the fuck!» When we opened the exit after 15 minutes. You guys fucked up. We had 11 (you lumped us in with 5 others) people in this room. And I’m sure no one got their money’s worth. 3 doors we opened that should have been permanently locked. I was completely dissapointed. Avoid avoid… «our room was solved before we got in there.» — my sister.
10 – 12 person room is just them trying to maximize profits. You really want to do a room with like 5 people max. I think we were supposed to have purge, dracula, and IT. Couldn’t tell any theme from the other, probably because we opened doors meant for other escape rooms… zero enjoyment.

This place does not cease to amaze me and they are clearly raising the bar, year after year. I sponsored a room escape for a group of volunteers for us to enhance our teams relationship and all I can say is that this is the BEST and HARDEST room escape I have ever been a part of. Keep in mind, they do turn down the scare factor on the room escape because not many people expect it, tell them you want a scare factor of 10 ahead of time and they will make sure to take care of you.
I have never, I repeat, NEVER been afraid to walk down a dark tunnel (even when I come in the fall) until they played a purge intro video and opened the door for us. That set the tone and we argued on who should go first for about a solid 5 minutes, burning time! When I was walking down the first tunnel to the first room… You really think I would ruin the experience for you? HA, go find out for yourself!
The employees here are super nice, helpful, and hard working. I want to take a moment here to give a shoutout for them and hope they keep the authentic experience moving forward as their business grows. Keep up the hard work! I wish I could give you a solid 10 stars, but apparently Unilocal didn’t think it would be fair to the alternatives out there. ;)
If you read this review and are still debating if you should go, I am going to make it simple for you. it’s your loss because I am going back and there will be more opportunities for me!

I came here with my brother and there was no one else in line, of course it’s early in the season so what would I expect?
We went in alone, just the two of us at first and they were scary just explaining the rules. I loved it. My brother walked straight out terrified so we told them we would wait for a group.
This gets them 6 stars!
Another group arrives, they worked at bennetts curse, a competitor of this place that were just checking it out for fun and gave us coupons better than their living social deal at the end (we went there, they got 3 stars as well).
They had a baby and I noticed that they toned it down for the baby. Overall I liked it and saw my brother become the smallest girl with bursting tonsils but they toned it down. –3 stars.
I recommend it, avoid groups with babies. Staff is awesome and nice :)

Talk about an amazing horrified birthday experience! I came across Luarel’s Horror Escape Room on Groupon. As a horror fanatic there was no way I wasn’t going to pay them a visit! I originally had reservations earlier that evening. However I had to push my reservations back. It wasn’t a problem at all and the rep was very accommodating. Upon arrival, it’s a old movie theater. The owners really went all out to create a horrifying environment. We were paired up with a another group for the adventure. I wouldn’t give away the clues but let’s just say… NOPE! You will have check them out!

We had a blast!!! It was seven of us on a rainy Sunday night. The group in front of us was finishing up so we waited a few minutes until they were done. While we waited they had a few brain teasers to get our wheels turning. We couldn’t figure any of them out, I could tell how this night was going to go!
It was our turn and we went in the briefing room for instructions and ultimately to start our 45 minute escape plan. There were four rooms we had to go through to figure out how to escape. Throughout the time you get 3 clues you can phone in for if you’re stumped which really came in handy. Because this is at the Laurel House of Horror, there were a few frights throughout the night. The clues themselves really get you thinking, it definitely was not easy which I appreciate because it makes me feel like I got my money’s worth.
My crew and I had an awesome time and I’m so excited that they said there will be a new theme in a couple months because we definitely want to do it again. I also can’t wait until Halloween season comes around again because I have to see what the haunted house is like.
On top of the awesome time we had, the staff was great too! Brittany and her counterpart, I forget the young ladies name were really friendly and took great pride in the job they’re doing. This place is really legit, they totally committed to the theme of the rooms with great props making you feel like you were really in these movies. I can’t say enough great things about this place and the good time we had. I’d definitely recommend this place to any group looking for a
fun activity with a little scare to hold you over until the ‘spooky’ time of the year.
My only other recommendation is to make sure you go with a group of at least 4 or more. Each time slot takes up to 8 people. The couple in front of us was just two and I think it was harder for them with just two brains trying to figure it out. If it’s a date night thing, I’d look into booking a time when other groups will be there and you can work with them.

