Great and honest service. I had a flat tire while travelling from MN to OK. The tire plies had separated and the tire was not repairable. D&D not only found me a used tire, but it was the exact model and wear as my original tires. They mounted it, put it back on my truck and put my spare away. They had me in and out in 40 minutes and only charged me $ 50! If I lived in or around Lawrence, KS they would have a customer for life!

I came here when I needed a tire in a pinch and they really took care of me. The staff was quick and got me in and out in no time despite not having a reservation. The cost of the tire was absolutely reasonable and shit I need anymore tire service I will use this place indefinitely!

I had gone to D&D Tires for years. Recently I had them fix a flat tire. When I picked up the car, I checked the tire pressure. They had inflated it to 40 psi –far above the recommended tire pressure. This is unsafe and causes excessive wear on tires. I checked the other three tires and found that, without my knowledge, they had overinflated those tires to 40 psi. I wrote to D&D with my concerns. They did not bother to respond. I also pointed out that they had failed to file the proper paperwork with the state, and their corporation was no longer in good standing. Rather than respond to me, let alone thank me, they filed the necessary paperwork so that they are now in good standing. I think the legal term for their actions is «half-​ass».

Recently I was driving from Kansas City to Lawrence with my daughter who had an interview on the KU campus. While on I-​70 about ¼ mile from Lawrence, we got a flat tire. After changing the tire, we went to the nearest tire store, which was D&D, and hoped that they would be able to help us that day. We dealt with Phil who assured us that the problem could be fixed quickly while we were on campus. Phil also gave us a ride to campus so that my daughter could make her interview on time. Within 15 minutes, Phil called to advise me that the tire could not be repaired and gave me a very reasonable price quote for a new tire. I received another call 20 minutes later advising me that the car was ready to go. Phil picked us up on campus and gave us a ride back to the shop. I really appreciate the quick and friendly service that D&D provided us out-​of-​towners that day. Thank you D&D for your prompt and courteous attention to our problem You guys are great!

I blew a tire 2 blocks away and they refused to help me or walk the two blocks to see what size I had or give me an estimate. I repeated things several times and they didn’t listen. Not very happy with the service and I really wanted to buy from a local place.

I am from Georgia and had a tire that wasn’t going to make it home. Having an F-​550, it took some looking to find a place that had the right size tire. I am fortunate to have been recommended this place by the local Ford dealership. The staff was most helpful and courteous. I called ahead to see if they had a tire in the correct size, of which they had several. After I dropped it off to get the new tire put on, the service manager informed me that they had a matching used tire that he recommended I go with over a new tire. He explained that due to the amount of wear on the existing tires, that a new tire would wear faster. This recommendation caught me pleasantly off guard, seeing as I already committed to paying for a brand new tire. They went out of their way to take care of me and my vehicle as quickly as possible since I had to wait. I was pleased by the whole experience. It’s reassuring when you are far from home to be able to find good reliable service. It certainly doesn’t hurt when you find people that are willing to save you $ 150. Thanks D&D!

I was a customer for a few years, but finally got tired of their bad service and vague (and invariably wrong) estimates on time to complete work.
Example: Just this morning, they were supposed to put four tires I ordered last week (I was told they would easily arrive by today), onto my car, which «should be done by 10 am.» When I arrived at 8 am to drop my car off, they had lost the paperwork on my order. They said they would «figure something out» (what?), so I still left my car (already took the day off), then they later called me to say they found it and could have my car done by noon.
I arrived just after noon, at which point my car was still parked where I dropped it off, still sitting on my old tires. When I went inside to inquire about it, they told me the tire shipment was delayed and they were going to «check on it.» Still not sure why the tires weren’t there in the first place, since they indicated they would be.
So again, against my better judgment, I left my car with them. Around 2:15, they finally called to say my car was ready. When I came to pick it up, over four hours after my promised time, I also discovered they had removed the ignition key, despite my explicit instructions to leave it in, since the tumbler was wearing out (and I left them a door key when I dropped it off.)
Long story short, their tire prices are some if the best in town, but their poor service and casual approach to punctuality ruins it. These people will waste your time and worse, don’t seem to listen to anything. I’m done.

I was having problems with some noise in my car while driving. I went to several stores in Kansas City and got a different story each time. I drove to Lawrence to go to D&D because I always have had such good luck with their advice. They figured out what the actual problem was (a combination of things mentioned at the other places I visited in KC) and explained why the other shops had said so many different things and what would solve the problem PERMANENTLY rather than fixing a piece at a time (so I could be charged more) like the other places would have.
The best testament to D&D are the customer letters that hang on their bulletin board. They all talk about how fair and honest the store has been over the years and I think that’s pretty cool.
Yah, it’s a little dirty, they can be a little ruff at times and its not anything like a chain store. But they give honest advice and really know what they are talking about which is what I really look for in mechanics.

D&D has been getting my business since the mid 1980s. They’ve always provided great service, solid advice, and are not afraid to tell you your tires can get another 10K miles before you purchase new ones. In other words, they’ll tell you what’s right, not what is going to make them a few extra bucks. And they’ll take you outside to show you what they’re talking about on your car as part of the process. Even though they’re really busy all of the time they’ll really do their best to get you in if you need service. Bit taken back by some of the negative comments. Never experienced that myself and I don’t go there so often they recognize me.
Their prices are competitive and I have say it – I like the fact it’s not a chain. I know your money goes all over the planet for purchases these days but in this case most of it stays in Lawrence and the surrounding community.
Four solid stars for the guys working in the summer sun and winter cold. It’s a tough job. The folks at the counter are strictly business but friendly. They’ll provide our family’s next set of tires when the time comes.

I have used D&D for about 15 years now and have found their service to be exceptional. I have absolutely no complaints and have bought tires there for numerous vehicles in our home fleet. One other positive I should mention is tire pricing. I always check prices, both online and in-​town, and they consistently beat out Walmart, Costco, and others on cost. Combine that with their service and the decision re: where to go for tires in Lawrence is easy.

Complete jerks and acted like they didn’t want our business since we had an extended warranty that would cover the repair. Don’t worry guys you will never get our business!

How can you be passionate about a tire shop? When they’re this good, it’s easy. Local, friendly, good quality, and, yes I dare to say it about a mechanic: honest. I’m not kidding. Unanimously, every person I talk to recommends D and D Tire.
I’ve never felt taken advantage of, when I’ve gone there, and they literally outfitted my Toyota Corolla with four brand new tires for under $ 400. They didn’t try to add on a bunch of stuff I didn’t ask for, and they always offer to repair a tire before replacing it. Why can’t all car shops be this grand?
