PDS Moving Delivery & Storage

PDS took all of the hassle of moving and turned it into the smoothest experience I have ever had.
I contracted with PDS to move the contents of my house and a storage shed at the end of the summer of 2015. All of my dealings with Chess (owner /​operator) were cordial and professional. In our initial discussion, I told him the size of our house and approximately how much stuff would be moved, and from there he gave me an estimate of manpower and time, which gave an estimate of overall cost. I don’t remember the exact figures, but PDS works on a system where each worker costs $X, and they are billed out in 15-​minute increments. While this might seem like it could add up quick, I can assure you that PDS does not mess around when it comes to efficiency.
My wife and I had already packed up our old home and had it waiting in boxes in the living room and basement. This was the accumulation of 10 years of living in a 950 square foot home with a basement. We kept a few things separate that we were going to move on our own, but for the most part had everything broken down to boxes and furniture. In addition to our house, we had an off-​site storage shed at a storage business because we had been clearing out the home in anticipation of a move and we were putting it on the market while trying to showcase the available room within the home. When we talked to Chess, we expressed that we would need the storage and the home moved to our new home, and he said that would be no problem.
We worked it out so that PDS arrived at the storage facility early in the morning while we were at the title company signing the mortgage documents. After we were done with our portion and we were waiting on the keys, I headed by our old house to make sure everything was in order. Not only had Chess and the crew packed up the storage locker, but they were also finishing up clearing out our old house when I arrived. This was probably about 90 minutes after they started overall — and this included the drive time from the storage to our house. Through proper planning and efficiency, PDS had planned on two big trucks (what they estimated we needed from what I described) and they packed them full in record time. I left to return to the new house and arrived just before they did.
At the new house, the move went just as quickly. We had pre-​marked our boxes with locations, so they were delivered quickly and efficiently. Furniture also distributed through the house very quickly, including some moves of large pieces up and down stairs. Chess and his team had also done some extra packing work on some of our larger furniture pieces to ensure they were not damaged in the move, which I found both thoughtful and very professional.
In the end, our entire move was done in about 3 hours 45 minutes, and everything from our old home and storage was in our house in less time than it takes to watch two Star Wars movies. We were very impressed with PDS’s speed, efficiency, and care, and we would recommend them to anyone considering a move in the area.

I have used Chess and his crew three times over the past 2 years. Each time was due to a family emergency needing to get elderly parents relocated quickly. His crew were very professional and understood the sensitivity in the move and respected the distraught elderly parent being moved. I will alway use them and tell everyone how great they were during the entire process. Their pricing was perfect and I try to support local vendors as much as possible if they are great! So call Chess and he will take care of you!

We’ve hired these guys twice. Once when we moved in town and the second time when we moved to another city. They are very professional, courteous, and helpful. I would definitely recommend them if you need help moving.

First I must say that I have moved all over the U.S. The last 7 years and hope to high heck I never have to move again. No movers are perfect. Anyone that’s moved a lot knows you’re going to get some dings here and there in your stuff no matter how careful the movers are. That’s just the nature of the beast.
Having said that, during our current move I wanted to avoid the big guys. They are NO better than a good local company. And I wanted to support a local company. PDS had great reviews on Unilocal so I called them up. The company is owned by a great gentlemen and family man. Very polite as well. After our initial contact, through my own stupidity I somehow put his business number on my blocked call list. I still don’t know how I did that but regardless the owner called me numerous times over the two weeks I had him on call block. I finally called him back after a couple of weeks when I couldn’t understand why I wasn’t getting a call back from him. Well I finally discovered why, because I had him on call block. When I fixed that I saw that he called several times over those two weeks. I finally got him on the phone and explained what a tool I was for somehow putting him on call block. He was very polite and said he understood but I know he must have been thinking «What a dumbass». I scheduled a day and time for his movers to come to our new house in raytown, pick up appliances the previous owner had left for us, and drive them to our old home in wichita 3 hours away and swap them for our newer appliances at our wichita home and then pack up our stuff and haul all our stuff from wichita to raytown. The movers were very fast and polite. Much much faster than the big guys like Allied or American we have used in the past. Plus the PDS movers treated our stuff a little better than the big guys who don’t really give a crap about your stuff. So even though I know dings and dents are going to happen during moves it was nice to see movers TRY and keep that to a minimum.
So to sum up:
The owner is a very polite, understanding local business owner and family man.
His movers are fast!, polite, hard working guys. I have a lot of respect for blue collar workers. So I ask you all, if you use PDS please tip the movers well.
His quote was not only reasonable, it obviously was under the big guys. Small and local are much hungrier for your business than the giant don’t care corporations. In fact after the move was over the movers had come in under budget! Bonus! I think it helped a lot that we had almost 98% of our stuff already boxed up and ready for them to just load onto the truck. So if you want to save time and money spend the time and energy to box up your stuff in advance so they can simply move everything and don’t have to run up your bill taking time to box everything.
PDS is a fantastic local moving company and well worth giving a call in your search for a moving company. If I ever move again I’ll shoot myself in the head, but if I don’t die, I’ll be calling PDS for sure.