Great time! Extremely Challenging. The staff was very understanding in accommodating for my nieces Imani’s birthday. The entire party was a tad late but Brittney I think was her name (The read head/​Operations Manager) gave us extra time as far as our grace period and even personalized one of the rooms for Imani’s birthday. You gotta love the attention to detail. Cant speak too much about the rooms but it was a blast! Well thought out clues, really take your time and think outside of the box.
After our time was up the operations manager assisted us in taking photo’s which capped off a great end! Me and my family will definitely be back as everyone in the family can participate as well as a staff with outstanding costumer service!
4 Stars! I would say 5 stars but I am an extremely tough critic and not easily impressed.

Lots of fun, very scary! The employees were great, very nice and helpful. The escape was four rooms, so there was a lot to do. We thought it was an hour, but it’s really 45 minutes.

It was a great time! We had so much fun, but it was scary!!! It’s not as easy as you think, but once you find the clues you’re surprised that you didn’t find it sooner!

Go go go go, it was so fun… even though we were late and only made it to the 3^rd room… it was so fun!

So much fun!!! I always wanted to do a lock room. We had a group of 3 n shared with another group of 4. There are 4 rooms of confusion. Use ur wits 2 solve the clues u have 45 min. We got out with only 30 seconds. I almost died!

This was new for me but definitely a experience. I had a ball. It’s definitely something to keep your mind going. Get there early and prepare to think. The staff was very nice. They even bought a small cake for my boy who’s birthday it was. I will definitely go back again

In the second year in raw this is my favorite horror haunted house. It has a convince location with plenty of parking. Easy access for VIP and the sections inside are updated. I liked it overall one down thing is one of the actors ran into my friend who was terrified of course and was like bro what about no body contact lol am glad no one touched me I would have freaked out. It still an enjoyable experience I wish they open in Valentine too.

I love love love haunted houses, and I am no stranger to waiting in lines for a good haunted house. I have been to other busy haunts, and the longest I have waited is three hours (and that was for eastern state penitentiary in Philly, which is one of the largest and most well known haunts on the east goat. I also have HUGE respect for the proprietors of haunted houses who put their time and effort into these haunted houses. I also read great reviews from last year that said the haunt was great and well priced (it seems based on reviews that prices have gone up over the last few years).
However, I dislike the disorganization, extreme line lengths, and rude response I got from the owner after I asked for a refund. We arrived with 3 hours til closing at the haunt. We drove up from DC and were really pumped. We started waiting in a huge line, but figured it wouldn’t be too bad. The line really was moving pretty slowly, and after a while a woman came up and asked what kind of ticket I had. She told me that I needed a blue ticket and to go to the box office. I left my friend in line and went to speak to another employee at the front who told me the long line I was waiting in was actually the express lane, and since I had regular tickets I needed to wait in the box office line to pick up a blue ticket, and head to the back of a second line. The second line was like Disneyland in June. I have never seen anything like it. I asked a group in front how long they had been waiting and they told us 2.5−3 hours (when the line was shorter). We were so bummed out and frustrated that we decided to head back to DC, as by the time we got in it would be past midnight (and way past the stated 11pm closing). After we left, I wrote a long email asking for a refund on the $ 50 in tickets, as we never got within 10 feet of the door. In my email I noted that although I did see the «no refunds» caveat on the website, I thought that rule was not really acceptable where a business sells so many tickets for an event (even the decidedly busiest night of a haunted house) that they are unable to accommodate everyone within a 4 hour window. I expected the refund would be a long shot, but wanted to let them know that they had disappointed customers. This is the response I got:
«There are no refunds and we did inform people that there tickets would be good for another night.
Halloween is our busiest night and I think everyone knows that any haunted house attraction is gonna have at least a 3 hour wait. Yes we sell speed pass tickets and yes there is an hour and a half wait but why would you leave and not talk to someone who could have maybe helped you??? And I can promise you that know one was giving refunds on Halloween night for people waiting to long in line.»
As I said, I have only every waited for three hours at one haunt, and even that haunt provides you tickets with a particular time slot. The thing that makes me angriest is this rude response. I just gave this owner $ 50, did not read anything on their site about possible 3 hour wait times, and made a special trip to Laurel from DC on Halloween night all to be snarked at when I was understandably frustrated. I’m not a big complainer, and have never even written a Unilocal review but this whole situation was a massive downer.

