Our in-​house catering pairs impeccable service with Maceli’s signature cuisine. Portioned generously, our fine dining approach is the best value for the price. Maceli’s downtown location offers a fully equipped banquet hall for 400 guests and a smaller meeting room for groups of 25 to 80 guests.

History

Established in 1995.

My business started unofficially as a graduate student at the University of Kansas where I was a Scholarship Hall Director. My primary job responsibility was orchestrating meals for 50 residents and a staff of student cooks. After 5 years in Grace Pearson Hall, I began using my newly acquired skills for the benefit of friends and classmates who were getting married. This is when my business officially began. After several years of preparing meals out of my home, I opened my first commercial kitchen at 1119 Massachusetts. This coincided with the Maceli’s being added to the approved caterer list at the KU Alumni Association and being chosen as the in house caterer for the new SpringHill Suites by Marriott. It only took 3 years before we outgrew our space and began looking for a bigger kitchen. Eventually we found our present location which just recently underwent a major renovation.

I started this business while a graduate student at KU. As my business continued to grow I found myself working on my Ph.D. dissertation less and less. Sometimes life takes us in another direction and that is what happened to me. Eighteen years later I still love my business and the role it plays in the community. I enjoy the ability to always be looking for ways to improve the food and service that Maceli’s offers. I cannot imagine having any other job where I am as excited to go to work on a daily basis.