These guys are truly amazing!
Having never used professional movers before I was highly apprehensive about hiring movers. After an exhausting search I stumbled across PDS. These guys were very well reviewed which most of the other companies in the KC area certainly can’t say the same.
I called up and spoke to Chess who answered several questions I had. After researching them online and speaking to them on the phone I had a really good feeling about this crew so I decided to go ahead and make an appointment.
They charge by the hour so you don’t have to worry about the weird flat rate pricing structure some other companies use which requires you to make an inventory of what needs to be moved.
On moving day Chess and Jeff were in touch with me via phone and showed up when they said they would be there.
I showed them what I wanted moved and they immediately started taking items out to the truck.
These guys were incredibly careful with everything they touched! All furniture was carefully wrapped in blankets and plastic wrap in a super careful manner.
After loading everything up they made the drive from Lenexa over to Fairway and started unloading.
I couldn’t have been happier with the job these guys did. Nothing was damaged which wasn’t a shock since these guys were super careful. You can really tell they actually care about doing a good job.
When they were all done the bill ended up being LESS than what some of the flat rate guys were quoting me, the rate was incredibly reasonable especially given the quality of the work this crew did.
I would definitely recommend these guys! Although they are located in Lawrence they don’t charge extra for KC customers since they do so much work in the metro.
Also, you can go to their website and see the exact guys who work for them so you won’t have to worry about some temp workers showing up on moving day like other moving companies use!

These guys did a great job! They came and loaded up my apartment very quickly and even unloaded everything in the rain. They were careful with my belongings and happy to move things where I needed them to go .They were very friendly and did an excellent job. I would definitely use them again!

PDS Moving did a great job! We had a piano and a truck-​load of furniture they had to move down a flight of stairs, so it was a lot of stair climbing and heavy stuff to haul. They moved the piano with some type of electric dolly, which gave me much more peace of mind than if they tried to muscle it down the stairs.
They guys who did all of the loading/​unloading were very friendly, efficient, and trust-​worthy. They were just a group of good guys, which, unfortunately seems to be a rarity in this line of work. I have had items stolen or broken in previous moves, and not once was I worried that this would be the end result of this move.
They were conscientious about wrapping certain pieces of furniture to protect it for the move, and the guys really hustled, but not in a careless or hurried manner.
Honestly, I cannot think of one negative comment to say about them. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND PDS MOVING. I truly believe you’ll be a happy customer, too. (:

This is a great moving company — I highly recommend them. We have hired movers before and especially given the price and quality, this was definitely my best experience.
They sent two guys that moved very quickly and took better care of my furniture than I do. They didn’t break anything (and I’ve always had at least one item break with past movers). They loaded the truck quickly and efficiently and wrapped, covered or strapped in anything that needed it with care. I didn’t have to bother with the hassle of getting a truck, dolly, pads or anything, they brought it all. They arrived on time and did not move slowly (even though it was warm outside and they had to go up and down stairs).
Ches was also really great in handling the booking and payment. Good luck moving — these guys will help make it so much easier.

We cannot say enough good things about PDS. These guys knew exactly what they were doing. Showed up on time, handled everything with efficiency and care at the same time (hard to find such quality!) If you are looking for moving services in Lawrence, look no further than PDS!!!

These guys were great. Period. I wish they could be everywhere and move us when we need to be moved, but alas, we are no longer in Lawrence.
We used ABF U pack, and had the PDS guys come and move our furniture and boxes into the ABF truck. We used 3 guys. They were all very friendly and very careful with our things.
With ABF, you pay per foot used, so it was important that they were thoughtful when packing the truck. Two of the guys carried our things to the truck, while the third stayed in the truck and packed our things like a puzzle. We had several persnickety pieces of furniture that they handled like a breeze.
They were quick and efficient. When we arrived in Seattle, our next set of movers commented on how well our things were packed into the truck. What a compliment!