We went last night and we had a great time. It was worth the wait and we can’t wait to go back next year. The actors were a lot of fun to watch

I have been to just about every Haunted House on the east coast in the past 25 years so I feel i am very qualified to review these attractions. I will review all that i have been to so look for my reviews everywhere. I plan my OCT each year around haunted Houses. I am very fair in my reviews as well and feel they are accurate. This review is for Laurels House Of Horrors.
I cringe at going to a Haunted Attraction in the middle of a strip mall right beside a residential neighborhood, it offers no vibe or feel in my experience. That aside once i got into the attraction they def got the feel right. They have a very classic feel to their haunt. They use all the old characters from the classic films and they def get it right. The theater atmosphere is pretty cool as well, There is a section where you go through a door and it opens up into an entire theater with a classic film playing. The lighting is great as well. This is def not the most high tech haunt but it did not really bother me at all. It def made me jump about 3 times which is rare. They use very loud horns and bangs to scare you some of which were a bit too loud so if you have sensitive ears be aware.
I wish i could give this a 3 and a half but since i cant it had to be a 3, the reason being is that it was so so short. It needs to be about double the time, it seemed like i was in and out in about 10 min. I paid $ 25 to get in so that would be about $ 2.50 per min which is over double what i am used to paying based on a time scale.
So to sum it up, everything was great, the feel was nice, but it was way way to short for the price.

Reviewing this again because of the horrible night we had the night before Halloween.
So now that I’ve been once when there was no crowd (four other people there besides us at 8:30 pm) and the entire city of Laurel (8 pm Friday Oct 30), I can truly say this is not worth the money.
I was in line with tickets at 8:05 pm. I entered the haunted house at 11:40 pm. In between that timeframe, I stood in the cold and was frequently and forcibly attempted to be upsold to the fast past– several people in front of us fell for it and stood in an equally as long line that didn’t move even any faster than our line. So the extra $ 10 wouldn’t be worth it, but i can see how people fall for it.
The actors inside were worn out. Not nearly as good as the first time I went.
On top of this, the people of Laurel came in the masses and forced their way cutting into the lines– the group behind me attempted to reach out to both the police and management to help curb the amount of groups cutting in line, both of which shrugged it off. Definitely didn’t feel safe being out there so late, and definitely didn’t appreciate how poorly run the line system was.
Bottom line– it’s only worth the money if you go on the first weekend or so and go at an early hour. And presumably get good actors.

One of the best haunted houses I’ve been to. As the other reviewers said, the actors were very good and they kept the groups small and separated. Great value for the scares. Keep up the scares!

Definitely the best haunted house in the Dmv area! We went here on a sunday night and there was no line. The location is in an abandoned movie theatre in Laurel, MD. The creators put so much effort on creating the scary ambiance, not too many props actually making it more creepy, and the actors were amazing!! me n my group actually got really scared! My throat is still raspy from screaming for 15mins straight. Watch out for the doll man n Jason!

