The high arching windows, domed ceiling and glossy wood floors make The Commons an amazing addition to the University of Kansas. With visiting art exhibits and speakers, the Commons is a great resource for the University and community alike to open minds to new viewpoints. Intended to showcase the intermingling of physical, cultural and biological processes, the Commons has become a meeting ground for a range of classes, receptions, and events. From the visit of former Governor Parkinson to art exhibits like the upcoming An Experimental Provocation about the Screens We Use Every Day(May 13 – 26) the space is open, freeing and offers a great opportunity to take in new challenging art media. Past exhibits examining the intertwining of humans and nature were visually stimulating, utilizing such media as duct tape, plastic water bottles and straws. Their website keeps an updated profile of exhibits along with opening night reception information.
