Amal’s Baklava & More

Freshly made, authentic Baklava that just came out of the oven, not too sweet, but still dripping with honey and the nuts add the perfect crunch. They have different kinds of Baklava, my favorite is the Walnut fingers but you really can’t go wrong with anything you pick. You can get a tray for your next office treat, bridal shower or even as a personal gift at a very reasonable price and they provide nice wrapping too (They can ship to other states as well). I also tried the Katayef and Om Ali, the best I have ever had especially the Katayef stuffed with nuts, I can’t wait to make my next order.

Amal was kind enough to prepare two 1lb boxes of baklava (pistachio and walnut) in 2 hours of my same day call. I was planning to go to Knafeh Bakery in Anaheim but saw the reviews and decided to call her this morning. $ 14 cash for each box. She gave me a sample of each and they were DELICIOUS! Not too sweet and not too sticky. I will be back for more.

I met Amal of Amal’s Baklava & More in a college class I teach. I found out she made baklava, I asked to buy some, because my wife loves it. Now, I love it, too. The review I read by Lauren C. says it perfectly. She wrote: «Amal’s…baklava…sweet and nutty, perfectly chewy, and neither too dry nor overly dripping with honey.» When i read that, I thought that what Lauren wrote goes for me, too. I don’t know what the «More» is, but I plan on exploring.

My wife was coming to LA for a 2 days vacation, and she was craving to baklava from the famous Amal’s Baklava. I called Mrs Amal and asked her if she can make an order for me the next day. She was extremely nice saying that she wants nothing but to make my wife happier :)
Surprisingly, she texted me the next day saying that my order is ready for pick up (although she requires couple of days to process any order).
My wife didn’t just jump over the ground happy for getting this delicious baklava, but she also finished a whole pound in one day. I think that Amal makes really perfect baklava, and I am not saying this because we are away from our Arab countries and we are craving any eastern desserts, no, if Amal was even in any Arabian country she will be considered the best dessert maker.
Simply… she can perfectly balance the sugar, the crispiness, the golden look, and the lightness of baklava.

I was doing an international day for my students and wanted to bring them baklava. A quick search led me to Amal’s. She normally requires advance notice, but happily created a beautiful platter for me to pick up later that day. I chatted with her briefly, hearing a bit of her story of coming to the U.S. and starting the business. She has such a great spirit! I got in the car to leave and took a bite of baklava. OH. MY. DELICIOUSNESS!!! It is lightly sweet, and crunchy, with spice and nut flavors that will take you to the moon and back. I ate several pieces in the car, and the kids loved it! You will not find better baklava anywhere.

Yummy baklava :) I love the pistachio and walnut. I got them from an Arabic market in lawndale and I called the owner Mrs Amal to make another order. Mrs Amal was very friendly and helpful making me a special order for my friends dinner. I recommend this baklava for special events especially Ramadan coming up.

We’ve eaten Baklava throughout Turkey and the Balkans and can say Amal’s is up there with the best of them.

The BEST baklava I’ve ever had. Normally, I can only eat one piece because I’m used to baklava that’s soaked in syrup. Not the case here. I finished a pound on my own in two days! The texture is great – chewy and crispy. And the flavor even better, not too sweet, just right.

This is the yummiest, most delicious Baklava I have tasted in my life. I received a box as a gift and I really didn’t want it to finish. I definitely want to try it again and try the rest of the collection. Keep it up!

Wow… this is by far the best baklava I’ve ever had in my life. Anything you try has the perfect combination of fresh, the right amount of sweet and the perfect amount of ‘crunchy’. It’s like the goldilocks choice of baklava!!! I heard about this place from a good friend and was able to order a large quantify online and have it over-​nighted to me in Alabama! I was impressed at the speed and quality of my order. Will definitely order more soon! The nice tin boxes help make them great unique holiday gifts!!!

This place is a Gem… I was looking for a place to get good quality baklava and got even more than I expected, high quality, fresh, great tasting and authentic. the prices are great, you have to place orders ahead of time I called in the morning and was able to pick up the same day and I’m glad I did, this will be my go to place for baklavah from now on.

The best baklava you will ever taste! Any size you want ! I honestly cant stop eating when i start. Unless the lb is done! Give it a try, you will not regret it, they also deliver to orange county and los angeles county.

On her website she requests 2 days advance notice for party trays, but when I had a «baklava emergency» the day before my event, I found her website (the business is brand new, which is why I’m the first to review her on Unilocal!) and called her to see if it would be possible to get baklava for the next morning. She very kindly whipped some up on short notice. My sister and I went to pick up the baklava and she invited us into her home to sample some before sending us off with our beautifully arranged and wrapped party trays. Not only is she a fabulous baker but a kind, warm, friendly person!
At our party of ~60 guests, our dessert selection consisted of mini cupcakes from a local cupcake shop, and Amal’s baklava. We received great feedback on both, but the proof is in the pudding – the baklava disappeared first, and fast! We will definitely be back soon.