2^nd year we have been to this haunted house and again we are super happy with our experience. The owners (rich and charli) are super friendly and really put a lot of effort into this place. This year was different from last year. The haunt had some strange additions that played on your senses, awesome light and sound effects, and of course lots and lots of scariness popping out at each turn. We love the laurel haunt!!! Can’t wait for next year.

Definitely buy the speed pass tickets, it saved us at least an hour and a half of waiting in line. The actors were good and we got some good scares, the movie theater aspect is a nice touch. They did a great job at timing so no scares were taken from those before or behind us. We wished that it was longer, we went through the whole thing in less then 20 minutes. Also, wish it were outside because it gives more of a scary environment. But all in all they did a good job with the space they had.

Awesome job!!! I’ve been to tons of different haunted houses over the past few years and Laurel’s House of Terror is definitely one of the best. You can tell they take pride in what they do, it is very well set up.

Nailed it. I went with two ten year olds. All three of us were scared out of our skins. We screamed from beginning to end. And the end was crazy, you’ll never expect it. We couldn’t wait to get out and then we couldn’t wait to go back in.
It was the perfect beginning of a haunted season. Go and have fun. You won’t regret it.

This haunt is in a great location. It is in an abandoned movie theater in Laurel. There are no other haunts near this location, unless you drive 30 or 40 minutes to Bennet’s Curse or Field of Screams. This haunt is very scary. I went last year which was the first year and it was great! Just when I didn’t think it could get any better, it did. The haunt has expanded this year, it is now scarier and longer. It is a great haunt for all ages and it worth the price. I will defiantly be back this year as well as the upcoming years.

Amazing time! This is there 2^nd year operating. Didn’t think it could be scarier but I was wrong!!! They really upped the game. Charlie was awesome and they all were really interested in our feedback. Which was hard to do since I was still out of breath from screaming! Love this place. This is a must do on your Halloween list. I give it a 5 on the scream meter!

I love this haunted house!!! I’ve been to Bennet’s Curse and it wasn’t as good as this one. I can’t wait for it to open because I do plan on going this year with more people. I highly recommend this place.

One of the best haunted houses I’ve been to! Just great classic scare tactics, lots of good jump out moments and uniquely creepy aspects. Definitely recommend being in the front otherwise you miss some of the best parts. Being in a movie theatre was awesomely scary. The wait in line to get in was a good 15 minutes and we were only the second group in line (get there early), but we took our time going through. My only complaint was how hard it was to find the place, and the phone number online doesn’t work. We parked next to the Chuck E Cheese in the shopping center and you walk down the alley-​like corner area to find the theatre. When you come out of the attraction you’re around back of the shopping center and I was glad to be in a large group of people because I didn’t feel safe back there. The Living Social deal made it only $ 10 a person, but it’s worth the $ 15 regular online price!

My first haunted house. I didn’t know what to expect; a fellow Unilocaler invited me so I figured why not check it out.
After arriving, there were random people in costumes trying to scare people going to the house. They did succeed in scaring the kids so I figured I was in for a scare.
Entering the house, the only thing that scared me was the chainsaw towards the end, from Texas Chainsaw Massacre. They did play old scary movie classics such as Friday the 13^th on their big screens towards the end of the tour which will give some nostalgia.
I recommend earplugs when you go in due to lots of screaming and yelling from the people in the house.

Starting off, this was well worth the price. $ 15 (when purchasing online) for a good time is definitely worth it. The old Laurel movie theater was a perfect location for something like this. They have the characters perfectly placed through out the tour, along with different themes in each section. You travel through out different theaters (with old scary movies playing in the background), along with rooms they’ve built to add to the tour. All together, it takes about 10 minutes to get through the whole thing.

I love haunted houses. Laurel’s House of Horror is one of the scariest and most realistic haunted house in the area. If you are up for a good scare, check out this haunted house. The actors and sound effects really made it a scary and awesome experience! Strongly recommend it.
