Established in 1950.

Whayland began as a small homebuilder in 1950. By the 60’s Whayland began performing commercial work as a general contractor and phased out of homebuilding by 1970. Through the 70’s and 80’s Whayland developed a reputation for on-time and on-budget construction. In the 90’s Whayland expanded its offering to include construction management, then total project management (design, permit, and construction processes) and in 2008 added real estate consulting. Through it all Whayland has retained its ability to do small or large jobs, all with emphasis on personalized service.

Meet the Business Owner

Bob W.

Business Owner

Bob began his construction career in 1978 as an estimator/project manager/business development officer. At the same time he was pursuing a business degree at Salisbury University and graduated cum laude in 1983. Througout the 80s and early 90s Bob served as Vice President – Marketing for a regional construction firm. Having learned the various project delivery systems and realizing that the client is best-served by having an advocate with real-world knowledge of design, permit, financing, and construction processes from concept to completion, Bob acquired the Whayland Company and began transforming it into the client-focused provider of complete project delivery services that it is today. In addition to his duties at Whayland, Bob serves on the board of Bank of Delmarva and is Chairman of the Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission.
